To All Those With The Elders' Textbook

i'm not an elder but i do have a photocopy of the book from the net.

a number of elders in the congregation say that i should hand it over to them as "i should not have it.

" the chief reason they give for their request is that the information therein (such as the chapters on judicial cases) is not for my consumption and would not be of any use to me as i'm not an elder in the same way a book on surgical technique would be of little use to me if i wasn't a practicing surgeon.. the claim is made that those who post confidential "to the body of elders" letters on the net are being dishonest - therefore they are not christians.

Control, intimidation, control, control. That's what that is all about. We'll tell you what you should and should not read, what's suitable for your comsumption and you will dare not question our authority! YOU WILL COMPLY !!!!

I have a poster behind my desk at that has a chihauhau (sp) that looks at whoever see's it from a view that has it's tail straight up in the air. There's a caption that reads "Here's My Final Answer !!" That would be the nicest answer I would be able to give them. (For those who don't get it, the poster subtly tells those who read it that if they don't like the answer I just gave them to a question they asked, they can kiss my a$$.)

The claim is made that those who post confidential "To the Body of Elders" letters on the net are being dishonest - therefore they are not Christians. Nothing I said to them on this matter convinced them otherwise.

Maybe these same elders can explain the dishonesty of the WT double standard of its "fornicating" with the UN.

On second though...naaaaaaaa.....they wouldn't want to talk about that.

Classic "if you don't like the message shoot the messenger" logic. They're incapable of acknowledging fault with the WT so there's something wrong with you. It's either that or just explained away as "new Light" or you're "running ahead". JW's are very good at that.

I'll just have to point that out to my wife the very next time she says that the society NEVER said that the end would come in 1975.

when a witness i was afraid of dying at the big a. now i just fear dying.

It's not death I fear, but the transformation from life to death that scares the hell out of me.

Pictures in the mags

have you noticed the pictures in the mags and books, when showing a picture of a witness house in a western land where they are prehaps having the book study or some thing similiar?.

how come the house is always well decorated with nice matching furniture?.

according to the society we should all be giving up our jobs and pionering.. a more true to life photo if we were pioneering like the mags say we should , be a few boxes to sit on along with some unmatching second hand chairs and table along with the partly decorated walls in a bed-sit.. so why don't they show the houses of pioneers when they use pictures?.

Of course they had to "council" me when I chose to go to community college because as we all know a good job will do me no good when the world won't live past 1995. Yeah, in fact all the guys that told me not to go to college had good jobs and big houses.[/quote]

I remember when I started going back to school. I had elders in my place almost every weekend implying that I was wasting my time and would only be able to get minimum wage jobs in the computer industry when finished. All the while they're riding around in their big fancy cars and nice suits. At least one elder was in the business as an AS400 administrator. Wonder if he got that kind of training from peddling magazines all over the place?

My JW wife was vehemently against me going back to school also, using the same kind of reasoning. They all believed that I should stay in my practically then burger flipping job and work on my dwindling to nothing meeting and field service attendance. The old "pray" about it and "wait on Jehovah" nonsense. She's since changed her tune now that she's enjoying the benefits of that "taking back my life" decision made long ago.

Whats your opinion on the best way to step down??

i know a lot of you here were former pioneers, servants and elders.

how did you go about stepping down?

did you just not say anything, did you write a letter or call one of the elders?.

It's amazing how much madness and subterfuge one has to go through to honorably get out of this organization as if taking control over your life was a dishonorable thing to do. To say that it is a lie that these people micromanage the lives of those supposedly under their "care" is an understatement. It should be an easy thing to decide that you just don't want to participate in JWdom anymore for whatever reason and walk away but the WT chains you to them using your family as hostages.

A resignation like that is sure to cause quite a stir in the gossip mill in the congregation. I can just imagine all the puzzled looks everyone will be giving everybody.

Finally Did It

well i finally ordered crisis of conscience.

even though i've been da'd since 1989 the truth is that i always considered it to still be the truth up until a couple of years ago when i started researching more through sites like this.

i never got around to getting my hands on that book though, and now can't wait until it arrives.

I am just going to have to get this book C of C. Think I'll check to see if the local library carries it. I can read it while my wife is attending one of those useless meetings.
