Did you think Dinosaurs were destroyed in the Flood?
by LoisLane looking for Superman inin our jw bible, they placed a friendly dinosaur on the inside front cover on the old time map of the middle east.. you look at that, and see where the placement to where the garden of eden is and that was the image i got in my mind.
dinosaurs lived, but were too big to save in the flood, and besides they had outlived their purpose of fertilizing the earth.
i feel stupid for the thinking i had when i was 'in'.. is that how you 'thought' when you were 'in'?.

I also thought I would be forced to live in the sewer when "we would be forced underground during persecution". ugg. So my cousins and I made up a knotted rope w/ a cross stick to lower ourselves under sewer grates to explore the storm sewers in town. Our folks could not understand the facination with sewers.

10 Years out of the JW Organization- What I've Learned ( For what it's Worth)
by flipper in10 years ago i stopped attending jehovah's witness meetings for good.
walked out of the kingdom hall cold turkey never to return based on injustices i observed among others and myself at the hands of elders giving out not god's counsel but personal opinions as counsel .
some of them weren't even giving out wt society counsel- just personal opinions.

Interesting thread. The wife and I are thinking of trying various "service" clubs. She was unimpressed with the "Moose" club. Thinking of checking out "Elks". We have helped with some community charity fund raisers for sick children. We do the Chamber of Commerce thing. Ideas???????

Question for Ex-Elders: Do you have any guilt regarding past "council" and what if anything, have you done about it?
by Balaamsass inlost a bit of sleep the last few nights regarding bogus wtbts company line "council" i gave people in the past...especially teenagers as an elder.
curious if others are experiencing the same feelings after awakening to the truth, and what you have done about it.. .

How men become homosexuals...
by Calebs Airplane infinally, i've found the reason why some men become homosexuals.. the 1976 book "your youth: getting the best of it" explains it here in great detail.... .

As a native San Franciscan, and former Bethelite...I believe Bethel has more Gays per capita than San Francisco. Some are NPGs (non-practicing gays), some have "beards" ( wives & celibate marriages), some are "chicken hawks" (prefer boys). WAY too much concern about sex with the Popes of Brooklyn. A tad Creepy.

i've seen only a few talks by gb members and would like to hear what they're like.

Ray Franz was quite a thinker. Four of us debated the entire blood transfusion/fractions thing vs Kosher rules for 3 hrs at work one day. Another day field service on Saturadays vs TV broadcasts...and what would Jesus choose were he on earth for a couple of hours. THOSE conversations would = Disfellowshipping in most congregations today.

Have you grown detached from caring about JW family and old friends?
by tootired2care inafter being out of the borg for a year and a half, weve dealt with a lot of nonsense from local elders stopping by unannounced, well-meaning do-gooders trying to encourage us.
somehow weve managed to get through this without getting dfd/dad.
for me the worst part of it all has been that much of my family has shunned me, and stopped talking to me, as soon as they heard through the grapevine that i wasnt going to meetings.

We have made efforts to connect with friends and family members that were shunned by family in the past and have made ourselves available to family even after becomming "inactive". I have made efforts to connect with EX jw friends. Some current JWs have "marked us" - funny these are mostly the pompous self righteous types who never really bought into Watchtower chronology and served where the "greed was greater"in California. The Bethelites, and missonaries treat us just fine. lol!
As far as my attitude about WBTS...and the "Popes of Brooklyn", if people want to believe in "Santa" and the "Moon is made of cheese"...that is their right.
