can anyone imagine the what the elders in his current congregation must be going through ?!.

in their ideal world, they would have df'd him once they knew there would be a trial so they could play the card "he's not one of jw's.

" but since it occurred in a different congregation and he was already punished, there is little they can currently do.. wow, imagine the buzz in the kh when the info started leaking out.

Yes...and no.... he might be on "restrictions". I was an elder, and one molester and his wife (who had always stood by her man) who moved in from another area..away from his victims, sat in the 2cd row of the hall and piously held their hands up to give long winded pious answers at EVERY meeting. I wanted to puke. ( I had a secret longing to take that guy in "rural territory" and dump him in a septic tank).

I can't find an Oakley Ca hall. Oakley might attend the Brentwood Hall......

kendrick (perpetrator) 60% = $16.8 million.

wtb&ts of ny 27% = $7.56 million.

I hope they go after EVERYONE. The perp, the elders, the congregation, and WTBS. If individuals feel the pain they caused a child, it will have an impact.

i have been reading comments on jvn, huffington, san jose mercury, nbc, and other sources.

I am stunned by Candace's huge court victory. It is overdue. I have been reading comments on JVN, Huffington, San Jose Mercury, NBC, and other sources. I spoke with a Jesuit attorney, and I have also called some JWs who were in service this Saturday to get feedback.

I was a little surprized by comments from "average Joes" who simply lumped JWs in with Catholics priests. My Jesuit co-worker said "your people are just trying to out-do priests!"

According to current JWs, the Sat AM donut shop talk was all about this today. One JW told me the comments were moronic, ie: " Was she in good standing?" " Those jurors must hate JWs!" " He wasn't even an Elder"- He asked:" if she was a wordly person would that make it OK ?" He was met with blank stares.

I am certain my mother will say " This just proves Satan and the WOORLLLY people are persecuting JWs, cause we are at the tipppppppppppppy ennnnnnddddddd of this system."

Follow @msnbc_us The Alameda County Superior Court jury on Thursday awarded $21 million in punitive damages to the plaintiff, who is now 26 years old. That was on top of the $7 million in compensatory damages it awarded her on Wednesday. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Watchtower Bible and Tract Society of New York, the Jehovah’s Witnesses’ legal entity, is responsible for the entire punitive damages amount and 40 percent of the compensatory damages, said Rick Simons, attorney for the plaintiff.
