while looking through stas charts on jwfacts i notice two charts of publishers through the years.. on them, it is very clear that growth fell off the chart after 1975 and dropped dramaticaly again at 2000.. we know why for 75 and remember that many understood the big a to come by 2000.. will 2014 mark a subconscious and hopefully conscious psychological reaction from jws and 'interested' ones i wonder?.

LOL - NO- I think they will "Cook the books". Look at what was done to pioneer hours to make Stats not look bad. Aux. pioneering. Publishers only require 15 MINUTES to be "Regular". If need be 15 MINUTES one time per year if needed to look good. Most congregation secretaries will do it for the publishers if will save the hassel of getting hounded by the Circuit Overseer.
In the US most of the growth come from foriegn language groups now. P.S. is JVN available in Spanish?

I never disfellowshipped a kid, but knew a number of congregations who did. It scarred kids for life. It seemed that most of the time the acting out was from something else going on at home, or school, that was unknown. If a child is acting out enough to tell the Elders, they need therapy from a PRO. I have lost sleep over realizing I should have asked better questions from certain kids acting out..because I found out later they had suffered some form of abuse or mental health issue. An hour in the library with the "brothers" does not help those issues.
Having been a parent..I understood the "fear factor"& leverage of the "3 Bears" but I always felt it was mentally and emotionally abusive to use that forum with kids. Disfellowshipping and Public announcements are wrong for 95% of adults..for kids..it should be a CRIME reported to Child Protective Services.

Not a paid formal network like the CIA or KGB, but JW "contacts" who work at a number of U.S. Agencies. This is not a belief, but was a fact when I was at Bethel. It WAS the reason JWs stopped asking for specific amounts of money at the door for Magazines and instead started saying "Donations". I heard about the change and the information by a member of the Governing BodyBEFORE it was instituted. The players I knew are retired and dead now. Back then underground countries used a "mail drop" as well. So I was curious as to what current status was and if anyone on this site was more current. With the expansion and sophistication of the IT and legal departments I would expect this to have become more sophisticated over time, not less.
Religious and patriotic "DUTY" are very strong motivators and have been driving forces for FREE information gleaning for thousands of years.
I had a very close relative (not a JW) ex- military, electronics Company executive who for years traveled to East Bloc countries for his employer. He and his employer gladly provided US agencies information and assistance gratis. He had quite the eclectic assortment of "people" at his backyard BBQs upon return from trips to the East Bloc. Most countries do this. Isreal is the most adept with this because of the wide dispersion of patriotic/religious Jews who "help" for free. VERY common.
The medical records thing is simply the result of a small percentage of "fervent sisters" at medical facilities calling local C.O.s.- NOT organized.

One evening at dinner time a guy suddenly burst through the double swinging doors into the dining room swinging his arms and bookbag in the air shouting " I'M GOING OUT IN SERVICE IN HARLEM....ANYONE WHO WANTS TO GO WITH ME...COME ON !!" A couple of brothers grabbed him under the arms and dragged him kicking and screaming out of there backwards....he was never seen again.
I didn't see that, but a couple of similar instances. I was disturbed at the number of what was called "nervous breakdowns". Some brothers within a MONTH were so disallusioned they had to sent home. The disconnect between what was SEEN and EXPERIENCED at Headquarters VS what they had grown up BELIEVING BROKE many into little pieces.

No doubt, if caught and fired, or arrested, many JWs would feel they were being persecuted for "righteousness sake" by Satans World.

I have known a few dozen JWs mostly sisters working with Medical records locally. Only three have contacted the brothers. The Elders involved approached the JWs involved, pulled them into the backroom and got confessions in most cases. A couple of Blood cases they were on "meds".In only one case did the Sister involved deny and insist on the source. It turned into a sticky wicket for those brothers and especially for the Sister who disclosed the information.
Paralipomenon, I have never personally heard of anyone being "planted" in a government agency. ( The brother I knew from Gilead, told me he worked within congregations). The specific cases I was told about were people who already had secretarial and clerical jobs initiating contact with the WTBTS. I don't know about Canada, but in the US you don't need to be MENSA to work for the government !! :)
