i bet the watchtower loves this one!
a jehovah's witness running for president in africa!!!.
read the story on the watchtower observer.. the story ends like this:.
Dubs ARE allowed to vote.
I've been looking for the Questions From Readers on the matter, but I can't find it (no CD-ROM anymore and I think it was more recent and in magazines for which I don't have any bound volumes). It's a typical WT "waffle" though. It's a conscience matter in those nations where citizens are required to vote, or some such.
Can anyone find and scan the article? I'm thinking 1999?

the following is the first-draft of a letter i would like to send to the society.
any and all suggestions would be appreciated.
(don't worry, i've developed a thick-skin.
Dear (((Wuzzy))),
I would like to see a copy of your final letter. I have been away and only now stumbled across this thread in a search for another. The draft is excellent and I, too, liked the Scriptural references you made.
It would make an excellent letter to your local religion editor, too.
Or the Family Life section editor of your local newspaper?
Thanks for the effort.

i was wondering if anyone was privy to any insider information about whether or not the society has seen the need to cut back on the meetings to possibly 2 or even just 1 meeting a week?
Quandry,
The bookstudy attendance especially is very low, our CO mentioned in passing that the figures here in the US are close to 55% of the reg publishers actually attending the BS!
Chuckling at your unintended pun, and realizing that I was never cut out to be a salesperson, because I always preferred "attending the BS" to going to the TMS/Svc. Mtgs. to learn how to SELL the BS!
Welcome to the Board!

i didn't write this poem, but think it is awesome.
a friend sent it to me yesterday.. if jesus was an elder.
if jesus was an elder, what would be his main concern?.
And thanks for bringing it TTT, Tweetie, or I WOULD have missed it.
Thank you, too, Mulan, for posting it.
It will be my next piece of mail to my still lost friend.

the ultrasound results are in: foxy and i are going to be having a baby girl, sometime around the end of january!
yippie!.
i'm just realizing, though, that i know nothing about girls, having grown up with three brothers.
Congratulations, Dedalus and Foxy!
As the mother of three, count 'em, THREE, girls, I'd say you're in for a treat!
My only advice is not to get too anxious about how "instinct" is supposed to kick in. That's bull. You've never done this before, so you need to LEARN how to parent. Therefore, read, read, read, and discuss with one another beforehand how you feel about discipline.
For example: Can one ever spoil a child by holding them when they're crying? (Even if you answer "No!" your resolve will be tested the moment you have a colicky baby. )
Enjoy the anticipation and my best wishes for a safe delivery!

dedicated to those who thought they were the only ones.... the only one.
a troubled child with vacant eyes sits quietly alone with not much to say,.
he killed her puppy and said she would be next if she told her friends at play.. a father who betrayed her trust, violated her innocence and left her emotionally numb,.
Bill,
Reading a poem like this makes my entire body feel weighted down.
Besides the poor one described in it, and the others who have told their stories here or posted them to your site, I think of my dear friend who is still in and is "patiently waiting on Jehovah" to right the wrongs perpetrated against her. They include sexual abuse by a half-brother, physical abuse by her father (still a JW in good standing) and emotional abuse by her mother. It is sickening.
And now to read that the stance on how to treat the victims differs from country to country, which means, of course, that the Governing Body has been speaking out of both sides of their collective mouths...
How far the mighty have fallen in my estimation! I am so sorry that I devoted ANY of my time and allegiance to such two-faced, uninterested, callous "shepherds." How many do you think are rotting in hell? (or burning? depending on your theology?) And God help the idle standers-by, too.

question.
my mother told my husband that there is to be a 'special meeting' in october at the local sports arena (same place as dc's are held here) and that "only publishers are allowed to attend" that they will get "special cards" for admission from their local congregation and have to hand them in to get into the building.
i have no idea if this has anything to do with the "annual meeting" they always have (isn't that generally in october?
So the date of this "historic four-hour meeting" will be October 7?
Does anyone know what time it will begin?
What do the admission tickets look like?
I'd be willing to try to sneak in unless Fredhall or Maximus are already planning a post-meeting report to the board?

i was raised a jehovah's witness all my life, though i don''t go any more, not till i fall on my head and not afraid to ask questions does this particular question come up.. what is gods name?.
people act as though everyone in the world speaks english, what about the third of the worlds population in china could it be that is his real name at this late date?
why do we assume that it has to be "jehovah" when it could just as easily be how they call it in china, or india, or arabia, or south america anywhere that there is a large population?.
I personally do not know,
but I think this may be a question to "Ask Father Naeblis"
See thread below.
