My study conductor said they would get zapped instantly if they disobeyed in the new system.
My wife thinks that as well.
If true, there's going to be as much death post new system as there is now.
don't worry, i'm not loosing my mind.
but whether you are christian, agnostic, atheist, thor-worshipper or otherwise, just pretend with me for a moment.. armageddon comes and wipes out wicked people.
there is a resurection and some kind of test and the ones that pass make it into the glorious new world.. how long would it last before a revolt?

the scene is familiar.. a jehovah's witness family with one member who has awakened from the lie.. the split comes down to an interesting wrong terminology:.
unbelieving mate vs believing mate.. .
the context of the entire family is as a jehovah's witness family.. damage has already been done.
Great write up. I could see only one caveat....
"I'm not attacking anybody or threatening anyone in Jehovah's organization. I would appreciate it if you would return the favor"
I would avoid alluding to "that" organization as belonging to jehovah or any concept thereof. "Your organization" I think would be a more apt and neutral description not giving it any moral or spiritual authority real or perceived.
I would think that referring to it the way you suggests would slightly weaken your position and give them cause to believe that, sufficiently pushed, they would be able to turn you back or make you "come to your senses" (I hate that JW-esque line).
Don't leave the door open for them.
Not even a crack.
Cop a Squat!!!!
so the other night, my family was together and my dad brought up the recent child abuse conviction for the society.
big surprise, my sister hadn't heard anything about it, so of course she got right on to the jw.org website and emailed me the link to the watchtowers official statement.
this is my reply:.
why even bother......
is their a different set of laws for jw in california?
it seems to be so much more lax as opposed to other parts of u.s?
from beiang able to get tats the parties oh mean gatherings lol just seemed dif anyone else notice?.
A few years back we went on vacation to Hawaii and thought we'd hit a meeting. Didn't bring any fancy clothes, thought they'd be pretty laid back there . . . Boy were we wrong! They were dressed to the nines! And just as uptight as any bethel congregation. So sure, California has a free-and-easy feel associated with it, but the JWs may just be the exception.
I hear you on that one.
On a recent vacation to hawaii, the wife made it a point of contention that she go to meeting. Of course, she packed for us the requisite WT approved garb, but, what a contrast it was that enclave of dogmatism amongst the laid back lifestyle of everyone else.
Two hours I would spare since we were there for two weeks, but, I put my foot down to anything more than that. I didn't spend $6G and fly 5000 miles just so that she could spend all her time there door knocking.
is this recent?

i havent seen anyone post about it, the link has a pdf on it of the court documents, and it looks like the stamp is from 5/12 but its blurry.. .
Yeah...
It looked like WT corporate tried to hang the congregation and the elders out to dry on that one.
are you disfellowshipped, disassociated, active, inactive???
?.
Last I cared, inactive, but I guess I'm still treated as a brother.
Which, in itself, is surprising as the last time a couple of elders were in my home trying to chastise me, I let them know that we can talk biblical subjects all day long, but that I would not be chastised and talked down to as if I were a little kid in my own home.
The looks on their faces were worth a million bucks.....
this story has been brought to my attention, and i thought i would share it with you all.. a very poorly young jehovah's witness girl in south australia has been ordered to have a blood transfusion.
the court heard that the girl, who suffers from leukaemia, would die "within weeks" if she were deprived of the life-saving treatment.. the parents appear to have put up a tacit fight for their rights to be respected, but their solicitor made some telling remarks when he said:.
"it's not like they are acting with callous disregard for her wellbeing or her future,".
I am willing to bet that there are some JWs who privately welcome state intervention when it comes to their kids as they are to spineless to stand up and buck the soceity's mandate on blood for fear of how it would "look" in the congregation or how it would affect their social standing.
I have seen JWs croon about how far bloodless surgeries have come because of witness refusal take blood as an encouragement for doctors to look for non-blood alternatives.
They didn't think it was funny when I commented on how many "crash test dummies" they've provided to the medical community.
are jw's all abuzz about the "blessing" the gb has given them in the form of this new training video?.
That video ws very disturbing for me to watch because I saw so much of my wife in it in they way she used to dealing with our now grown son and in her dealing with other relatives. Anything no matter how minute was weighed against whether or not it served kingdumb interests or made their sock-puppet god happy or not. Anything that came up that was questionable or demonstrated disfavor upon the soceity...something was wrong with your motives, or,....you can pack your bags....we're going on a guilt trip!!!!!
The best way I've found with dealing with JWs when they take that tact is to call into question th eir motives and that of the soceity. Point out the inconsistency in their arguments, the non-sequiter of their facts, and ask them questions where they are forced to backtrack or deny that the organization has said or done something it can be proven it did.
hey peeps,.
it's been a long while since i've posted (i am completely out - wife and kids still in) but thought you might this interesting.. they came home from the district convention yesterday with the new dvd intended for kids.
they popped it in right away and this is what happens:.
Oh my.....
I just watched the first two "lessons" and that is the most disgusting shit I've ever seen.
