  how did/has the wtbts affected your social skills, social development, and/or how you interact with other people?

  i was considered "exemplary" but i defintely liked my drinking with my other fellow examples.. porn was never a terrible thing to me.

  i looked.. throwing in a few extra hours and placements worked pretty well for me too..

  Sometimes it depends on whose "conscience" I offend, ie, whose grain I plucked on the Sabbath.

  I loved to read fantasy and loved the Lord of the Rings films. In some people's minds, that made me worse than Hitler.

  that video gets to the heart of the reason (can't remember how to embed, so if somebody else wants to, then great, more people will watch it.).

  the reason evolution has a hard time getting traction in some countries is strictly a religious one.

  well, we spend enough time on this forum criticizing the society don't we?

  i think we should even this out by commending them whenever they get something right.. for example, the cover of the 2012 yearbook is a vast improvement on the year before!.

  graphics guy: so ed, what pictures do you want on our 2011 yearbook cover?

  Artistically--the dramas are far, far worse. Obviously a product of a committee with no background in writing plot or dialog. And the modern storylines show no conception of the real world.

  In later years of my being a Witness, the Armageddon doctrine that descended from Rutherford bothered me more and more. India and China represent two billion people…and I've worked with a number from these countries over the years and I knew they were really good people and didn't deserve everlasting destruction. I carried around a sinking feeling over this in my stomach. I would pray: "Why? Why? Why?"

  And it's especially ludicrous that their salvation depended on their response to my 30 to 60 second spiel at the doorstep. If their life was at stake like this there needed to be signs and miracles--say a Governing Body member walking through a nursing home or hospital and healing everyone in sight. I realized nothing less would get people to join the Witnesses.

  I know I'm not the only Witness who struggled with this doctrine and had severe angst about the destruction of seven billion people, and reconciling that to a God of love. My mother wrestles with this as well and asks the same questions. Alas, she is too far under mind control to find answers.

  It is a relief to know that is not what the Bible teaches.

  i am no longer one of jehovah's witnesses(well mentally that is)---however i am a christian...i recently started reading different translations from www.biblegateway.com...jesus is so different to how the jw's teach....and god...i mean, i still am learning and confused about certain things but i am in love with them.... it's obvious that the jw's are not an organization of god.i don't think god is working through an organization but through individuals...however i am going to speak to an elder tomorrow about my issues---all of them---and i'm going to tell him everything--what i've been reading,where i got it from---everything!!

  i'm not hiding anything!

  i have done no wrong....i just want to be a true christian and if they disfellowship me for seeking answers then this is not where i need to be.

  Dear sister…please give yourself more time to reevaluate this. This can only end up one way and you have no idea how intense and never-ending the pain of being shunned is. You might know it in theory. I, and others here, know this pain in reality. Please do not jump off the battlement. "You must not put Jehovah your God to the test."

  If you get expelled for "apostasy"…how would you ever be able to undo that? You would be burning a bridge that could never be rebuilt. Nor would you ever be able to explain to your loved ones among the Witnesses after that, because afterwards, as someone on JWN quaintly put it--you would only be talking to the back of their heads.

  If you fade, you will have more of a chance to quietly share points that make your loved ones think. Perhaps if you are subtle, you will be able to help some. If you leave like this, you will help nobody.

  Why not come over to JWStruggle, join the forum, and talk to us fellow believers in Christ?

  Ack! This is off topic, but the 7000-year creative day brings back flashbacks of arguments I had with my father when I was 15. 9 th grade Earth Science easily debunked the Society's brand of fundamentalism and I never could accept it. My father on the other hand was very insistent on the idea and didn't want to listen to my concerns regarding the evidence. In retrospect, I should be thankful he didn't haul me in front of the elders for apostasy.
