  Our knowledge of any point is informed by what we read or what we personally experience, so in this case it'll have to be based on what we read! Have you read any good historical treatises on this? Like at what point was the canon of the Holy Bible as we know it established?

  Then we would have to be informed as to when the Roman Catholic Church came into existence.

  I've made my previous comments on the impressions I've gained over the years. But I'm convicted that the Bible is the inspired Word of God. How about you?

  As a sid point, it's interesting to muse over how much God uses organisations such as the Catholic church and the JWs. Do they help or hinder? I wonder?

  Adjudicator's Report on Had Enough's claim to "double points" for her entry

  Verdict: Application declined. Although a good entry, the adjudicator considered that flattery (even if warranted) was insufficient grounds to substantiate the claim. Therfore it is declined.

  Recommendation: Applicant should re-apply.

  Whether the Catholic Church compiled the Bible canon or not, those who wrote it were not Catholic. Therefore you cannot say that it is of Catholic origin.

  Also, whether those who in early centuries gathered the canon were Catholic may be an interesting discussion in itself, but not as clearly established as you claim.

  It's not just in Japan that the dubs do not wear black to a funeral. I would suggest that is the case in any western country, certainly it is in any country I have lived in.

  You could ask her, Does this seem logical?

  Also, you could refer to Matthew 28:19,20 where Jesus said he would be with his disciples to the end of the age. So, JWs need to explain where Jesus was from the end of the first century until 1914.

  Just a thought or two.

  Without wishing to criticize your conscientious beliefs, may I comment on some of the points you make in your post.

  This sounds like another example of the conspiracy theory. Maybe you haven't been able to acquire knowledge of the inner workings of the Borg. I suggest you read both of Ray Franz's books. He makes the comment that, no matter what level of the Borg, all are "victims of victims".

  Had Enough,

  I recall in times past that the majority of JWs were ex-Catholic. With the benefit of hindsight we can see how there could be the attraction to disgruntled Catholics of a rule-laden, apparently sincere, non-hypocritical version of the same.

  Even now, in western lands the influx is still predominantly ex-Catholic. (Of course, with the revolving door operating in western lands, many of the long-serving members are leaving.)
