Another fairytale, as told by Moses, in the book of Genesis. Humans have the power to destroy the planet, literally, and Jehovah was afraid because they built a multi-story structure from mud bricks.

The Tower of Babel - Languages: Isn't this story unhinged?
by james_woods inbesides the obvious fact that it is historically ridiculous - can anybody make any sense out of this story?.
god was somehow afraid that man was developing too much technology?
just because they were building a tower?.

I forgot my all time favorite: the belief that the intentional killing of another human is always murder and makes one bloodguilty. Even if you are justified in protecting yourself or another.

Any "Class" mentioned by the Watchtower publications. The most notorious being the "Faithful and Discreet Slave Class" based on Matthew 24:42-46.
The term "Governing Body" as well as the concept of the Governing Body is not mentioned or supported by scripture.
Anything to do with the year 1914 is pure cult lunacy.
Jesus being impaled on an upright pole vs a cross is based on intentionally taking one Bible scholars writing out of context.

No answer to this one!
by truthseeker1969 inas many of you know my brother an elder was called on to sit in a "judicial committee" re-instatement.. the brother has in the past done all he can to prove he is repentant but this time the co was here and apparently had a few things to say to the cobe when they were discussing the process.
the co asked why the poor guy had four re-instatement hearings and why the co had received a letter from him detailing that he "did not think he could do anymore".. anyway, long story short, the co sat in the hearing and hey presto the brother was re-instated.
my brother and the co spoke with the brother and the co said that he had done well and was sorry that the process has taken so long and shook his hand.. now he mentioned the latest letter about confidentiality and said that the society is being hit left right and center with civil lawsuits and are scared as the have no way of defending them.

Just because you are a "unpaid volunteer" for an organization does not mean the organization is free from all civil liability. Remember, Jehovah's Witnesses active in the ministry are dubbed "Publishers" and document their work on a monthly basis. As such the liability goes both ways.
In my line of work we get a lot of citizens who volunteer for us. We screen applicants for volunteer positions because our agency is liable for what they do when working for us. Likewise, if one of our volunteers is hurt while working for us they are covered by Worker's Compensation.
I see such lawsuits being successful. This may very well be the final nail in the coffin on the Watch Tower Society. It creates a near paradoxial legal dilemma for them. A person cannot be one of Jehovah's Witness without actively preaching and peddling the publications of the Watch Tower, Bible & Tract Society. Yet, anyone who is injured while doing so is an agent of the WTB&TS and therefor must be compensated for medical expenses, lost wages, etc.

The cover of a 1984 WatchTower is, "apostate material"!
by moshe ini asked a jw in an email to do a google image search of these words-.
"1914 , the generation that will not pass away"- and guess what?.
they emailed me back a couple days later and accused me of sharing apostate material!

If I may be so bold to say; I believe this is probably the best example of adding insult to injury to the Watch Tower Society and I love every bit of it.
I remember this magazine. I remember going out in the ministry and attempting to place this magazine. For some reason I have a lot of vivid memories of 1984. It's pretty weird because I was only 10 at the time.
One must remember, if the Watch Tower Society was a public roadway it would only have 2 street signs: One Way and No Turn. The Watch Tower Society does not publish false or inaccurate prophecies, according to them, but rather it is Truth tm at that time. Now there is "new understanding" and NuLite tm that shows an "overlapping generation" that will not pass before the end comes.
Wow! What a truly great racket. The Watch Tower is never wrong thanks to semantics.
Me: "What color is the sky, Watch Tower Society?"
WTB&TS: "It's red."
Me: "Red? It's blue. It's always been blue."
WTB&TS: "Oh, you mean now. Yes. The sky is blue."
Me: "You just said it was red."
WTB&TS: "It was red at the time."
Me: "No it wasn't. It has always been blue."
WTB&TS: "Well, who are the only people involved in a world wide preaching work as foretold in Matthew?"
Me: "Why am I wasting oxygen?"

People leave the Org but don't drop the doctrine?
by Momma-Tossed-Me inthis deserved its own thread.
one thing i have observed being able to speak freely to individuals now about the wtbts is that even though they fade, they hold one to all or a portion of the doctrine.. if you examine the doctrine openly and fully you will see it has as many holes in it as the org does.
although it may appeal to you it doesn't make it sound scripturally.

I fit into this category at first. I was totally inactive and believed the doctrine, but not the organization. However, after coming to this website and studying on my own I became completely free from the Watch Tower after 30+ years of slavery.

If someone in the congregation has committed a crime, even sexual assault of a child, do not call the police. Call the Watch Tower Legal Department. If someone in the congregation is suicidal, do not call for police and fire services. Call the Watch Tower Legal Department.
However, if someone disrupts a meeting, call the police and have that man arrested!
