Christmas Origins VS. Watchtower's 1914
by Butterflyleia85 inok sooo this of course has nothing to do with each other but the reasoning is beneficial for critical thinkers.
christmas is one of the most popular holidays that has spread throughout the world.
what one can think is that this holiday must have its significance, yes greatly influenced but in order for something to be so influenced it has to have ground of truth and honesty behind it.

To garyneal and Others, Evidence that the anointed remnants represented by the GB were selected in 1919.
by mankkeli in1st evidence: the release of loyal jews from exile, made possible by the fall of babylon, foreshadowed the release in 1919 of anointed christians from spiritual exile.
2nd evidence: that year marked the beginning of the period when the anointed remnants were released from a form of spiritual captivity to the ideas and practices of false religion.
although having rejected such false teachings as the trinity and the immortal soul, they were still tainted by babylonish practices.

If someone is your representative you always have a say on who it is. That is not democracy. Democracy is mob rule.
I get to vote who my local elected leaders are, not what they do once they are in office. So, how did the Governing Body become the representatives of the annointed remnant? What scriptual evidence is there that there should be a Governing Body?

Please Post Reasons For Not Believing The Witnesses Have The "Truth" Anymore
by minimus ini see a few want to believe in the watchtower's view of bible prophecy, scriptural understandings and the view that the "anointed remnant" dispense the "spiritual food at the proper time".. how would you refute those views?.

It is an assumption based on an amalgam of scriptures that the "Faithful and Discreet Slave" is the annointed remnant on earth. It is assumed that since they will be kings and priests in heaven they must be the Faithful and Discreet Slave. They irony is that they do not even believe it. Terms like "Jehovah's earthly organization" and "The Faithful and Discreet Slave Class" are now just buzzwords to mean the Governing Body.
I was born and raised to be one of Jehovah's Witnesses by my parents. My mother is a born in, but my father didn't join until he was in his twenties. He immediately professed to be of the annointed and has for over 40 years.
About 20 years ago he was brought before a judicial committee because he was talking about things in the scriptures that the Watch Tower Society had not yet commented on. Mind you, these were not things that were in opposition or against the teachings of the Watch Tower Society. During the judicial committee, the 3 elders (all of the "Other Sheep Class") asked my father who he believed the Faithful and Discreet Slave is. He answered: "The annointed remnant living on the earth". He was disfellowshipped for it.
He was never told why he was disfellowshipped, though some on that judicial committee bragged that they had just disfellowshipped an apostate. He was reinstated a year later, however, he has never been allowed privileges in the congregation. At one point the District Overseer told the local body of elders that my father should not be allowed to comment at meetings. No reason was given. They never told him. I only knew because I had to conduct the bookstudy on a regular basis and the book study overseer told me not to use my father to read.
So, the bottomline is, the Governing Body is the Pope of Jehovah's Witnesses.

"Evidence that the anointed remnants represented by the GBwere selected in 1919" - Mankelli
That whole statement is a mouthful which you try to prove through coincidences in history. Basically the scam artists running the Watch Tower Bible & Tract Society simply said, "We were sent to prison and only served to years of our sentence. Therefor were are the Faithful and Discreet Slave." So, they fulfilled the alleged prophesy because they said they did. By that logic, any Christian religious leaders sent to prison for 2 years are fulfilling the prophecy.
However, the most important issue I have with you claim is highlighted: "...represented by the GB..."
At what point in time did the annointed remnant choose the Governing Body to represent them? What process was used by the annointed remnant choose who makes up the Governing Body? Where is the scriptual proof that the annointed remnant would elected a handfull of themselves to make decisions for the whole?
I was born into the religion and wasted the first 30 years of my life as a result. My father professes to be of the annointed. I do not recall a time when a member of the Governing Body died anyone ever contacting my father and asking who he was going to vote for as a replacement.
The WTB&TS loves to divisions and class warfare. There are all sorts of made up "classes". There's the "Faithful and Discreet Slave Class" which I guess now takes a back seat to the Governing Body Class.

I love seeing Romans 13:1-7 in full affect. Can violators of this law receive prison time?

Plus, it's job security for me.

Recent C.O. visit: Bad news re: U.S. English meeting attendance
by Open mind invisiting a nearby town during his thursday night service talk mentioned how poor meeting attendance is in the english-speaking u.s. congregations.
he said that when the gb reduced the weekly meetings from 3 to 2, there was a brief surge in meeting attendance percentages.
after a few months it began to slide and it hasn't stopped sliding.

Some of the changes seen in the past 5 years shocked me. I think the reduction in the meetings was the biggest one. One I was first told there was a change in the meeting schedule I thought, "They are adding another meeting" only to find out it was just the opposite.
The reason for my thinking this was a special needs talk once giving on meeting attendance. The Presiding Overseer/Congregation Coordinator beat on Hebrews 10:24, 25 like a drum. We were supposed to meet even more as we behold the day drawing near.
So, we're being told the end is almost here and yet, in direct conflict with the Bible, Jehovah's Witnesses are meeting less.

My first conversation with an "anointed"
by Terry ini was not "born in".. i was recruited.. i've told the story dozens of times.. it began as a "best friend" at school comraderie and ended with my baptism 4 or 5 years later.. i had no desire up front to join any church or attend any services or even to associate myself with people who talk about "god" and "faith".. it creeped me out.. my family was not sociable.
they were like hermits.. my grandmother had been reared catholic and had attended convent school.
she told horror stories about the stern, disciplinarian mother superior and corporal punishments by the nuns.. i had the bible read to me barely at all.

My father professes to be of the annointed. I've heard people comment that when my father reads from the Bible it is as if he wrote it himself. He is a truly loving man who sees the faults of the organization, mostly that it does not display the mind of Christ.
He's probably the #1 reason why it took me nearly 3 decades to finally cut all ties with the evil empire.

the cult is slowly taking my family apart
by Evidently Apostate inits been 3 years since i made my decision to fade and i am starting to think our marriage might not survive.
my wife is under pressure from her parents to push away from me.
the anniversay card they gave her(not me) was nothing more than jw propaganda, parts were actually highlighted.

Tell your wife:
1) You love her
2) You will support her
Explain that supporting her means that you will not interfere with her wishes to be a practicing Jehovah's Witness. In fact, you'll do just the opposite. If she needs assistance getting to the meetings, out in field service, Circuit Assemblies or Conventions you will provide it. Let her know that you will never belittle her or her beliefs.
The evil empire quotes scripture in telling Witnesses who have "unbelieving" mates to stick with their spouse so that they might be "won over" through their conduct. With that, remember this; almost everything in life is like an algebraic expression. Whatever is done to one side of the equal sign must be done to the other side. In other word, you might be able to win her over with out a word.

A reality test for Jehovah's Witnesses that really seems to work

The same is true when it comes to the statistics showing that reported violent crimes have been going do each year in the U.S. I once had a book, I forget the title, I think it was called "Everything You Know is Wrong". It showed statistics and studies that proved that things are pretty much as they have always been.
I like the new AMC show "Hell on Wheels". One character says, "What is this world coming to?" in reference to a massacre. The main character replies, "It's not coming to anything. The world is as it has always been."
Jehovah's Witnesses whole world revolves around the idea that this system of things is coming to an end and soon. That the composite "sign" of the last days given to us by Jesus is all around us. When something bad is reported on the news they say, "See. This is part of the sign of the end" and when the news says that things are getting better it is dismissed as insanity.
