I have the NIV and the Douay-Rheims translations. I would like a Jerusalem Bible. Not to be confused with the New Jerusalem Bible.

I find it interesting that the Seventh Day Adventists and JWs are both offshoots of the Millerite Movement of the 1840s. CT Russell was a follower of William Miller and borrowed Miller's Adventist teachings. Research the "Big Disappointment" in regards to the Millerites and see if it sounds familiar.
The fastest growing religion on Earth is Islam while Christianity is in steady decline. The fastest growing religion in the U.S. is "no religion". So, in the U.S. the No-God seems to have more sway than any other god.

JW Obession with the trinity
by Riley inso a few years i watched a lecture series by a man named dr. micheal heiser called the two powers in heaven, jesus in the old testament.
funny thing was it wasn't even very evangelical in nature, so i turned off my religious binders and just watched it like a regular person.
it turns out that the new testament is a hinge point in the bible.

BUT! She believed in the trinity! How horrible! According to JWs logic, had Armageddon happened during her lifetime, God would have sent an angel, or perhaps a resurrected governing body member, to kill her.

Jhine:
I agree with you. There is a difference in what Jesus was teaching and where we have ended up now. If my paint brush was too wide I do apologize.
The teaching of Jesus are compassionate and wise. I am not a follower of Martin Luther's Five Solas. Jhine, if memory serves, you are part of the Anglican Church. I see the appeal as I do to Catholicism and Eastern Orthodoxy.

John 1:1 should be translated us thus -
John L. McKenzie (Catholic Biblical scholar) wrote that ho Theos is God the Father, and adds that John 1:1 should be translated "the word was with the God [=the Father], and the word was a divine being."[41][42] McKenzie, John L. (1965). Dictionary of the Bible. Milwaukee, WI: Bruce. John L. Mckenzie (1995). The Dictionary Of The Bible (reprinted ed.). Touchstone, New York: Simon and Schuster. p. 317. ISBN 9780684819136.
Any translation that reads "the Word was God" is theologically biased.
Historically, the unified Christian church did not believe in either the trinity of the divinity of Jesus until the council of Nicaea in 325CE. Prior to that there were some sects that did and some that did not.

- Make the Watchtower stand out amongst all other Christian sects.
Think of all the illogical conclusion drawing used by the Watchtower to cast shade on all sorts of things to make JWs stand out as "no part of this world."
Yes, the doctrine of the trinity was not adopted by Christianity officially until the 4th century CE. Just as Jesus divinity was not adopted until that same time. So, historically speaking, neither the trinity nor the divinity of Jesus were original Christian doctrine.
Western culture has an obsession with authority and order. I have found certain Christians or whole Christian sects have this obsession with "What did the first century Christian's believe?" as if by only replicating the original congregation's practices one can find salvation.
It is better for human society when people do good and avoid doing bad, whether they believe in God or not, than if they have the correct metaphysical (or theological) ideas about God but do bad instead of doing good.
DillusionedJW: You are spot on. The Law of Cause and Effect proves this. However, you have to keep in mind that in Christianity there is only one true, unforgivable sin - disbelief. Anything else a person does that causes harm to the self, others, or both gets an automatic pass if you just believe. It sounds a lot like declassifying government documents by just thinking about it. This is also why people tend to concentrate on the consequences of actions and not their actions themselves.

First Amendment
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances. The government is not to make any law prohibiting the exercise of free speech. The law in question would be the same as saying whenever someone wants to say something of a political nature inside your private place of business you have to let them inside to give their $0.02.

Example:
Texas passed a law stating that social media platforms cannot "ban" users for posting content of a political nature.
https://www.texastribune.org/2022/09/16/texas-social-media-law/
What this means is a private entity is being told they must allow users to post whatever they want if it is a political view. So, this means social media would have to allow users to post false information (e.g. "The Big Lie"). The U.S. Constitution is being applied to a private party when it is only applicable to government.

Lost in the Fog:
Here is my personal experience -
I have been studying religion, Christianity and others, from a historical point of view since I left the Watchtower in 2010. Here is what I can tell you in brief:
The Jewish religion is a mythological fairytale like any theistic religion (for examples of non-theistic religions see Buddhism and Daoism).
All events in prior to the two kingdoms of Israel are manufactured stories.
- The Israelites are a Canaanite tribe that worshipped El of the Ba'al pantheon of gods. El evolved into YHWH during the period of Persian (Babylonian rule).
- Egyptian, Persian, and Greek religion all influenced the Jewish religion. The evolving belief in the afterlife and whether or not there are other spirit beings from God is evidence of this.
- There is no proof of a Biblical Jesus outside the Bible.
- There is no proof of a Jesus being resurrected outside the Bible.
In short, Judaism is the professed foundation of Christianity. YHWH is as about as real as Osiris, Ahura Mazda, or Zeus. Therefor the Armageddon of Revelation is as about real as Zeus fighting the Titans.
