Research paper on Effects of Shunning
by peacefulpete inafter being around this site for 21 years now, i've heard many recount their stories and feelings.
many times i can immediately relate but other times they seem to have had a very different experience with the church.
i'm sure that is because not only are all of us different in personality, but congregations and family dynamics vary as well.

Hi Jan
Joe , l am sorry to say that l am not familiar with yours and Slimboy's assertion that the activity rates of JWs , compared to other religious traditions, are exceptional.
I too share the Anglican tradition. My wife, Mrs Ozzie and I became lay ministers after 50 years as dubs, then leaving and latterly doing bible college
I’ve gottasay that my experience is that Anglicans find it hard to comprehend the control that the WT has over its adherents, the extent to which that control extends.
The experiences related on this forum may seem bizarre to outsiders but are real to so many.
i’ve been around this forum for 21 years and have witnessed so many testimonies of abuse by the WT. At times it reads like an instant replay but nonetheless the experiences are real. The abuse and anguish are real. My wife (Mrs Ozzie) and I have felt it on a deeply personal level.
IMO you’ve got to have been there, to have walked in their shoes to really understand.
Blessings

I haven't heard about Tibor in a long time as well. I hope that he has moved on with his life.
Was he “Gracious” to the end?

The GB announced that these new GB members are "anointed Christians" however they have no special, God given powers to make that call, only their trust that these men are telling the truth.
“Oh what a tangled web we weave
When first we practice to deceive,”
Trying to cover up one lie (the Joe Ratherflawed anti-Scripture, apostate prognostication of two classes for salvation) with such convolutions as the overlapping interpretation and “who are we to judge” who is or who is not of the special class, leads to all manner of error.

It is pathetic how they force this "144000 only can partake" when the Bible clearly says that ALL Christians should take from the emblems.
Yep, it does and, while we do that, we make sure that those bound by the bizarre constrictions of Watchtower ‘belief’ know the Bible teaches “one hope, one Lord, one baptism” and not the hallucinations of the intemperate Joe Ratherflawed who substituted his teachings over truth. The truth was replaced by a lie. Jesus taught one hope, Joe said, “ Oh no, there’s two ! “ The trajedy is that millions believed the lie.
It matters little who the Borg regurgitates as part of its leadership, a lie is still a lie.
And Ozzie is still Ozzie. Cheers 🍷

How do JWs know that millions who were martyred as Christians before the 20th century did not have the heavenly hope?
by Vanderhoven7 inas i understand it, jehovah’s witnesses believe less than 145,000 faithful christians existed prior to the twentieth century.
the other sheep christians did not start forming until after 1914. that means jehovah’s witnesses view millions martyred for their faith in christ prior to the 20th century as merely professed christians.. the question is…how do witnesses know that those millions who perished for their faith in christ were not christians at all?.

If I can recall ( it seems so long ago) this was one of those things we/(they) close not to think about too much. Y’now those lines of thought that got terminated by “it’s in Jehovah’s hands”,
Looking back, there were so many of those unexplained thoughts.
Part of my own awakening was to visit the catacombs in Rome and see at first hand the evidence of so many early christian martyrs and to realise that it didn’t look realistic to claim there were less than 144,000 in the centuries before 1914.
For those R&F in these current times I find it hard to grasp how they can possibly accept an increasing number of the remnant (memorial partakers).
Cognitive dissonance indeed !

Simon knows I’m in the land downunder.
Dunno what the USA is a part of, do you? 🥴

I suspect that you and I left the UK for similar reasons, even though expressed differently ?
I’m glad to say that Mrs Ozzie and I found a much better place, even though it’s in the “colonies”.

Somehow I think nobody read the memo!
by LostintheFog1999 ini came across an old notebook of mine when we were spring cleaning our attic space.. for some reason i had written down these two references from older wt magazines.. reading over the two of them now i can only think that elders didn't pay any attention to the message either at the time or since.
*** w75 8/1 p. 474 par.

"It is important for those in the congregation to appreciate why this congregation committee exists
May I clarify what is being referred to here.
At the time i.e, 1966, before the elder arrangement was introduced, each congregation had a stipulated number of “servants”, the most senior forming a three-man “Service committee”. They were the congregation servant (the boss), the assistant congregation servant and the bible study servant.
This is the committee that the 66WT is referring to.
Invariably these three men would form a judicial committee as required.
