when i left the catholic church in the late 1960s it was somewhat painful, but my new found religion of jehovahs witnesses seem to be the "right thing at the right time" given the social and family unrest at the time.

Thoughts you are experiencing are normal, and many of us have thought about all these things too. Keep ahold of the 'anchor' Christ. Many questions will be answered as time goes by, but remember we will never know the complete knowledge of God. But you can and will feel his presence in your life at various times.

i have two brothers and two sisters; one brother is a jehovah's witness circuit overseer, and the other one was just sentenced to death for murder.. my mother died from insanity when i was very young.

i've witnessed these all...unfortunately... this is for all here who aren't jw's or xjw's.
this is what the jw's r really like.... problem: get rid of the crusty old geezers doing privledges.
example: the old has-beens who think they are elders and can boss people around.. problem: the thing where u have to ask the elders for everything.. example: in the literature room there was a box of old books, of which were books i needed to plug up gaps in my collection.

some have said it's because they do not want you looking out and daydreaming.
others have said it slows down the two day quick build miracles by at least an hour.. my mother may have hit it on the head when she said, "when the time comes it will be easier for them to 'gas' you!".

for decades now, those words have appeared atop one of the watchtower societys buildings in new york city.. that exhortation may never have been more needed by jehovahs people themselves than it is today.
recent posts have asked good questions regarding what can or will sustain individual jehovahs witnesses who do truly love god, but who may be disheartened by various things they have seen in the organization.. it is clear to me that many witnesses spend far more time reading the societys publications than gods word itself.
one reason sometimes given is that the preparation and research has already been done for you, thus making it easier.

the 5/1/97 watchtower says of this: jehovah god is the grand identifier of his true messengers.
Actually they were right about 1975 being the end! It just wasn't as bad as we expected it to be! And the New Order isn't quite what I expected personally, but we certainly shouldn't fault New York, as they get their messages from an angel of God.

my wife and i have at different times and different assemblies worked in accounting.
we noticed a pattern of manipulation of figures to move the brothers to contribute more thinking that the assembly was short the needed cash to take care of expenses even when there was plenty of money!.
has anyone else out there ever worked in the 'money room' also, and if so, what did you observe?.

The main reason I liked accounting is that I did not have to sit and listen to all the 'guilt talks' plus at that time we got an 'Administration' parking permit which was close by!
