It makes me sick that they refuse to cooperate with authorities over child sexual abuse. They make up all these rules for the members but somehow these don't apply to them. I just don't understand how they can justify this.

Dutch government look for possibility to revoke JW charity status (=tax breaks) after JW refuse independent investigation re. abuse
by Anders Andersen inwell, the title says it all.
the dutch government will look into the possibility to revoke the charity status of jw after they refused to cooperate in the child abuse scandal.. the government urged the jw to start an independent investigation into the jw child abuse issues, and after some stalling the jw flatout refused.
unfortunately the government can't really force them.. the chance that the charity status is actually revoked is very small as there appears to be no legal basis to do so, but right now the government and house of representatives are very annoyed with jw.. and in the meantime the da will continue their investigation based on the victims officially reporting abuse to the police..

Yoga Sutras Of Pantanjali (1600 Years Ago)
by Brokeback Watchtower ini know a lot of people might not want anything to do with any religion and i can sympathize, the bible an ancient collection of books compiled by the catholic church authorities and the some what restricted version by protestant movement we have the less voluminous of collected "holy" books call the king james.
which i think we have a lot to learn from them if we look at them from a more psychological point of view and not force them to be literally understood.. i think it is the same with these sutras, what is it telling us about the mind?
what can we expect from certain meditative practices.

Oh wow! Brokeback I had no idea that it actually had a positive effect.
Like I said I'm taking babysteps with meditation. I know this may sound strange but I mix my prayers to Jehovah in Jesus' name with meditation. I really, really enjoy it so far. I haven't regressesed to a past life but a name and certain foreign music kept playing in my head yesterday all day lol. The name is Yashi Noel. Never heard that name in my life and actually I don't even know if it's a place or name for something else. I have seen beautiful things though. Baby steps. I'm very new to this and still a little nervous about it.

The Psychology Of Self Transformation (after leaving the Watchtower Corporation)
by Brokeback Watchtower inbeing in a mind control cult and having been indoctrinated for many years severely suppresses what we really are or realizing our full potential, it causes one to lose track of him/herself.
being told what to hate, who to shun, to please the corporation sock puppet jehovah can really cause one to put many of ones natural desires and talents in ones shadow, this can lead to depression because we are living the our life with the uniform cult personality.
maturing in this type of cult indoctrination will usually lead to all types of psychic suffering because we are not living true to our dna but a much more inferior cult made personality.

I have read about this before but when it comes to meditation I prefer to use Brian Weiss' method. With his method, the experience is healing and positive. I wouldn't want to do a type of meditation that could be harmful or scary. That poor guy...it must have been terrifying for him.

Not sure what information it will have about the witnesses but I hope they talk about the sex abuse scandal. Most JWs I know are excited to purchasing it.
Has anyone heard about this? Is this real?

My Personal Atheist Manifesto?
by dubstepped inso, i have a guy that is emailing me after listening to my podcast series "this jw life" about my life story before, during, and after being a jw.

Wow! I'm not an atheist but I have to say that I totally understand where you are coming from. Actually, I used to be an atheist. I find it absolutely dispicable that anyone would suggest killing youself because of your beliefs. Atheists can and DO enjoy life. Probably even better and more genuinely than most Christians I know.
I see my kids and observe them and I can't help but think that they know love, need unconditional love and it really doesn't matter if there's a god or not. They know how to treat others and show compassion at a young age.

Public Talk invitations ....Next to .Zero Attendees
by smiddy3 infrom my conversion at the end of 1959 to my leaving the j.w`s about early 1993 i remember especially in the first 20 -30 years or so giving out invitations to public talks that were to be given at our local k.h.
every time i went out in the service witnessing from door to door week in week out i would leave these tracts at not at homes or whoever would accept them .. and in my personal experience i cannot recall more than five worldly / non j.w.
people , if that , who came to a public talk as a result of the invitations given at the doors in our witnessing work in the 33 years of my being an active jehovah`s witness .. and none of them ever became a jehovah`s witness .. was it just me ?

Out of all the hundreds who I have invited maybe like 6 showed up. I don't think they ever became JWs either. A few started studying though.
