  The Most Tasteless Awake Cover ?? - Feb 8th 2003

  this magazine was disturbing to me at the time, but i lost track of it and only recently found it .

  this is exactly as it was printed, no photo shop, i am not that clever.. it is credited to a newsagency, jan banning , panos pictures - so i do believe that she was a real child prostitute .

  there is something that gets to me even now about this picture.

  The only thing that makes me think that she may be a child prostitute, given the area it is shot in, is the earrings and the hollow eyes. Her dress does not look all that gaudy to me ( and btw, her arms look healthy to me, not pudgy). As a matter of fact, take away the earrings, and she just look like a very poor young girl .

  I don't know if you have seen some second and third graders in the USA lately but they often dress much more gaudy.

  Didn't they ever have a cover about masturbation? How can i over come this or some such nonsense? Poor kids, as if being pre -teen was not a hard enough time.

  jehovahs witness refuses to let husband have life-saving blood transfusionby lucy cockcroft last updated: 6:42 am bst 06/06/2008 the wife of a man who is critically ill in hospital has refused to let doctors give him a life-saving blood transfusion because he is a jehovahs witness.john edwards, 57, suffered severe injuries when a motorist suspected of drink-driving knocked him over and medics have warned he could only have days to live if he does not have the transfusion.. but his wife sheila said he has signed a form banning any blood transfusions in the event of an accident or illness, because their religion forbids it.. it is believed she is rejecting repeated pleas from doctors hoping to change her mind.. the couple's sons, jonathan, 36 and tom, 29, do not share their beliefs and it was unclear last night whether they supported their mother's decision.. a family source said: "sheila is adamant that john must not have blood.

  she says giving him a transfusion would be like assaulting him, and he wouldn't want to live knowing he had disobeyed his god.. "she is in a terrible state, constantly in tears at his bedside, but won't give in to requests from anyone.

  her sons are both with her but her position hasnt budged.".

  When they start making this kind of stuff criminal, ie, charging her with manslaughter, jws will discover "new light". If it is against the law to commit suicide then this is also against the law. This is so sad . Evil persons in Brooklyn taking a scripture from Jewish law and making it the cornerstone of a religion. I have told this to some Jewish persons I know and they are just stunned. Another thing that might get the "light' changed, If insurance companies started to refuse to pay the widow b/c either he or she refused something that could have saved his life.

  That video ought to be in a sticky on this forum. It would be a wonderful thing for people to see that were investigating jws, perhaps considering studying. If only people could see this before they get involved.

  Ever have a paranormal event in your life, please share?

  i am one who believes strongly in the spirit realm, paranormal activity, etc.

  even with such a strong belief, i am often told by skeptics that such things are foolish and nonsense.

  while i accept people have the right to feel however they want, i have often shared stories with people that are hard to explain with logic and find others have events like this too.

  Why I will NEVER be an elder again

  so the po confirmed what many on this board already know.

  at latest round of co to elders meeting, the co quoted from the society outline.

  any elder or ms who encourages college for his kids or others or who allows his children to go to college will no longer qualify.. he then asked if i was going to take the cos encouragement and reach out again to be an elder and get my hours on the ministry up.. i replied "i will never be an elder again - i strongly approve of further education and college and have been through college myself.

  Children Who Leave Always Come Back to the Society

  i heard this in a car group one day.

  a young single mother said she always heard that growing up.

  when she left she was adamant she would never be back, and now here she was.. is this true for the most part?.

  The Catholic Church used to boast the same thing, " once a Catholic always a Catholic". I do think with jws it is a bit the same, once a jws, it can be really hard to shake those beliefs off. I have heard them boast that even if you leave jws, you will never join "false religion"

  The other has to do with family has we all know, many just stay to be with family or if df get reinstated for family. It's hard to raise our children without any family so many of us will do most anything so our children will have so sense of family.,

  The Internet has changed many things. those that leave now have support and life is not quite as grim.

  How come the women's restrooms always stink at assemblies....

  i mean i use public restrooms...even gas station restrooms on occassions and they never smelled like the assembly bathrooms.

  i thought that they were suppose to be clean people????.

  The most cherubic child starts to smell ripe after a few hours . My kids always threw up or had diarrhea at the conventions due to the water. Kids have sensitive tunnies. A lot of adults do too. Bathrooms frequently have a revolting stench at big conventions, Most poop stinks.

  Add to to that all the stuff mentioned, IBS, UTI's. menstrual periods, eating nasty food that smells very foul when it exits the body, people who are into natural stuff and thus do not wear deodorant and on and on.

  BTW, I used to freshen up my makeup and hair in the bathroom by using my compact. I would just stand somewhere in the bathroom to do it or if forced use the stall. I carry wet wipes. . I did get glared at but I did not care. No one is going to tell me i can't freshen my hair and makeup if I wish. I also have a torn off a piece of paper off the mirror to freshen up . Admittedly I was careful not to be seen doing it, but did it anyhow.

  i don't feel like starting anything profoundly spiritual.

  so, i'll share this tip that has worked for my kinfolk.. on both sides of my family, we frequently suffer from nighttime leg craps.

  Perhaps it has to do with the odor of the soap- some ingredient basic to all soap. Maybe it is a form of aromatherapy. I do think that can work. Years ago I was plagued with migraines. I was getting ready to see the doc and sprayed on some green apple body spray. Amazingly my headache lessened. I arrived at my docs and told him .He agreed some smells can cause changes in the brain like the green apple did for me.

  {iam not comfortable sharing experiences here yet but here's some personal demons}.

  as a kid my parents divorced so my mum moved with her two kids from a nice leafy family suburb, to a government housing estate...or hell as i remember it!

  one day at our train station a man followed me in to the toilet.

  I'm so glad you made it. Some experiences will stay with you forever. PTSD is hard to fix, no wonder soldiers are frequently ill upon returning home.

  My therapist once told me "any childhood you survive is a good one". He was raised in Brooklyn NY. He frequently had to fight in the streets. .

  We once moved up- state and had to live in a housing project. It was the late 70's. My child got chased to school and home. They threw cold water on our cat during a freezing (below 0) winter and nearly killed it. A drug dealer lived across the hall from us, This was really the only time in our lives that being jws ever helped us. We were so naive that we never suspected he was a drug dealer. ,Despite no visible means of support, a Cadillac, expensive furniture and and bling.. He never bothered us, He knew we were too stupid to be of any harm to him.
