I'm sure that KHs in Africa are built a substantial fraction of the cost of ones in 1st world countries such as the USA, UK, or Germany for example. You could probably build a KH in Africa for the price of a used car in the USA. One sold KH in a 1st world country could net 10-15 KHs in these lands. Just don't see that kind of growth in these area? Just look at the numbers in the report. -

"The Branch did not approve of us to get a video security system"
by James Jack inthis was the reply i was given by our coordinator at our recent kingdom hall security meeting.. he explained that they aren't allowed to buy any appliances or do any changes to the kingdom hall without branch approval.
"we put in our letter that a video security system could be purchased for around $600 locally and an app could be downloaded for the attendants to monitor the cameras what's going onoutside.
" they said;" such a system would not be needed in our area of the country, if standard protocols of security are followed as outline by the branch.

"road to nowhere" is on to something. In the next year or two, the org will probably require congregations to buy their "approved" security equipment and software at inflated prices for a "suggested" donation determined by the amount of publishers in the hall. Since halls are closing and congs are being merged, lots of pubs in a cong means lots of $ for the equipment and less equipment is needed because of less congregations are in place.

It wouldn't be a difficult choice for me to make. Either 21 months of mandatory military service or becoming a JW with the possibility of being fully indoctrinated and messed up for the rest of my life. I'd choose the 21 months of service and a free life and mind, afterwards. Imagine sacrificing your entire life for 21 months. Thank goodness that everyone in SK doesn't feel that way. Otherwise, NK could just walk across the the DMZ and take over SK.

192-page books
by Fred Franztone inthis is my 192nd post, so i thought it'd be fitting to ask a somewhat banal question which i've occasionally pondered over the years.
does anyone know what's behind the wt's penchant for 192-page books?
is there some kind of logistical reason for this?

I always thought it was odd that everything that they had to include in a book could be done in exactly 192 pages??

Were You Close To Your Non JW Family?
by minimus ini was thinking of how little i know about my father’s side of the family.
i recently inquired about ancestry.com and i’ve come to the realization that even the closest sides of my family via my father, are unknown to me .
what a shame that jehovah’s witnesses kept us apart.

Before my family became Jdubs, we use to see my family a lot. We would visit my local aunt, uncle, and cousins almost monthly. We would drive about 6 hours to visit other aunts, uncles, and cousins. We even went on holiday trips together at times. We visited family in Florida, Wisconsin, and Texas. After their conversion and for the next 25 years, I can count on my hand the number of times that I saw family. It was usually for a funeral or wedding (only the reception or wake because the church was evil). I have 2nd cousins that I had never met. I probably would not have recognized my first cousins as well. It is sad how the WT encourages separation between unbelieving family members except when you should try to convert them. I regret those 25 years of indoctrination. -

Commercial airline pilots carry the same suitcases/briefcases for flight maps and technical aircraft manuals in case of an inflight emergency. I never understood why eldurs needed such large cases for "theocratic" litter-a-ture.

A few of my favorites:
Are chapped lips a major issue for pioneers? Extreme cold or heat sends them to the local coffee shop for most of the morning
Do I want my kid to be a walking billboard at school? This should get his ass kicked.
It's missing the 3 fold cord around their necks.
This will look real impressive if we ever do a quick build again.
Could there ever be an uglier piece of fabric?
They seller needs to understand that they need to lose the cross.
Show me where you were touched.
Do you also make matching nipple rings?
Now, this is "fake" news!
Just don't put it between your legs!

Perfect tank top for my gym workout.
I don't even know what to say.
Yes, I have too much time on my hands.

Anyone pissed at their parents for raising you in the cult?
by blownaway inmy mother was not the most emotionally stable person.
she was a follower and instilled in me the idea we were better than those worldly people.
its hard to go to school as a child and you can not be friends outside of school, you can not celebrate any holidays, and you are told all these people are going to die.

Yes, I am pissed that my parents introduced me to this cult. Your parents are suppose to protect you from unhealthy influences until you can protect yourself. My parents really had no need that I can see to join the JW cult. My mom was college educated with a good job. My dad was in the Marines and had a lucrative job and a good career. They were well off. They didn't have any mental issues like many that join. My mom had a good heart and let some "sisters" into her home one day. I remember as a young kid that she use to have this self help book on the shelf titled, "How to say, No." My mom couldn't say no..except to me and my sibling. Well, some "sister" was using her to fill her "time card." After being told to drop her as a study when fast enough progress wasn't being made, she disobeyed and continued studying with her off and on for the next 10 years! Likewise, my father and I were indoctrinated as well. My life was wasted away by the choices that she had made, as well as the choices that were required that I make. I could have done so much more with my interests and talents. Now, her grandchildren are trapped in this cult and they are all required to shun me. They are stuck in dead end menial jobs with a meager education. Even though, I wanted more for my kids, offered more, and could see the org for the joke that it is, the kids were indoctrinated too. The family dynamic is dysfunctional and the family destroyed due to the WTBT$. Yes, I'm pissed.

Circuit Assembly Experiences
by Tallon inmany years ago, in the congregation i attended at the time, there was a brother who had endured bad health over many years.
as result he underwent a number of operations - a couple being life saving operations.
at one or two circuit assemblies he was interviewed on the platform where he related how he endured ill health.. for me, i felt very uncomfortable listening to his experience and, i actually felt embarrassed for him because i have never been one to speak of any health issues i had, let alone publicise it from the platform.

I remember a particular assembly part that must have made most JWs feel terrible. They were interviewing a single mom of 3 boys that received dialysis several times a week, works a full time job to support the family, and was a reg aux pioneer. It made my self sparing, lazy ex feel like crap. In order to build herself up after hearing the "experience" at the assembly, she would tear me down all the way home. "You don't do enough." "You should be reaching out for more privileges." Actually, I wanted less "privileges!" Thus, she is my ex. It would happen after ever assembly. She would compare herself to some "exemplary" circuit stooge that was chosen to show others that they don't do enough and could do more. The GB are dumb as foxes. They know exactly what they were doing.
