hi i’m getting disfellowshipped on thursday and was wondering what advice those that have left have for me.
i’m not sure if i still believe or not.
.
I highly recommend the book The Subtle Power of Spiritual Abuse and Combating Cult Mind Control. It really helped me. Start over and make new friends. Do those hobbies you've always wanted to do and focus on your new beginning.

blood of the lowly horseshoe crab helps save humans
I was just researching about shellfish and blood. This is an excellent thread! Scientists also have found that they contain plasma which is prohibited according to the BORG.
i'll play devil's advocate.... true, the mosaic law code prohibited the eating of blood.
but jesus fulfilled the law covenant thus wiping out all the laws previously set.
but then later, (through god's spirit, of course wink wink) the abstaining of blood was again brought to followers of christ.
Crustaceans aren't bled out. Their blood doesn't contain red blood cells but it does contain PLASMA which is a prohibited component. I was researching the crustaceans white cells and platelets but I am still reading the research. It looks like they do contain similarities. But I can't understand why it's ok to eat shellfish since it does contain plasma. There is nothing in the bible that explains this other than DON'T EAT!

this article won’t change your mind - the facts on why facts alone can’t fight false beliefs.
brilliant article in the atlantic by julie beck discussing the phenomena of cognitive dissonance and how it affects religious and political beliefs.
it includes some interesting thoughts on how social media has magnified the problem.. spoiler - she is not optimistic about the possibility of successfully reasoning with members of religious cults.. the article also has a link to the 45 minute audio version.. link....
As someone who knows cognitive dissonance too well, I really appreciate articles like these. I feel a bit embarassed about it too but at least I know I can better myself now.
in fact, only three books of the hebrew scriptures, 1 chronicles, job, and zechariah, mention satan, which means “resister.” why was little said about our enemy prior to the arrival of the messiah?.
3 apparently, jehovah did not want to give satan undue prominence by devoting large portions of the hebrew scriptures to discussing him and his activity.
jehovah’s primary purpose for inspiring that section of the scriptures was to identify the messiah and lead god’s people to him.. .
Christianity has given a lot of prominence to Satan. Scholars conclude that the personification of Satan was influenced by Gentile Christians who kept some of their pagan beliefs.
not quite a week ago, @lost in the fog created a thread entitled: do you have this illness?.
https://www.jehovahs-witness.com/topic/5187824140681216/do-you-have-this-illness.
in my year of being on this forum, i have browsed many a disillusioned thread of ex-jehovah’s witnesses expressing similar symptoms of post traumatic stress disorder when detailing their awakening - my own story included.
Beautiful post! I really needed to see it. It's been a tough 4 years for me but these past months as a fader have been the hardest. It's good to understand what and how we process these feelings and emotions. Sometimes it can be overwhelming.
there is more “ yellow journalism “ than ever before!
newscasters and writers that you thought were trustworthy often miss the mark.. do you generally accept the “news” as being honest?.
No way. It feels more like they're trying to make everyone think a certain way. They don't give all the necessary details.
jeremiah 7:31 says, "they have built the high places of toʹpheth, which is in the valley of the son of hinʹnom, in order to burn their sons and their daughters in the fire, something that i had not commanded and that had never even come into my heart.’".
according to this scripture it's unthinkable for jehovah to be pleased with child sacrifices.
but yet he sent his son to be killed as a sacrifice for all?.
When you look at this from a historical angle and read what the early church fathers had to say it is different.
I also take into consideration which letters almost didn't make it into the bible and why when studying this. There's much to consider that's why I will be breaking this subject up and discussing them.
I want to gather more documented research to share. I hope it will be enjoyable at leadt for those who still read the bible.
