HELP NEEDED for the book I'm writing!
by Terry ini'm about 90% finished on a book i started nine years ago.
it will deal with jehovah's witness policy on conscientious objectors during war time.
from the 1800's through the end of the draft in the early 1970's.. i am also giving a personal biographical account of my own introduction to the religion, process of assimilation and ministry experience.. additionally, i'm working in timelines connecting the 2nd adventist teachings with russell, rutherford and mainstream watchtower doctrines.. .

I think under the political/social climate of the united states, the best thing to do is stick with your main topic. Since 9/11 there has be a resurgence in support for the United States military. The anti-military message of Jehovah's Witnesses is not well know by the public.
In addition, I remember back in the mid-1990's when the Watchtower Society changed its stance and said the accepting alternative service to compelled military service was alright. Think of all the young brothers like yourself who needlessly spent time in prison due to the flip-flopping philosphies of the WB&TS. It sickens to me.
The big regret in my life is that I did not serve in the military was I was younger. I wasted my youth pioneering and postponed my college education as well as my law enforcement career.

Why does an Omni... God need Jesus and the 144,000 co-rulers?
by jwfacts inat the thread about jaracz steve2 made the following interesting comment.
by now, ted should be finding his heavenly posting a routinized bore: 4 years and still counting.
he will have chaffed at the notion that all decisions are made by jehovah god who consults no one and who brooks no questioning or independent thinking.

I believe the answer to your question goes a little something like this:
When Adam & Eve sinned and became "imperfect" Jehovah washed his hands of creation. He refuses to get involved until it has been restored to perfection. So he has handed everything off to his son to repair thing as he is above dealing with imperfection.
The 144,000 are Jehovah's way of giving Satan the finger. Satan wanted to be worshipped by creation. Now, 144,000 humans will be raised above the level of Satan and be used to destroy him.

We had one who was disfellowshipped for his felony. He actually surrended to the police asking to serve his time in the prison that was in our terrirtory because of the arrangement. He was reinstated and pioneered while in the pen.
Most the inmates who attended the meetings were raised as Witnesses, got into drugs, and went to prison for their illegal activities.
I also lost track of the number of people I booked into the county and, while inventorying their personal property, came across their "blood card".

Another non-JW reacts to Sparlock video
by cedars inhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u-ssv2nh0rc.
and two weeks ago i highlighted another video where sparlock helped an ex-mormon.. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gmesmlhydru.
though it still depresses me to think of all the young ones (including my own relatives) falling under the influence of this dangerous piece of propaganda, it's at least some small comfort that the sparlock video is backfiring so dramatically among thinking non-jws.. .

Elders Ordered to Give Evidence in Sex Scandal Trial
by jw07 inhttp://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2365992/gordon-leighton-child-abuse-trial-orders-jehovahs-witness-leaders-evidence.html.
church elders refused to comment on a child abuse scandal because they had a 'duty to god' to keep the sex attacker's confession a secret, a court heard.. jehovah witness ministerial servant gordon leighton admitted sexually abusing a child when he was confronted with allegations before elders at his church, newcastle crown court heard.. but during the official police investigation the 53-year-old, who hit the headlines in the 1990s when his wife yvonne, 28, died after refusing a blood transfusion after childbirth on religious grounds, denied any illegal wrongdoing.. when detectives asked elders simon preyser, harry logan and david scott to make statements about the confession, all three refused and said what they had heard was confidential.. the elders knew about the admissions for three years, but refused to cooperate with the criminal investigation, the court heard.. .
the trio kept that stance when the case was brought before newcastle crown court.

When I got my first cop job one of our detectives was investigating a child abuse case involving a Witness in the congregation in our city. One of the elders on his committee used to be in my congregation and was subpoena dodging. I served him myself. I just wished I had waited to do it at a meeting.

I spent well over a decade in a congregation that had 2 prisons in it's "territory". The congregation's number of publishers included about 2 dozen prisoners. Our entire service committee went out to the prison twice a week to conduct the book study and watchtower study.
I remember that these elders could never stop talking about their experiences in the prison. It made me really sick. The worst part was that I felt the non-prisoner members of the congregation, the overwhelming majority, suffered because of it.
My bookstudy overseer would come out on Saturdays to conduct our meeting for field service and then leave me to handle everything because he had to go conduct the watchtower study at the prison. That was always inspiring. "Sorry, folks. I'd rather hangout with murderers and baby rapers than you."
Now, here's the best part: The vast majority of these prisoners were all Jehovah's Witnesses BEFORE going to prison.

I took the time to read everyone's comments. I by no means wish to offend anyone here by posting my own, but here it is and I'll start with my background.
1) I hold a degree in Criminal Justice
2) 15+ year law enforcement veteran
3) Employed by a District Attorney
I see 2 distinct sides in this debate. One side concentrates on the death of a 14 year old, unarmed boy by an armed man who was told to stay in his car. If Zimmerman just stayed in his car this may have never happened and we would just be enjoying our morning coffee. It's the police's job to handle these matters. The other side concentrates on the laws of the state of Florida and the facts of the case as presented by the police/attorney's office. That side points out that Zimmerman broke no laws, he had the right to be where he was, a right to be armed, a police dispatcher has no authority to tell anyone to do anything, and Zimmerman just defended himself from serious bodily injury or death.
What is the purpose of a criminal trial? Present evidence to a jury in regards to criminal allegations brought against a person by the government. The jury is to follow the law and render a judgement based on facts proven beyond a reasonable doubt. The judgement is either rendered Guilty or Not Guilty. If Guilty, the defendant is punished according to the law. If Not Guilty, they go free.
Zimmerman did murder Martin, but the law provides a defense to prosecution in that he claimed self defense. The jury believed it was self defense based on the law and the facts of the case. Therefor the jury followed the law and render a verdict of Not Guilty.
The United States of America is a republic and not a democracy. It was founded on the principle of individual freedom and liberty. Liberty and freedom from what? An oppressive government. A republic is a form of government based on law and not mob rule. Democracy is 2 wolves and a lamb voting on what to have for dinner.
It is my opinion that those who feel George Zimmerman is guilty base that opinion on their own moral philosphy. However, a juror swears an oath to follow the law. In this case the jury did just that.
I think it was best said recently by an east coast man in his city council chambers, "Your dead do not trump my rights."
