Some very good points above.
I think Armageddon will take place in the vale of Megiddo in Israel.
i don't mean for anyone to get into argument over this, i just want to hear what people believe.i hope that no one will mock or argue with someone else about their beliefs, i know that i won't in this topic.. i still believe in a christian god, not what jws believe, but believe that there has to be something after this life.
i am not sure about how armageddon would go, would it be like how evangelicals believe with a rapture or timing or anything, though i still believe in a form of armageddon.
i do think that all good people will go to heaven but i don't believe in a hell.

hello, i've been lurking for quite some time here on this forum, reading a whole lot and i've finally made the courage to create an account as a form of escape and in hopes to be understood and not feel "mentally diseased".
little background on me, i am a born in but i consider myself a pimo (physically in mentally out).
i feel like i've always had doubts but these doubts would sink with the meetings and the assemblies and every other little thing that drowns any doubts a witness may have.
I have never been a JW and am surprised by the lack of compassion you say they show to the mentally diseased. People who are schizophrenic or paranoid etc. are mentally diseased, but suffer so terribly that they often commit suicide.
You might like to point this out to them.
I am not criticising anyone on here.
i was wondering if you guys think if the general public cares about our stories or if they even care what the watchtower does to people??
?.
Most people hide when they see active JW's coming. They will have little contact with ex-Jw's
i bleed for the poor souls caught in that.
no sprinkler system in that domestic building..!.
tragically the govts various of london learned nothing during the world war..
I'm sorry for the emergency services who have to deal with this. It is horrendous.
i was trying to find something recent that i can show "still ins" in my sphere but it is proving harder than anticipated.. most of what i am seeing is couched in confusing goblygook wt style prattle.. my wife argues that it's not even true and i think that's the case with most jaydubs.. so i guess if it is a teaching that is being allowed to fade, maybe it's not worth pursuing?.
any of you scholars out there got anything recent clear and handy?.
If the new covenant is only for the 144000, that must mean that the rest are under the old covenant, ie the law of Moses.
has anyone had a study with jws with the goal of helping them see ttat..
Yes, me. But did not get anywhere.
Two came, but after a while one dropped out so I was inviting just one man into my home. I did not feel safe with that so I told him not to come again after a couple of solo visits.
They never kept to time, often an hour late, which annoyed me.
we all know that the society claims that jesus invisibly chose the bible students (forerunners of jw) in 1919 to be his organization here on earth.. yet, as we know, so much of what they then taught and did was wrong according to current teaching and practice.. the reply witnesses will give is something like "they were the most sincere seekers of truth blah blah...and jesus could see their potential".
so, pretend for a moment that the current organization and the 1919 organization were both in concurrent existence at the time he invisibly came to choose.... which would he choose?
the current or former?.
with respect to christ being the "redeemer" and of having "paid the ransom", i would like to know:.
(1) what is your technical understanding of each term?.
(2) what is the watchtower's understanding of each term?.
I don't know why I put that. I agree there was only a block between God man when sin entered the world. I think that was what I really meant. Sorry.

I think the link between ransom and covering has been missed. Adam & Eve felt the need for coverings as they recognised that they could not stand before God without something to hide behind, but their leaves were not good enough, so animals had to be sacrificed to provide skins as a substitute.
Later on, Moses had to wear a covering on his face after he had talked to God.
The holy of holies was protected from view by a curtain, and the arc had to be covered when it was moved.
There was always a block between God and man.
The temple had a curtain to keep the holy of holies from view, but when Jesus died this curtain was torn from top to bottom showing that the way to God was now open through his death. Christ is now the door to the kingdom.

In the old testament, according to Strong's dictionary, redeem seems to mean release or rescue. Ransom means to cover as in covering a roof with pitch to stop it leaking. There are few incidences of these words in the new testament, interestingly, and they seem to mean to pay a price.
I don't know how the JW's interpret these words.
