So, if I read this correctly, the WTB&TS is no longer using it's resources to preach the "good news to all the nations". Rather, it is turning Gilead into a school to produce more commissars. That's all Circuit Overseers are; politcal officers who make sure the rank & file are following the wishes of the Governing Body.

My father made a comment about 6 months ago. He said something like, "There isn't much time to come back. We may shortly see a time where the doors will be closed to Jehovah's earthly organization." That's what caused me to start looking into this website.
I thought that maybe this past year's District Convestion may have promoted the above idea. Turns out that there wasn't a single new thought at the DC. In fact, I remember getting the tract dealing with Daniel's vision of the statue for the DC. It sounds like that whole thing was a huge marketting gimmick.
Since the 19th century the Watch Tower Society has been saying, "The end is so close." Yes, over a period of 3 centuries that warning has been given. 3 centuries!

This sort of thing happens all the time. A valid suit is filed, but it is filed in a court of a higher jurisdiction than required. I guarentee it will be filed in a California Superior Court if it has not already.
I read up on this case and noticed that one of the persons named as Plaintiff is Walter St. Clair. I wonder if he is related to Wendel(sp?) St. Clair the Circuit Overseer who terrorized northern California for years back in the 90's.

Do you recall any disputes during the development of the New Song Book?
by Quarterback ini seem to recall someone mentioning to me that george benson assisted with some of the work on the new song book.. then he left the assignment after an argument with the team.
is there any thing that anyone remembers about that one?.

My first and only experience with the new songbook was at the 2010 memorial. I had no clue a new songbook had been released. The opening song of the memorial used to be my favorite song. The new version was horrible.
I get the feeling that the songs were written so that they could be sung faster by having shorter songs. I believe this all has to deal with the cramming of multiple meetings into one night.

Watchtower Theology is based on inauthentic foundation: proof texts
by Terry inwatchtower theology is propped up by proof texts.. if the texts are inspired, the watchtower claims it is empowered to reveal the meaning.. but--consider how flimsy, inauthentic and unprovable the foundation of this teaching really is.. .
consider the difference (if any) in meaning between these two renderings.. .
1.all scripture is inspired by god and useful for teaching, reproving and setting things straight.. .

"All Scripture IS inspired by God and useful for teaching, reproving and setting things straight."
We must remember that the above scripture was written before the Bible was put together. How many books were written that were not put into the canonical Bible? Are those books inspired and beneficial? What about the Apocryphal books?
It was the Catholic church decided which books would be put into the Bible and those that would be excluded. So, was the Catholic church the Faithful and Discreet Slave and was it providing spiritual food at the proper time by doing that?
Jehovah's Witnesses also defend the Bible by saying that it is not a book of science, but that it speaks of things scientifically correct before they were accepted by mankind. This is hypocritical.
Consider the book of Genesis and the account of the global flood. A global flood is physically impossible. In order for there to be enough water on the earth to cover it's surface, the mass of the earth would change and therefor change the earth's orbit.

The last congregation I was in, I was one of 7 brothers employed by either the city, county, or state. We were all either ministerial servants or elders. How hypocritical to say it is ok to be the second in command of a government office which employees hundreds or thousands of people, but it is wrong to be elected to the office of local dog catcher.
I applaud you for you efforts in seeking public office. I am currently help 3 candidates with their campaigns. I have enjoyed working with my local elected officials to make my community a better place to live.

Irony, thy name is Watchtower
by finally awake in(ecclesiastes 12:12) .
.as regards anything besides these, my son, take a warning: to the making of many books there is no end, and much devotion [to them] is wearisome to the flesh.. .
i never could keep up with all the reading - lol.

Was it not under Rutherford that the Watch Tower Society published that one could not learn the truth of the Bible with out the Watch Tower publications and that reading one publication from them was like years of Bible study? Why could no one see the wool being pulled over their eyes?

Did your spirituality improve after confessing to wrongdoing?
by jwfacts ini was reading this thread, http://www.jehovahs-witness.net/members/private/220730/1/had-my-jc-today-oh-sugar, and morbidzbaby mentioned their husband confessed to uncleaness because he did not feel he was getting blessed by jehovah.
however, blessings did not increase after the confession.. it made me wonder about the whole idea of confessing so that you do not loose jehovah's blessing.
when i was in bethel i confessed about a couple of menial things.

No.
In fact, it started me down the road to being completely inactive.
As a 30+ born-in witness, myself and my wife confessed to the elders. It wasn't sex, but it was related. It took place between our engagement and our actual wedding. Long story short; I was privately reproved for something it would be impossible for me to do again. I would have to be single again to do it.
The elders on my judicial committee said it was to punish me. The explained I had to be punished. This confused me.
Punishment is part of discipline and discipline is a form of correcting. Punishment is usually used for repeat offenders while counselling on a first time offense may be all the discipline a person needs.
Like I said, it would be impossible for me to commit the "sin" I committed, again. So, why was there a need for punishment. If I was unrepentant I would be disfellowshipped.
I found out later that the elders on my judicial committee were relatively new and none of them were born-in Witnesses. I also found out that they had no clue what they were doing because I had all my privileges restored and they said they would not mention it to the body elders of my home congregation when I moved back. I found out that they were not allowed to do that.
I knew then that the whole thing was BS.

I don't believe the Bible is Inspired of god - Why do you / don't you?
by cantleave inmany of you may know that i was brought up a witness and stayed in until the age of 42, even reaching the dizzy heights of being a congregation elder.
i was unusual in that, even as a witness i studied to degree level, on a part time basis, sponsored by my employer.
my first was in chemistry and my masters is in business administration.

When you look at the history of how the book we know as The Bible came to be it raises some serious red flags. All of these "small books" were written by many different authors over a period of time. Then, centuries after all of these books and letters were written, a council of men sat down and came up with the cannon. So, some books were put into the Bible and other were purposely left out.
Were any of the books left out allegedly inspired?
Were any of the books put in not inspired?
Who knows?
Who cares?
