I too put up my first tree, ever. It looks great and the kidos are excited to see their presents under it. In addition, I put up a Yule tree in my office at work. I have a Thor action figure topper. It is a huge hit with my co-workers. Someone even bought a Mjolnir hammer as part of the white elephant gift exchange. Hail Thor Odinson!

Almost every doctrine of Jehovah's Witnesses and their evil empire is based on inference and conjecture of scripture. It is all pseudo-deduction.
"Jesus said, 'Go therefore and make disciples. Baptising them in the name of the father, and the son, and the holy spirit.' So, Jesus commands us to preach and, if you don't, he'll kill you for being disobediant at Armageddon." - Watchtower logic.
In over 3 decades of being a Witness, after literally thousands of hours spent in the "door-to-door ministry" I never once "made a disciple" and, unless you're an elder, you never baptize anyone. So, it was all for not according to scripture.
I'm now a devote aethist, but I still study scripture. At this point I can tell you this much: Just read what Jesus said in the 4 gospels. That is all christians can truly rely on. The "apostle" Paul was not a christian. Frankly, I'm buying into the conspiracy theory that Paul taught falls way short of what Jesus intended and he did it on purpose for a specific reason.

Taking alcohol into the veins (WBT$ illo) - can someone deconstruct this for me?
by punkofnice inok. so i've heard that the wbt$ say that having alcohol into the body intraveniously (how do you spell it?
), when the doctor says you shouldn't have alcohol is baaaadddd!
so you wouldn't have a blood transfusion because invisible sky friend jar hoover says it's baaaaaddddddd.. no doubt the illustration is beyond crazy but how is the best way to deconstruct it?.

I believe the analogy provided by the evil empire goes as follows:
YWHW prohibited the eating of blood because, symbolically, the blood represents life. Therefore, to sustain one's own life by blood, whether eating it or by a blood transfusion.
This of course is just plain stupid.
You take the life of an animal to eat its flesh. It's dead. So, you sustained your life by taking the life of an animal.
A human donates his blood, but still lives. You take his blood into your veins to sustain your life without taking his. However, that is supposed to be a violation of YHWH's law?
In addition, the analogy is poor because, as I remember, the doctor prohibits his patient from consuming alcohol for health reasons. In other words; if the patient drinks alcohol he dies and if the patient ingests alcohol by IV he still dies. The doctor's orders are not symbolic as YHWH's law is.
In addition, David and his men ate the sacriment bread offered to YHWH at the temple when they were on the lamb from King Saul, which was against YHWH's law. A capital offense. However, David was allowed to eat it as he was starving and needed to sustain his life.

Why the Watchtower Bible & Tract Society BAN against Peace Officers serving as "Elders " for Jehovah's Witnesses ?
by Balaamsass inin the early 80s the watchtower society began to forbid any police officer from serving as a ministerial servant, elder or even viewed as "exemplary".
at the time i was told it was because of firearms, possible bloodguilt, and being men of violence- "smiters".. as a young person it just didn't make sense to me.
i knew and liked a few peace officers who served as elders.

Texas Family Code Sec. 261.109. FAILURE TO REPORT; PENALTY. (a) A person commits an offense if the person has cause to believe that a child's physical or mental health or welfare has been or may be adversely affected by abuse or neglect and knowingly fails to report as provided in this chapter.
(b) An offense under this section is a Class A misdemeanor, except that the offense is a state jail felony if it is shown on the trial of the offense that the child was a person with mental retardation who resided in a state supported living center, the ICF-MR component of the Rio Grande State Center, or a facility licensed under Chapter 252, Health and Safety Code, and the actor knew that the child had suffered serious bodily injury as a result of the abuse or neglect.

In Texas it is a crime not to report child abuse of any sort. It applies to everyone.

Oh those Thor-worshippers and their hammers . . . .
by cedars inas i've said many times on this forum, the fictional character of thor is a dangerous and violent person who clearly does not know how to handle a hammer safely or responsibly.. to set the record straight, here is an instructional video on how to use a hammer safely.. i feel it's important to spread this information in order to raise awareness that hammers are intended as tools for making things, and not as weapons with which to bludgeon your foes to death.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m5ogimmz8uw.

The stars on the Republican logo are not upsidedown. The are leaning to the right. Just like the elephant is always facing to the right.

Sparlock worked his magic this weekend!
by 00DAD inyes it's true, i got to experience first hand the awesome magic powers of sparlock, the warrior wizard!tm.
this last weekend a friend of mine asked me if i could take him to the mechanic's to pick up his car after being serviced.
now this friend of mine (who is not and has never been a jw) is the the one and only friend that i've remained in constant contact with through the dark quarter century of my life when i was a witness.

According to Caleb, Sparlock does not "work his magic". Caleb tells us that Sparlock "activates" his magic.
I want to wear the t-shirt and tell Witnesses, "Sparlock, active your magic!"
