Women are the weaker sex
by stillajwexelder inthis proves the bible and the wtbts wrong.
the scripture says women are the weaker sex - wll as most men will surely admit t this is a load of crap - women are incredibly strong.

Oro,
But can one say whether he would be the same way had he not been a JW or can we say positively that being a JW TAUGHT him to be this way.
As far as i know we are mainly a product of our ENVIRONMENT. jW religion is tight environment...
What this is really is the age-old debate about personality and character and whether such aspects of such are the product of natural/genetic features, social-familial influences or learned from some more external source such as a religion.
It might be and "old debate" but in general the studies and statistics should be evidence to demostrate what is the MAJOR factor, to show who is wining the debate. In this jw case for most of us, "social-familial influences" can not be separated from the "external" "religion" "source"..
However, if an ex-Witness, or current Witness, can come to terms with reality--and that reality includes both the truths and the lies of the Watchtower, then what can result is a very centered person, one who is often more mentally and emotionally healthy than many a non-witness or other Christian.
You can say that again.
Uncle,
G'day one, Are you the one from H20?
Thanks, I did get to do very few posting at H2O but i dont think i used "One" as my id.
I think there was someone else using "One" at H2O ,
then when i came to this board (as One) i received a nice welcome that scared me to the point that i decided not to post for more than a year.
For some reason the "welcome" thread are no longer availble for searching. In it "some" (wt style) insisted that I was the "One" at H2O and insisted that she/he could prove it and implied i owed an apology for some BIG mistake i (One) made.
Of course your new clean christlike personality (also refered to as 'the mark on ones forehead') no longer wants to associate with worldy people including ones family and friends.
it worked both ways, I could see that some stopped visiting just because jw relatives no longer enjoy smoking, telling derty jokes, playing lotto, drinking too much, engaging in some other "activities", politics. Therefore jw and nonjw relatives showed differents interest, setting them automatically apart. It also happens with just extreme different political inclinations.
In fact most long time jw never get adjusted to the "world" and THAT is the main reason.
doubt,
I must work on this because I'm refusing people based on their outside appearance and that's not good at all.
don't feel bad, not that we should "refuse", but extreme outside appearance is a clue to "something" else, usually.
FairMind
It is really hard to say how much benefit one gains from a religion as following a different road might have produced similar or greater benefits. Who knows?
di you say "similar or greater"? statistically (jw) speaking, very low probability.

A Political/Religious Question
by jeanniebeanz infound this interesting article online.
if it is correct, and please point me in the right direction here, the end paragraph seems to indicate that if the shiite population win the election in iraq it would serve to tighten the bond between iraq and iran.. do you feel that a tighter bond with iran is good for the plan to bring democracy to the region?
wouldn't it set up more problems?.

Are ex-jw's or "apostates" addicted to jw-bashing?
by booker-t inthis might seem like a funny question to ask but my mom told me that "apostates" are addicted to jw-bashing and cannot let it go and have a life.
i asked her what she meant by this statement and she told me that all ex-jw's talk about is the wts and jw's and negative things about the jw's.
she said that we get up thinking about jw-bashing and go to sleep thinking about jw-bashing just like a drug addict.

If you discuss or even complain about what Hitler did to the Jews and others, are you Hitler bashing?
could be, but that is an extreme analogy, actually we are talking about jw...
I am inclined to think that those who bash jw for a long period of time after coming out of the religion are inclined to complaint (not only about jw) or to be critical in a purely negative sense

Well, One all I can say is that your definition of bashing and mine are completely different.
it is not MY definition, i quoted the definition directly from a dictionary...

So, they see what I do as negative. So what?
I was having in mind jw family members... many here wish they could do something about their jw family,
jw family members usually "watch" at a distance, but if some don't care about realtives or what they think about us, so let it be.

Outbut,
Isn't that condemnation of us in itself a little negative?!?!
first, i think i am included myself (us) to some extent.
second, the "negative" within the context is "bashin", which i "try" to stay away from
bash = engage in harsh, accusatory, threatening criticism.
third, i mentioned that assuming a negative attitude is bad for our healh and THAT is "positive" to know.
Flying,
We weren't allowed to speak freely about anything like that.
sticking the topic, once we are free to talk, it is ok to bash for a while but become ADDICTED, not to "speak freely" but to bash is what may signal the need for some introversion, if you will, reading some selfhelp book or visiting a professional
Are we addicted to JW bashing? No, not at all.
You can speak for yourself but the "paper trail" is available to provide the answer with demostrative evidence
