Do you believe you have a particular purpose in life?
by journey-on ini ask this because as a jw, you are programmed to think your only purpose is to preach the good news of the kingdom....period.
but more and more, i've noticed in my own life a strong pull toward something i won't elaborate on, but it has me thinking that maybe we really do each have a particular purpose and it's up to us to discover what it is.
i know i'm kind of new to the forum, but please let me know if any of you have experienced this same kind of unusually strong pull toward something you can't fully explain.

I think we have all been given God given gifts/talents and discovering them, then putting them into practice for God's glory and help/encouragement to our fellow humans is our purpose.
That means great variety on how we each live our lives out.

Lets TALK COLON CANCER (join in)

almost a taboo topic,it seems anything goes with explicit talk of sexual matters but folks are squeamish when discussing bm (bowel movements) as a 28 year patient ravaged with a diseased bowel from the auto immune disease ulcerative colitis i have lost my bashfulness.
i have had countless colonoscopy .they can make you so relaxed with a little morphine that i once fell asleep.

The procedure is a 'piece of cake' as here at least they put you out just like a regular operation. It's the preparing for it, the no eating and taking a liquid you have to drink every hour or so that is the 'pits'!
I used to live in Michigan near a city called 'Colon'. I think it was the 'rear end' of the world!

PS I had a glass eye that I was going to insert for the doctor to discover, but then decided against it the last minute.

Interestingly my uncle owned a gas station in Michigan, and the Elder's told him he could not henceforth sell cirgarettes at the station. He was to immediately destroy his stock (worth hundreds of dollars) and not wait until the stock sold out or dwindled.
Needless to say, my Uncle left the JW's at that time! They lost another good Servant in the congregation, who never came back.

I bought my JW daughter a beautiful and expensive cello when she was in school and she was very good at playing it. When she grew up, I think she sold it or it's setting in some closet. Too much time was needed for the all important meetings and field service!

Why so many "qualifications"
by bonnzo inif jesus could find someone at work(matt 9:9; mark 1:16-21) and ask them to be a follower without having to go over 164,000 questions(just kidding a little bit) to see if they qualify to be a publisher of the good news, why do jw's do this?
the same for baptism; the ethiopian eunoch did not, according to scripture, go over a bunch of questions to be baptized, so why?

Maybe it's because the 'questions' are in a book and you would need to 'buy' a book to read them over. If you just got babtised there would be no book sale!
