jw or not it is a rat race goin nowhere.. in developing countries situation is even worst, merely survival.
If we are very ignorant we go insane for not knowing what is going on.. If we have some knowledge and reasoning power we go insane not knowing the source of human suffering nor the solutions.
No wonder most people are on drugs, from tobbaco and alcohol to (younameit)
The expected 'new world' (by 1975, then before the end of the XX century) was a good mental survival 'tool' which is no longer effective. .
Brain is complex organ, family and social support and a very special supplemental nutritional program can help. But as a jw when the person makes a mistake (according to jw rules), that's when the needed support, at the most critical moment is not there, shunning.
Under stress nutritional requirements increase greatly, mental stress can make you physically sick and to make it worst, a sick body is stressful for the body itself... to eliminate stress resting is ordered, inducing the person to sleep with medication if if neccesary
You'll find that the serum (sp?) commonly inyected to patients (why?) is mainly water with minerals that our body need to heal, nutrients that should be in the food we eat daily. Good and apropriate fuel is a key element for an engine to run smoothly.

Yes, shocked.
I.M.O. it is the greatest issue i ever heard. It is related to the the most important doctrine ("God's Kingdom") teached by wt and a key entity (UN) to play a very very importan role just before the END.
Other issues such as blood, child molester etc just dont compare.

Are You or Were You Ever On Meds For Depression?
by minimus ini know so many people, not just witnesses that are on zoloft or similar drugs.
i know of some that, once they left the "truth", stopped taking these meds and have not had to go back on them.
i know of some that, if they did not have them, would not be able to properly function......what about you?

What tirgger depression? many things...
hard to face problems or situations to deal with, without family or social support,
in turn it may open the door to question the meaning of life (btw, a quesiton without an apropriate answer)
Partial solutions,
Stay busy, be productive, always.
Learn to deal with stresful situations
Do physical activity, at least do long walks, better yet if the activity is to produce or accomplish something in particular,
Be open to friendship, even ocassional talk to strangers, without any particular interest or seeking benefit from it.
I think that is why jw 'used' to feel good after going door to door (when people used to open their doors and be willing to talk, not any more) , they called it receiving god's spirit... it was actually 'sharing' with other human beings that made them feel good.
Generally speaking, we have to give our body and mind the chance to reach a balance, it may not be easy if we dont understand what our body and mind need to function 'normally'.
It seem to me that many decades ago our economic and social structure were much better for our mental health.

Where do you think evil (or bad behavior) comes from?
by wordlywife inbeing worldly i try to get my head around this sometimes, and wondered what others opinions are.
being that my husband is a long time witness i know what the witness view is, it is all satan's doing.
since most of you are "out", has your view on the source of evil/unacceptable behavior, (whatever you personally find just out-right wrong, for me it is child sexual abuse), changed?

The more educated a sociatiy becomes the less evil,.. not in reference to pure knowledge or "intelligence",
any insane external influence is more likely to have an effect on ignorant people.

i used to live in chicago and i moved back to my home town just to be near my sisters.
my husband had to search high and low for his line of work in this town and loved me enough to move back when he saw how sad i was without them.

it may give you a clue, not that "wordly" education will cure the sickness (toxic) but... at least usually makes it less evident.

I said the answer provided by the wt may be PARTIALLY right, as the source of evil or bad behaivor may be influenced by an external source.
In fact, bad behaivor, in the way i see it, has become an snow ball, partially motivated by materialistic desires, unrelated to the need for survival.
The obvious thing is that we dont know the answer, but it should not be a joking matter, as we ussually do when we can't explain something.
We demand to be able to know everything, when we dont even uderstand the invisible power of so common magnets and electromagnetic waves.
Not only the wt, but religion has provided or adopted an asnwer that so far is the most convincing for most individuals, of course those who try harder see contradictions in the answer provided by religion.

That is the most important question that has been presented in this board... it goes to the root of many other topics on this board.
I have been thinking about it for many years.
The answer provided by the WT may be partially right.
I have observed how muliple unrelated/nonconected persons, for no apparent reason, behave or commit evil acts in sync or support of other evil acts, just like a conspiracy in which there is a central control.
In some cases the unrelated/nonconnected persons have a common contact point (another individidual) but in many cases there is not a common contact individual, group or government that can be identified.
A couple of month ago someone started a related thread: "are humans intrinsically bad" or something like that.

Let's face it...
Those xjw who have real problem associating with wordly people is just becasue inside xjw know they dont agree with the general way of thinking of "wordly" people.
Been there done that.
For too many wordly people i have known it is the norm to lie, play mind games, curse, smoke, drink a lot and use of drugs etc etc. I for one can't go along with stupidity.
However many xjw are reluctant to do things that they know is not good for their health.
Generally speaking i consider "weak", dont even trust people who smoke too much. To me, I have observed that heavy smoking is just a "sign", a symptom.
