  JW Definition of "Apostate"

  so recently, after having a conversation with a jehovah's witness, i started wondering about how jws define the term "apostate.

  " officially, every elder would tell you that an apostate is one who leaves the jehovah's witness faith.

  but did anyone else notice that this is not how they use the word colloquially—that they're sort of dishonest about it?.

  jehovah's witnesses have had to revise their chronology and various doctrinal interpretations due to events and scholarly corrections.

  but the one teaching where they have been consistently ahead of the curve is the importance of jehovah's name.. .

  i'm going to run through a (necessarily selective) timeline of jw events and scholarly publications that demonstrate the phenomenal success of this teaching in the last days.

  I have to say, based on this thread alone, that SBF remains perhaps my favorite poster. He doesn't play the game and articulates issues well - which is not to say I always agree with him.....steve2

  I absolutely don`t agree with him on this thread.

  However.

  I enjoy a lot of what he posts on other subjects.

  SBF thinks outside of the box and won`t be bullied.

  ah yes the convention is approaching.

  wife is squirreled away with her wt books, her laptop and the tablet thing ..even at meals.. conversation is a word or two and not often.

  spoken to.. doesn't answer.. and on return it will be grumps on for at least a week.. anyone else know this phenomenon?.

  a poster on another thread said it's a new rule brought in at this years convention.. last year they were told to shun even non df people and now this?
