I'm with you, I think it should be legalized. You don't get a hangover with pot, at least I never did.

Brooklyn, are you listening?
by OrangeBlossom ini wonder if the gb ever check this board to get a grasp of how the rank & file (the hanger-oners like me) really feel about things or even curious as to why so many have left the organization.
there are many elders and ministerial servants that post here because they are so frustrated with what is going on.
i think that they would really like to see a change, a reform of some sort.

I wonder if the GB ever check this board to get a grasp of how the rank & file (the hanger-oners like me) really feel about things or even curious as to why so many have left the organization. There are many elders and ministerial servants that post here because they are so frustrated with what is going on. I think that they would really like to see a change, a reform of some sort. One of the things I always enjoyed about being a JW was the fact that no matter where you went in the world, if you discovered that someone else was a JW there was an instant bond. Even now, all of us that post here feel a bond with one another because we are or were or almost became a JW. It was always IMHO an exclusive club that we belonged to. At least that is how I felt growing up. That closeness you felt to another JW is slowing slipping away. The past few years I have felt that maybe I somehow became invisible when I walked into the Kingdom Hall because not one person would acknowledge my presence. So missing meetings became easier and easier because I felt like nobody would know or care if I was even there.
Anyway, it just seems to me that maybe the head honchos at Brooklyn might drop into this message board from time to time and perhaps get a grasp of what's really going on within the organization. If they did, maybe the Kingdom Halls would be filling to the brim instead of thinning out.
On the off chance that they might read this post, here are a few of my suggestions that might help things out.
1. Drop the disfellowshipping thing. It's cruel and unusual punishment, plus it only works on a small percentage.
2. Drop some of the meetings, they are extremely boring and redundant.
3. Lighten up on the brothers, the meetings are suppose to build one's faith, not make them feel like they will never measure up.
4. Drop counting time as it is totally inaccurate. Driving around for 3 hours looking for someone to talk to is not witnessing, it is driving around for 3 hours.
5. Spend more time sharing the real good news about Christ.
This is just a preview of what is running through my brain. There are many more things that I could list but these were the big ones for me.

Hi Beroea,
Nice to see you posting again. I always enjoyed your posts on the old H20. I hope you like it here, I have found it to be quite pleasurable. I really enjoy the Live Chat, hope to talk with you in there sometime, if the time change isn't too much of a difference.
I have a question, are you still an elder? You might have mentioned it earlier, but I will ask anyway.
Look forward to reading more from you.

Did you/Do you actually LIKE Field Service?
by LovesDubs ingod i hated it..every living breathing minute of it.
it was pure hell for me, and based on the pace i see the jws all over the world moving, they aint so fond of it neither.
the persecution that the jws feel they get is from irritated householders who know nothing about their religion except that they hit people over the head with it and then judge them because they dont like being hit over the head with it.

I can't remember, not one time, in my 40 years of going in field service (I was dragged from birth) did I EVER enjoy going out in service. Saturday morning was pure hell being dragged out of bed to go out. So put me down as a NO!!!

Door To Door? Not At Heathrow!
by Englishman inall this talk about whether door to door work is fruitful or not has really got me thinking.. so i was wondering, (a) how many jw's or ex's here were actually converted on the door, and (b) how many jw's or ex's here ever obtained a convert on the door?.
i made 2 converts whilst a jw, but 1 was the son of an interested person, the other was a wayward son of a weak sister so i get a zero.. my dad worked at london heathrow as an air traffic controller, he got 6 other controllers to join up, so if you're arriving in the uk, don't fly apostasy airways!
for all his frequent bouts of vac pioneering, i don't think that he ever pulled a live one off the doors, so he gets a zero too.. my mum was quite a puller in her time but they were all friends of friends who came to sit in on bible studies etc, so, sorry mater, you get a zero also.. as a matter of fact, i'm wondering if the door to door work isn't completely pointless!.

I was born into it. My father was contacted at his place of business, the person then came and talked with my parents.
I never converted anybody.

I can't believe how many new ones are posting on the board today. It really is a pleasure to have all of you. No one can understand the importance of having an outlet like this. I think about all of the ones who years ago walked away from the org with no support system. They truly are the pioneers. Anyway, I just wanted to say welcome to all the new ones. I hope you get as much as of this message board as I have. I haven't been here too long myself but I'm grateful to have a place to come.

I'm a newbie too
by Flowerpetal ini just registered just today.
i am not a dissenter from jws--still an active member but i have an open mind and willing to listen to all who post here.
there have been some questions bugging me lately that have caused me to wonder about certain scriptures pertaining to being "born again.

Welcome. I myself am an inactive JW, I still go to some meetings but I haven't been in field service for a couple of years. I too started getting bugged about certain things. Ironically, it was during the study of "The Greatest Man" book that I started questioning things. Like...if Jehovah disowned the Israelites because of the way they treated his flock with all of the heavy burdens they put on them, could he ever disown his so-called chosen people on earth today. That was just one of many things that bugged me. Once you start to doubt one thing, it's like a domino effect. The more you learn the more frustrated you become. You may come away from here with more determination than ever that JW's have the truth, or you may discover, as many here, that not everything you've been taught has been exactly true. Either way, you are in for a rocky road. Your whole belief system is about to be questioned. I hope that you will ponder on all things that you read here. You owe it to yourself. I wish you the best in your journey. Try not to get overwhelmed.

JW evaluations?
by heff ini am new to this site.
i just want to say that its great, always nice to know that you're not alone in the fight.
i wish all current jws could be forced to sit and read through all these posts just once.....but thats dreaming, i guess.. it seems that from the psychological aspect the experience can be horrible.

I've heard it was going to be early summer, but I could be wrong. Just keep checking this board periodically, I'm sure Silentlambs will inform us.
