I was a bank teller. I think I really have to take some online courses to keep my brain fresh.

by Whynot insince waking up i can't help but look at the future in a different way.
while i was working i felt it was ridiculous for me to start a 401k because i thought for sure the end would come before i retired.

Do any of the 144,000 in heaven take part in the destruction at Armageddon?
by Bonnie_Clyde ini wondered about that when i heard garret loesch state that shortly before the tribulation the governing body would be taken up.
.
if this is the case, it seems like garret and the other seven would be there just in time to help out in the killing of billions.. i thought they used to say that some would survive armageddon before they were taken up..

That's exactly what they have been teaching for a long time. The 144k will be in heaven and start armageddon with Jesus.

Jesus—a real, historical person
by Ireneus injesus was a real and historical person (not the way jws or the rest of the people think him to be) because of the following historical facts:.
1) the fact that the most influential political establishment of that time (roman empire) was convinced that jesus’ name would sell to suit their political agenda (to promote slavery) shows that jesus was as historical as roman empire itself; hence they implanted slavery-friendly verses into the bible as though spoken by jesus (such as mathew 5:39, 41; 24:45 ..etc) this was in contrast to the real personality jesus really was—he was a man of courage, who ‘walked alone to do what is right if those invited refused to accompany him.’ when his family and disciples were fond of sleeping, his delight was to spend early morning hours alone, in meditation, with god to the extent he could say he was “one” with qualities of god.
(mark 1:35; john 8:1, 2; 10:30) such a person would naturally be too famous and too crowd-pulling against whom even the influential people were helpless even when they were whipped out of the temple which reminds us of “hollywood rambo style” merely because of his moral authority (not that he had any supernatural powers to perform miracles).. 2) similarly, emerging religion (apostate christianity) too knew they could misuse the name of jesus to serve its commercial agenda.

Religious organizations, maybe. But not without religious or spiritual beliefs. There are too many unexplained things that happen on this earth that can only be explained by spiritual beliefs.
Like tiki said, some people feel it more strongly and that is very true.

Since waking up I can't help but look at the future in a different way. While I was working I felt it was ridiculous for me to start a 401k because I thought for sure the end would come before I retired. But now, I'm a stay at home mom with very small children and it bothers me that I have done nothing to prepare for the future. I was thinking of getting a Roth IRA since my husband works I can do that. What have uou guys done?
I still have about 20 years to save up for retirement. One of the things I want to do is go back to work when my youngest starts school and save up that way. I just want to start now.

Anti-JW movie on Netflix?
by Ray Frankz ini'm watching the new netflix movie "come sunday".
it's one more film about a person who has turning point in life that demands the person to reevaluate his own faith and belief system.
in this case, the man is a petencostal bishop that gets very famous and has a big church preaching about salvation to heaven and punishment in hell.

I have thought about this. It would be great. Some witnesses may see it out of curiosity. It would be great.

Endure or Enjoy??
by stuckinarut2 inhave we ever noticed how witnesses are constantly being told that life is something that needs to be "endured", rather that "enjoyed"?.
life is always so tough, so hard, so difficult in "these last days".
"persecution and trials abound".

I remeber back in the 90s the JWs were accused many times of being a negative religion. I'm glad you pointed this out. I know several JWs who are always focused on themselves and how hard their life is. Good post.
When I was a teen and pioneering, a bitter JW told me I shouldn't travel or have plans/goals in life until we're in paradise. Ugh! I hated talking to her.

Nephew’s JW Fiancée Begins Conversion to Judaism Due to Passover Date
by Rabbi Midge init’s been a while since i posted, but for those who remember, i came on here to get some information about jehovah’s witnesses because i have a nephew who was getting engaged to a girl who was a jehovah’s witness and, along with some other sites, i was recommended this one.. since then we’ve been busy with passover and jehovah’s witnesses have had something they call the memorial of christ’s death (i believe i have that right).
this clashing of the two observances apparently did more for this girl than anything else i ever saw in our months of conversations with her.. respectfully, jews do not proselytize.
these are people who, of their own desire, “join the tribe” after some years of study and practice--something this girl has just begun to do.

His fiancee, I believe, has never really thought for herself. This is common amongst JWs. The poor thing... she must be devastated. The JWs who actually study and are familiar with the Jewish calendar know of the discrepency. Their excuse is that they use a pre-exilic calendar, but it's true that even regular calendars list the Passover. At least mine do. It's one of those things JWs just go along with like whatever.
I feel jealous that she got invited to a Passover Seder. I tried to invite myself over but it didn't work lol. There aren't a lot of Jewish families where I live but my son and I love learning about the Jewish culture. It's one of the things I miss about NY. I only know 1 family and she was nice enough to give me some extra dreidals for Hannukkah.
Also, I love The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel!!!
