the destruction of jerusalem is insignificant in the large scheme of things.

Paul and John both believed that Jesus return would be in their lifetime. Paul's writings in regards to avoiding marriage if possible is proof of this. John's writings in the book of Revelations also suggests his belief that Jesus would return before John's death.

sadly today, many churches and religious organisations teach their followers that they are saved based on something the bible does not record.

many people are following a lie, and are heading to a lost eternity and do not know it.. my question here is... are you saved?

That brings up another point - are sins actually wrongdoings, harmful works, or evil, or are they just things God doesn't want us to do?

Is the pious loved by the gods because it is pious?
Or is it pious because it is loved by the gods?

It is right because God commands it.

Either God is just an agent passing on what is right and wrong or morality is ultimately not based on reason and arbitrarily dependent on God’s will. if we cannot measure God by moral standards, then it is really tough for us to describe God as good or wise. God doesn’t really act on good reasons, but rather on his arbitrary will. Saying that God is morally good is a meaningless statement, for whatever he does is good anyway. How can we distinguish the all-powerful God from an all-powerful demon?

There is no reconciling James and Paul. It is an exercise in cognitive dissonance. Paul was a self-appointed, misguided fraud.

To sin is to violate God's law.
It is God's law and God made the law.
God makes the penalties for violating the law.
God carries out the execution of the penalties.
Salvation is protection from the penalties.
Salvation comes from God.
All you have to do accept God as your savior to gain salvation.

Officer: Sir, do you know why I pulled you over?

Driver: Probably because I was speeding, Officer?

Officer: Yes. The legislature and governor passed a law that prohibits operating a motor vehicle over the speed limit. The penalty is a fine not to exceed $500.00.

Driver: What a kind an loving legislature and governor. I accept them both as my savior.

Officer: Oh! You accept the legislature and governor as your savior? Well, in that case, you are free to go about your business. Paying the fine wouldn't have cover your violation of the law, anyways.

Saved is past tense. If a person is inside a house engulfed in flames that person is not "saved" until someone else comes inside the house to retrieve him. Once the person inside the house is carried outside the house that person is "saved" from a fiery death.

My understanding of the Christian doctrine of salvation is that it refers to whether or not a person's "immortal soul" goes to heaven or hell after the body dies. So, salvation technically occurs after death. Anyone answering this question on this forum is unable to claim they have salvation as I am unaware of heaven having internet access.

"What are you being saved from?" It is not a "what" as in the illustration of the burning house, but a "whom". Who are you saved from? The answer is simple - Jesus.

Are you saved from Jesus' wrath?

Here is why Martin Luther wanted the book of James removed from the Bible -

14 What good is it, my brothers and sisters, if someone claims to have faith but has no deeds? Can such faith save them? 15 Suppose a brother or a sister is without clothes and daily food. 16 If one of you says to them, “Go in peace; keep warm and well fed,” but does nothing about their physical needs, what good is it? 17 In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead. 18 But someone will say, “You have faith; I have deeds.” Show me your faith without deeds, and I will show you my faith by my deeds. 19 You believe that there is one God. Martin Luther taught the 5 Solas - Christians are saved by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone, as revealed by Scripture alone, to the glory of God alone.

James clearly says otherwise.

Closer than 70 CE?

Close is a vague and meaningless term without some sort of anchor point.

FFGhost came up with a great experiment to see just how close JWs think the end is. Here is another -

"Tell me how much longer 'close' is. If there is any indication you are right I will return to your religion. However, if it goes past that time you have to quit." Just see how many JWs are willing to play along.

Who is GOD Favouring in this Time of the End ?

jehovah`s witnesses , seventh day adventists , church of jesus christ of the latter day saints.. these 3 are probably the more influenthal in the last 200 or so years ago.. if membership is a sign of god`s blessing on who he favours then @ the year 2021.. jehovah`s witnesses membership 8.5 million.

I find it interesting that the Seventh Day Adventists and JWs are both offshoots of the Millerite Movement of the 1840s. CT Russell was a follower of William Miller and borrowed Miller's Adventist teachings. Research the "Big Disappointment" in regards to the Millerites and see if it sounds familiar.

The fastest growing religion on Earth is Islam while Christianity is in steady decline. The fastest growing religion in the U.S. is "no religion". So, in the U.S. the No-God seems to have more sway than any other god.

JW Obession with the trinity

so a few years i watched a lecture series by a man named dr. micheal heiser called the two powers in heaven, jesus in the old testament.

funny thing was it wasn't even very evangelical in nature, so i turned off my religious binders and just watched it like a regular person.

it turns out that the new testament is a hinge point in the bible.

BUT! She believed in the trinity! How horrible! According to JWs logic, had Armageddon happened during her lifetime, God would have sent an angel, or perhaps a resurrected governing body member, to kill her.
