we expected the usual shunning treatment, but surprisingly they initiated the "hellos and how are you" and seemed genuinely pleased to see us (we have been out of the org for over 3 yrs now and we are always shunned whenever we see former jw friends) it was such a surprise to us and we couldn't help wondering if the governing body have issued "new light" on the treatment of disassociated ones.

especially as these two families have completely avoided us for a long time, even though we personally wrote to them to explain our reasons for leaving (un involvement etc+) .

YES, somenthing going on, just last saturday and sunday several jw spoke to me, telephone numbers were suplied freely to me, VERY long talks with jw I never dreamed about having a conversation.

Some were asking for other xjw, showing 'interest' in finding out about them etc etc

REALLY strange... but there you have it, jw act only if corporate (gb) tell them to do it.

how do you feel about it?.

personally i am glad that in the uk we have the bbc channels without any advertising.

I am just waiting for Bill Gates to take over tv for good.

BTW, broadcasting (over the air) is a waste of bandwith (RF spectrum) which could be used for something else AND make broadband spectrum available for public access, FREE. Just like roads and highways. They claim WI_MAX will do that, an elaborated version of wi-fi.

If electricity reachs all homes why can't broadband reach all homes?, in fact it should be free too.

Sorry for the tangent, just a bad habit.

i just found out today (from my sister) that crooklyn will not be making any more bound volumes of the watchtower or awake magazines after this year------instead, they're all going to be on audio tape only.

she does not have a computer so i generously

i think this could very well be yet another tactic of the gb trying to keep a lid on their "embarassing" quotes of yesterday.

Any PRINTED word on paper can be scanned and converted to SEARCHABLE text.

Any recorded spoken word (cd) can be converted to text.

Any text can be converted to audio.

I beleive even XP comes with a feature to read aloud to you text from your pc, try it..

I Don't Watch Television!!!!!

i'm too cheap to pay for cable.

there's really not a lot of stuff to choose from that's worth watching for the price.

free tv sucks the most, reality shows and other mindless garbage that keep making its way to market.

I am waiting for Bill Gates ro reinvent TV or make "TV" on demand AND interactive TV a commong thing, it is the only hope for the rest of us nontvwatchers.

Electronic newspaper should all be interactive by now, voice to the people, empowerment .

WT does not follow or care about political jurisdiction... They have thier own world government controlled by over 100 "branches", so they also list separatly US Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico, even when those territories fully belong to the USA..

What is your theory on the series "Lost?"

i am a big fan of this series and have a couple of theories of what i think is happening and wondered what others thought, just wanting some insight.. one theory.

i think the people got on the plane and never actually crashed.

i think they were gassed and taken to a government (possible alien) location and their minds were feed the reality they think they are experiencing.

I dont know what character Michellle Mayte Rodriguez Pared is playing in the "Lost" series.

"Lost" is being filmed in Hawaii, the same state where they filmed "Blue Crush", in which she also played one of the main characters. Never watched the movie either, I dont like going to the movies or watching tv.

I should have made an excemption but... can rent dvd later i guess.
