Lawyers: Can a Jehovah's Witness sue the Watchtower Society for Civil Rights violations?
by Balaamsass ini have been on boards and run businesses, and been reminded by more than one cpa and attorney to cross ts and dot i s regarding corporate requirements or we would become liable to lawsuits.. therefore, my questions to any attorneys and cpas, and the keen minds on this board, are the following;.
i have been reading old threads on this site about watchtower society irregularities regarding tax filings with state and federal agencies.
evidently, a number of filings for different years were identical (unlikely if not impossible) or missing.

Would Witnesses drink "the cool-aid" if instructed to by the Governing body?
by Witness 007 inmy anionted mum always said she's "willing to die for the truth like the brothers in the concentration camps".....how many witnesses would do this, like the "heavens gate" suicide group or the tokyo cult that tried to start armagedon with subway gas attacks or even the 9/11 terrorists?.
the brothers in the camps in world war 2 were told by rutherford this is armagedon.
so they thought a quick death and then "poof"...i'm in paradise.. .

If you were raised in a home with a JW parent and a non-JW parent: a few questions
by Lady Lee inif you were raised in a home with a jw parent and a non-jw parent: a few questions.. i am going to be addressing the international cultic studies association (icsa) in july at the conference in montreal.
my focus is on 3 groups.
the third group consists of people people who grew up in homes where one parent was a jw and the other wasn't.

- Was your non-J.W. parent ever a J.W.? NO- Agnostic
- Who was responsible for your religious upbringing? The J.W. or the non-J.W.? JW
- Did they argue about it? NO
- Were you forced to go? YES
- Did the non-JW parent have any real say in how the family celebrated holidays?NO
- Over all what impact did this split household have on your childhood and even later in life? Undermined my relationship with my father. Elders became my defacto Father. Caused me to look down on my father as “Worldly sinner”. And ignore his plans for college.
- What would you want therapists to know about your situation? Causes divided families.
- Any other thoughts? Caused great stress in parents’ marriage and lead to their divorce when I was 11.

latest JW chain email
by fade_away ini got this e-mail from my family members (along with some heavy preaching and guilt trips).....it always baffles me how gullible they are and it's sad to see them stumble around in the dark bumping into each other.
according to some wishful thinking jws, "babylon the great's end is coming soon".... september 2012 to be exact.
yes that's right....another prophecy.

LOL!!! That happened after 9/11 and before 2012. For a little fun tell them that "email must be from apostates, because WTBTS says the UN will turn against organized religion first"- ______Who sent that to you? You need to turn them in!!!!!

Could some of the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society, and Jehovahs Witnesses Governing Body be suffering from Schizophrenia?
by Balaamsass incould some of the watchtower bible and tract society, and jehovahs witnesses governing body be suffering from schizophrenia?.
does it strike you as odd that millions of jehovahs witnesses and the multi-billion dollar watchtower bible and tract society might be directed by men who received a special calling by god as teenagers in the 70s?.
in light of the fact that 99% of jehovahs witnesses accepted the accepted watchtower doctrine that the 144,000 were sealed in 1935, those that suddenly began partaking in later years, (especially untested youth) were frequently met with raised eyebrows and thought of as possibly mentally diseased in times past.. could there be an explanation?

Could some of the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society, and Jehovah’s Witnesses “Governing Body” be suffering from Schizophrenia?

In light of the fact that 99% of Jehovah’s Witnesses accepted the accepted Watchtower doctrine that the 144,000 were sealed in 1935, those that suddenly began “partaking” in later years, (especially untested youth) were frequently met with raised eyebrows and thought of as possibly “mentally diseased” in times past.
Could there be an explanation? A quick Google enquiry came up with some food for thought. Evidently, Schizophrenia is as common as one in 100 individuals, and “Most cases of schizophrenia appear in the late teens or early adulthood”.
Common schizophrenic delusions include:
- Delusions of persecution – Belief that others, often a vague “they,” are out to get him or her. These persecutory delusions often involve bizarre ideas and plots. (The Apostates are conspiring against me- we need to make a compound in the country.)
- Delusions of reference – A neutral environmental event is believed to have a special and personal meaning. “That scripture spoke to ME”.
- Delusions of grandeur – Belief that one is a famous or important figure….”the belief that one has unusual powers that no one else has.” (Anointed, prophet or Governing body?).
- Delusions of control – Belief that one’s thoughts or actions are being controlled by outside, forces (God?)…. thought insertion (“God’s holy spirit plants thoughts in my head”).
What do you think?

Opinions on keeping your identity secret
by rebel8 insome ex-jws feel strongly we should all be "out of the closet" so we can present real faces to the public on the issue of cult dangers.
to those folks i say, more power to you, all the best.. for my own life i have a different approach.. compartmentalizing is healthy for me.
it keeps my past in the past.

rebel8- I agree with you 100% why give them anymore of your short life. I also agree 100% with those who have sacraficed to set up web-sites like this. I don't know how they do it, but I even agree with those who are on this site and still serving at Bethels, and as C.O.s. reporting and trying to change the Borg from within.
For us, we try to catch-up a few few times a week and sometimes let a month or more pass. I have set up "news alerts" on some of my browsers, so when something particularly juicy comes along I just click on the link. By staying off the local JW radar we have gotten a little peace and extra time in our lives. By not "comming out of the closet" :), the Mrs and I have been able to "help more honest hearted ones" in fewer hours than we ever did in the Borg. I still get weekly calls from active JWs on a broad range of questions. I usually am able to remind them that "90% of the Kings of Isreal we bad, should we expect any less... if.... this is the time of the end"? I suggest they simply "Google" certain subjects...and voila! They end up on this site, Cedar's, Randy's and Barbara's.....:). In turn, they do the same thing, and on, and on, it goes...so... keep up the good work...whatever work you can do!
I only wish more sites were available in Spanish..then we would really see a decrease in stats.

I heard that two of the GB started "partaking" as teens in the 70s, is this true? I KNOW what 99% of JWs would have thought back then if they were in the same Congregation.

Any suggestions on handling financial abuse of a senior by the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society?
by Balaamsass indoes anyone here have any suggestions on handling financial abuse of a senior by the watchtower bible and tract society?
mom gave a lot of money to the watchtower bible and tract society over her lifetime- (6 figures).
after she ran low on funds she made a 5 figure "conditional loan" to wtb&ts.

Thanks everyone,
Obviously if the Governing body actually had a fear of God, or higher moral standards like they claim she would not be in this jam. A year ago I was scratching my head about this and many other issues, untill I realized there was no difference between Watchtower publishing and the Catholic Church they berated for 100 years. It is all about money, worship and a sense of power.
