What about....."the religion formally known as Jehovah's Witnesses." They just need to find a suitable symbol like Prince.

If the org. Is being advised by consultants, is a name change in the works?
by nowwhat? inlet's be honest, there's a stigma to the name jehovah's witness.
if they are going more mainstream.
i imagine the first recommendation was a name change.

I saw a tattoo once that epitomizes my thoughts. “If there is a god, he will have to beg for my forgiveness.”

Sure, there are some JW’s that are very well off. Usually, they are very tight with their money and not generous in helping with expenses. That may be why they have more money. They tend to sponge off of others. In addition, I found that a lot JWs live above their means even though they preach “modesty in all things.” They drive expensive new luxury cars through a lease. They have no money for a sizable down payment and the ability to finance the car at 6- 8 hundred US dollars a month. They can lower their lease payment by lowering their yearly mileage. Your “friends” may be in either one of these categories. I knew one of the “friends” that definitely had to have this new 4 door luxury sports car, for service. He didn’t have a pot to urinate into. However, his down payment came from 3 maxed out credit cards! He was notorious for being really cheap. After the assembly, they would get a group to meet at a restaurant. It would always be a restaurant that he had coupons just for his family. The group would have to eat at his choice of restaurant so he could get a free appetizer or free drinks or a 2 for 1 entree. We use to try and guess which coupons they clipped from the newspaper flyer. He borrowed some tools and lawn equipment from me, but always had a reason not to bring them back.

Money Spinners
by Lost in the fog ini can remember when i was in that there were numerous articles and assembly talks about not using the congregation as a means of making money from a captive audience of brothers and sisters.. i was looking at the etsy website and stumbled upon a jw themed product.. i wondered if there were any more and discovered that there were lots.
mind you maybe it's people who have left who see an opportunity for making money from gullible jws.. https://www.etsy.com/uk/search?q=jehovah%27s%20witness%20letter%20writing&ref=auto-1.

The other night, my wife and I were driving through a upscale suburb with old, large, beautiful homes. There is one house that my never JW she really likes. As we drove by the house, I turned to her and said, "that's your Armageddon house." She looked pretty puzzled so I explained the phrase. While in the door to door work, JWs would stake claims on homes that they would have after Armaggedon and all the worldly people were killed off. She couldn't believe it and thought it was really sick and demented. Anyone else experience this in the ministry?

I had one elder that pronounced hyperbole as "hyper bowl" as he was reading directly from the public talk script.

The "Regular Pioneer" title has now become a total joke
by pistolpete inwe just had our co visit a few weeks ago.
apparently, he was encouraging all who could to regular pioneer, to at least try it out for a year.
because of this, we had a few people in our hall become one.. so this weekend we were on zoom service, and the sister that was just appointed was talking about it.

Do you remember the parable of the workers in the vineyard? Matthew Chapter 20? This is really simple for the GB to spin. They will have a Wt study on the story of the master that hires workmen for his vineyard. He hires workmen at the start of the day and agrees to pay him a day's wages. He hires more later in the day and agrees to pay him a day's wages. Even later in the day, he hires more workers and agrees to the same wages for a day. Then, he hires workers at the end of the day and agrees to pay him the same. All the other workers are upset that they worked through the heat of the day for the same pay as the ones that worked less. The master says that I paid you for what you agreed to....so STFU (shut the fuck up).

My 20 year anniversary
by new boy inafter being a jehovah's witness for 52 years, today marks my 20 year anniversary of being out of the borg!
i turned in my letter of disassociation on september 18th 2001. it was read to the congregation on september 19th, my wife's birthday.
of course the years have had its difficulties but it has also had many wonderful experiences and epiphanies.

Congrats! I enjoyed reading your book. Great job. You really must have known that it was just a cult and a big scam. You disassociated while everybody, including myself, were hunkered down and expecting the Big A to hit soon after 9-11. They were counting on this being the start of the "Great Tribulation!" You walked out and never looked back while the world was in turmoil. Many inactive and interested ones started flocking back at the Kingdom Hall and the dubs were cheerfully waiting for hail stones to pummel everyone that wasn't a JW.

What Do You Know of JWs Getting Away With Stuff?
by minimus ini realized that teenagers and young witness adults were getting away with murder per my daughter.
she told me that all these exemplary young people featured at assemblies and conventions were not real good examples.
after she got married years ago to a “ worldly “ man, she told me about all the kids who were fornicating and getting drunk and high, including elder’s kids.

When I was a JW and running with the JW teenagers in high school, I had a friend that would sneak out to the car at lunch and get hammered. He would keep a hidden flask in school and knew where he could get served without any issues. He regularly got into fights and beat the crap out of several kids. He was all over the "worldly" girls yet his parents wouldn't let him do after school activities or sports because of bad associations. He had many girlfriends in high school. Elder's kids having sex, partying, drinking, light drug use, drag racing, and stealing were common after "JW time." Ironically, they would be used as a fine christian example in meeting and assembly parts. We thought it was funny because he was the worst of the worst. Only 1 out of about a dozen are still a JW.
