  Did Prayer work for you, or not?

  jws, and christians in genreral, are taught that god answers prayers of sincere believers.

  on the other hand, there is a popular bumpersticker which reads "nothing fails like prayer".. what has been your experience in this regard?

  My Non-Earthshaking JW Encounter

  this one is not earthshaking in any way, but i thought i would share it in the hopes that it'll give you the same chuckle that it gave me.. yesterday my wife and i were out on errands, and we ate at a local fast food restaurant.

  we ordered, and took our food to our table.

  in the table next to us was a mail carrier on his lunch break.

  i've been reading some of the posts here, and i notice a significant number of them make reference to "jehovah" or something called "jehovah's witnesses.

  although i attended the kingdom hall services for more than 20 years, i can't say i'm familiar with the term.

  could someone enlighten me?

  there are many artists whose work i love, but i think my all time favorite is sargent... my second home, growing up, was the museum of fine arts in boston, and additionally, the gardner museum close by... both have important sargents... the way he painted light was liquid and sensual... a master at making the complex look effortless....he had it all.... http://jssgallery.org/major_paintings/major.htm.

  I really like the 1955 Studebaker Speedster. They were lime green and yellow with wire wheels. It kind of was a prototype to the later Hawks. Very few were made and I'm not sure if any exist. They basically were the same body as the 1953 2 dr. coupes, low and way ahead of their time.

  The Stevens museum in Milwaukee has the proto-types of what would have been the new Studebakers for 1967 and they were neat, but alas never to be put into production. Maybe there is a web-site that would show pictures of them?

  PS In our area you could not be a good JW if you didn't have a 4 dr. Studebaker.

  Anyone Cash in their Investments?

  i was just wondering, with the collapse of some of the big investment groups, how many or if anyone has cashed in their 401k's or other investments?

  i'm just wondering what everyone's favorite brand and type of ice cream is.

  i recently have been able to eat dairy products after having my gall bladder removed.

  i always thought i was lactose intolerant, but all along it was my g.b.

  Since we know the economy is in a crisis, how are you budgeting better?

  i thought it would be useful if we discussed ways we have tried to budget better and also save, and even be greener, if that is something you care about.

  i have noticed substantial differences in my saving and budgeting and i am hoping maybe we can learn from each other.. food.

  i did a sum of all the money i was spending going out a few days a week for lunch, and i just realized how much i could save by making my lunch and buying soups on sale for lunch for the week.
