When I found out that my family refers to me as the Anti-Christ, it really made me angry. Now I just laugh. Welcome to the club. You are in excellent company!

well according to my mum anyway.
she came home from a meeting a few months back, looked at me and with a slightly manic laugh declared "you are the antichrist!".
i of course was shocked and ran to the bathroom to check my freshly shaven head for any marks etc but found nothing.

as most of you already know, the jehovah's witnesses are covering an article in their august kingdom ministry to be discussed the weeks of 8/19 and 8/26 which details how they are to shun and avoid those who are no longer members of their organization, even immediate family members.. .
undoubtedly this article has been written to reinforce to the rank&file jehovah's witnesses the shunning policy, so as to tighten the ranks and prevent members from having the opportunity to learn the abundant contradictions and hypocrisies found within watchtower doctrine and practice from any who may have left.. this policy also serves to divide families and attempt to shame or abuse those whom have chosen to no longer be jehovah's witnesses, for whatever reason.. that much is obvious.
in recent days this topic has been discussed in detail in various threads.
I am not disfellowshipped nor disassociated. However, I am shunned by friends and family. I believe after my mother passes (she is terminal and I help care for her) that I will be disfellowshipped then.
i have read of some people's bitterness because they were denied the opportunity to go to college.
during the 60's and 70's the society really discouraged any education other than what was necessary.
since the end was so near, especially around 1975, anybody that decided to go to "higher education" was considered very weak and unbalanced.
I went to a Vocational H.S., and two of my teachers saw my passion for cooking and begged me to apply at Johnson & Wales. My parents angrily opposed it. This went on for 2 years! It made me so sick inside.
I'm currently looking into online courses - in a different field
.

i guess i'm a bit slow when it comes to xjw news, i just heard that mr. bowen is having a silentlambs march.
i wish i could afford to be there but i'm broke.
are any of you going to make it?
I'll be there.
i thought it would be interesting if we started count here on this board.
please list how many you know personally, then add from the previous results, to keep a running tally.
i realize it wont be an accurate count but perhaps an estimate of those that we know or are aquatinted with.. i'll start.. 3 +.
I know 3 Silentlambs.

hi folks,.
i'm just sort of taking role call to all those x-dubs who are now brothers and sisters in christ.
i think it is wise for us to rise up and be counted so that we know who each other are.
I'm new here as you can see from my posts. I was raised a JW for 15 years. Ten years after leaving the JW's I became a born again Christian. I am also a Silent Lamb.

can any of you married folks recommend a spot for an inexpensive honeymoon?
this would be at the mid-end of october.
we'd like to stay away from places where hurricane season might not make for honeymoon fun.
My hubby and I went to Disney World. It was great. Beacause it was off season-we paid the value season rates, there were no lines, and the weather was cool. Good luck with your search, I'm sure you could find really great deals on travel now.
Congratulations,

I grew up in Philadelphia and attended Kensington English and the Northeast Congregation. I now live about an hour from Philly.
