If they're not inspired how does Jesus communicate with the these guys? As for not being infallible, they tell their followers to obey even if it seems unreasonable.
Dead right George!
14 jesus provides wise direction in times of crisis.
the benefits of that direction were evident when the covid-19 pandemic broke out.
while many in the world were uncertain about what course to take, jesus made sure that we received clear guidance to keep us safe.

The elders were reminded to maintain regular contact with all in the congregation and to be aware of their physical and spiritual needs. (Isa. 32:1, 2)
That scripture speaks of princes ruling for justice, a bit of a stretch to claim it’s a prophecy about elders in JW congregations in the past couple of years caring for the members of their congregations in times of need.
What might be appropriate though is the use of the term “ruling” - we sure know about that, eh !

In that case he was providing that same direction to peoples around the world because what they claim as direction to them mirrors what all people were hearing.
It would be more convincing if they could show they received direction that was unique to them.
do you remember some of the weird and wacky stuff emanating from the watchtower society?
let's make a list from memory that we can use to inject a little humor into our discussions with jehovah's witnesses.
- venus may be an enormous jurassic park.. - germs don't cause disease.. - no beards allowed.
The point is not who originated 1914. The point is that the WTS has taught and still teaches this wackiness.
As an aside, I’d say they can’t get out of it, it’s locked in.
The alternative would be to acknowledge that “wicked” Christendom has it right.

@wannaexit
I could go on and on on the craziness of this religion
The scary thing is that your list is real - it really was/is the case!
this is the letter i wrote back in '96 about the parousia.
following the '95 watchtower that disconnected the "generation" from 1914 i began to look carefully at end-time prophecy and soon discovered what i knew were basic errors in what i had been taught.. i was a loyal jw at the time and was still serving as an elder.
i used only watchtower publications in my research.
Actually, I see nothing in the letter to justify disfellowshipping . He is asking questions in a polite, reasonable tone
I suspect they, that is the apparatchiks in Crooklyn, just didn’t have the intellectual capacity to absorb any of the reasoning, let alone refute it.
Reading the dumbing down of the writing style in their literature in the recent past leads me to that conclusion.

I assume that many of Lloyd's Patron's are in a similar space. Everything is shiny, fresh and new. Some of us who have been around for awhile know that most of what Lloyd is saying is old stuff. (There is precious little new anything in Watchtower land). From that point of view, Lloyd Evans is a genius, but they can't see that while some information is new to them, it isn't actually new.
Absolutely correct Jeff !
Since Lloyd claims his you tube activity is his “work” the imperative for him and many other you tubers is to produce content to keep his punters happy and believing that it’s essential knowledge that he’s churning out.
The reality is quite different; occasionally there might be something of real interest but in all honesty we can tread the path to freedom without most of it.

You don’t have to look far for wacky beliefs.
What about 1914 and then there’s the 144,000 , now try explaining that to a sane person.

If an individual makes the decision to undertake activism work that’s their choice and must be prepared to fund it.
Yep 👍🏼

People leave the religion for lots of reasons, but the unifying issue is accountability.
And, I might add, is the awareness of the ingredients of a cult.
Lloyd has ‘played’ so many people to build a self-aggandizing following.
IMO beware of any who are the latest ‘flavor of the month’.
Exiting the Borg is one thing, true Freedom is quite a different matter.
OK that’s my take.
Cheers,
Ozzie 🍷
