  this week is the super special week of activity with one of our favorite jw celebrities...the circuit overseer!!!.

  in last night's talk, he gave sooooo much encouragement...just hearing him made me want to fall to my knees and worship him!

  Does your heart still race when suddenly coming accross a JW?

  it did for me even though i eventually walked out on my terms and fully convinced of the apostasy of the watchtower pharisees and sanhedrin (governing body).. initially it was very confusing and bewildering since i was a 3rd generation born-in and the watchtower was the only "reality" i'd known for more than 40 years.. a psychologist diagnosed ptsd (post traumatic stress disorder) and recommended attending a cult conference and workshop for victims of psychological manipulation.

  i learnt about "triggers" that cause turmoil and upset whilst one is suffering from ptsd.. for nearly 2 years i could not answer a phone without a minor panic attack.

  i could only respond to voicemails.

  There are several people I met at the door whilst I was a JW that I wish I could find, go back, and thank as well. Specifically, one man who asked us in, sat us down, and proceeded to calmly and patiently ask us questions about the origins of our faith. Those barely perceptical then nuggets of information remained with me for a long time. They sat on rocks on my mind.

  After we left his house, determined to get out overseer to come over and talk to this man, an overseer who refused after we told him of the type of questions the man was asking, those nugget seedlings were washed on the fertile ground and carefully watered by compounded WT gaffs.

  This elders refusal to even talk to this man, coupled with his disapproving look when me and my wife drove off in our two door sports car, set the wheels in motion for me to eventually see my way out of there.

  Is my marriage worth saving?

  long story - will make it short - i was a jw for 4 years.

  hy husband took to it straigt away and has been a jw for 20 years - we were both converted by one of his workmates.

  our 4 kids were all baptised jws and thankfully 3 escaped (2 disfellowshipped, one fading) - so my eldest son is still in with his dad.

  i spoke with an elder about university

  he always tells me that i've adopted him as a father...we're pretty close.

  i spoke with him asking for some advice about whether or not to pursue my degree.he, to my surprise, couldn't give me his opinion.he told me that if he tells me how he really feels (he says he has some strong views on the matter) he may be disciplined for 'promoting higher education'....in effect he was telling me to go ahead and pursue my degree but not really saying it.

  he asked me to promise him that i'll speak to the presiding overseer and the circuit overseer....i haven't as yet.

  Not only critical thinking skills, but how to research, I mean to do REAL research on a topic and to not just isolate your research to WT books and pamphlets.

  The first time I decided that I was going to school, my wife went completely bonkers. Now, she hasn't had to work in the last 15 years and often wonder what will become of her if something were to happen to me.

  But, now that I'm back just finishing up a Bachelors and deep in for a masters, she around about way is trying to tell me I'm never satisfied and is still trying to downplay education on the sly.

  That WT programming is pretty damn strong.

  i'm on page 90 right now...the info is definitely new and gives me a totally diff view as to how i used to think of faithful and discreet slave.

  i was thoroughly disgusted with the way the brothers handled the oral sex and leadership problem and the insight on the scriptures book...... still have alot of questions though.

  Waht you think about the organization and how you acto towards it is about to undergo a radical shift. It really can't be helped after reading that book.

  The WT organization knows this and it is for that reason, among others, that they villify, forbid, and threaten with sanction anyone who reads it and share its content within the JW community.

  Take the advice of others here. Take it slow....and be careful!!!!!

  well, i sat thru day 2 of the latest circuit assembly.

  instead of having the co or do re address the "generation" confusion, they had a couple of brothers do a demonstration.

  mocha break out in service, weaker brother mentions he's tired....all of the changes lately, the confusing new understanding of that generation, et al.

  My hats off to you sir.....

  I just can't bring myself to go with my wife to these wastefests and sit through them for the sake of her getting any flack about my non-participation in WT activities. As far as I am concerned, if she gets disapproving comments or vibes from them because I'm not a footstep follower of those old geezers in Brooklyn, then the solution to her problem lies between them and her.

  I ain't got nuthin to do wit it!!!!!
