by Room 215 inyesterday's wt study's specious attempt to forge a link to literacy/reading comprehension/ study of the bible got me to wondering about the historic levels of world literacy.
i. it would seem that the people of biblical times had neither public schooling nor any widespread access to copies of the scriptures.
hand-copied scrolls from the sacred writings were in the possession of the elite ruling and clerical classes; hence the custom of public readings of scriptures at the synagogues on the sabbath, ostensibly to the masses who had neither the ability to read or access to these writings.

Some may noat care to see let say their young family members becoming brain washed and window whashers.
Some may not YET be educated on the matter to be able to resist family/group pressure. It really may be an SLOW proccess Despite the fact (back to the topic) that the jw religion has no scriptural foundation. As the original poster said:" has been systematically defeated as a coherent scheme of doctrine".
It is ok to join or stay as long as it does not hurt. Then again you may be getting hurt, irreparble injuries caused and not being aware. "If a great change (injury) is difficult to quantify, it can pass unnoticed". People get used to routines, and if part of the routine is struggling to make a living, what time, will power and energy is left?
Many have left because of the "coherent scheme of doctrine" made no sense, they are those who dedicated some time an energy to think about it.

1.- "is BECOMING worn out", There tare ime limits, you know. How slow is "slowly".
2.- What about if someone offer you 100 million to speed up the "slowly" process? What about SIX MONTH... (if that much time reminds you about anything).

Really, many jw just dont have what it takes to move on.
The excuse about impact on family and friends relations is becoming an worn out excuse.
If to the same person you offer 100 million dollar to leave the jw, would they think twice?
Being true to yourself is worth.. how much did you say?
No one would eat garbage and waste time walking around in circle just because his/her relatives are crazy and lthey like to do so and if stop doing that...

Was the WT balanced on the amount of material they published about the above mentioned issues?
If not, Why not?
Who was (were) responsible for requesting to the writting dept. to write about a particular subject.or policy?
How was it decided that a particular subject or matter had to be included (or omited) in the new publication or ariticle.
Was the written material reviewed and approved before printing?

Bill Bowen's unfortunate attack

i have decided to do so, however, because i am saddened at what bill bowen has chosen to do in reference to ray franz.
let me say that i given bill full marks for publicizing an issue child abuse and the watchtower cover up of it and for taking a stand that has cost him a great deal personally.

by Amazing inhad the usa known in advance that the wtc was going to be attacked, we could and should have taken preemptive action.
there was some 'fuzzy' knowledge that this might happen, but not enough to know the day or hour.
