  New light on shunning?

  one theory why tony was booted out was because he was a stickler for not changing the shunning doctrine.

  he actually said the words we will never ever change it.. they are slowly deleting all of tony’s videos and now losing court cases and losing government hand outs in places like norway.. it’s looking very likely they will release new light on shunning policy after losing this latest one in norway.. .

  what are the odds they coincidentally get new light from jehovah and lighten up their shunning policy ?.

  When I saw the change at the recent annual meeting where they took away the century old requirement to report hours, I took notice! I was judged over this!

  Yep, when I saw the change I immediately thought of a friend of mine who refused to submit F/S Reports even though he was regular in service. On principle, he refused all the ‘encouragement’ from the elders ro report. I thought at the time that he was more genuine and sincere in his field service because he was doing it because he wanted to, and not just to fill in a report.

  For his ‘crime’ he was labelled “weak” and relegated to car-park duty at the meetings; he wasn’t even allowed to have the “privilege” of cleaning the Kingdom Hall windows.

  i know they're panicking and trying to gain favor with governments, former members, prospective converts & those who are teetering, all for financial worries.

  still, the latest update in some ways made things worse, and if there's any jws watching it who are beginning to wake up it should be very disturbing.. starting with dress codes: they say that suits, ties & skirts are no longer required, but in so doing they admit that they were required, something not often appearing as an explicit command in print.

  (similar to how lett referred to the "policy on beards" in his video, even though this direct policy wasn't made available to rank and file.

  I notice with a huge eyeroll, that nothing was said about Sisters™ being allowed to wear pant suits or slacks to the KH or other JW functions.

  He could have done a great video about if unbelievers are not as likely to survive as those those who have died are likely to be resurrected, then people might as well go back to hoping their relatives die before Armageddon again

  I guess he no longer “talks the talk or walks the walk”.

  After being out of the borg for some years, empathy with the R & F is no longer there. Indeed, why should it? I find in my own case, after being out for thirty years, that I find it hard to relate to the modern-day life of the R& F and if it weren’t for the fact that every one of my children and relatives were well and truly in the borg I’d have even less interest in it.

  for those who are still attending meetings, what is happening at your congregation regarding field service now that reporting of hours is no longer required?.

  are the elders pushing for people to go out in service anyway?.

  Hi Mike,

  like I said earlier in this thread, it’s now many years (30+) since I was ‘in’ and there’s been so many changes in that time but can you elaborate on this

  Zoom ministry is just an excuse for a social club. Meeting in people’s homes is usually hybrid groups these days. The ones on zoom get to chat to ones in person attending the group.

  Are the meetings in people’s homes the meetings for field service?

  What on earth is Zoom ministry?

  I really wonder what the majority of the JWs really think about these changes.

  It’s many years since I was serving(working) in Bethel but I still recall vividly conversations held in hushed tones where we admitted together some doubts. And I’m referring to members of a branch committee no less! so yes, I don’t just wonder, I know.

  The thing is that they have so much invested into life in the borg, that they cannot bring themselves to face up to “the real troof”. Ray Franz referred to their cognitive dissonance.

  oh, my heart goes out to you !

  In those JWD days we had such vitality but now we are battling the rampage of time but really we are the same people and we have the same to give.

  For me, my beloved Mrs Ozzie departed a few years back and, instead of moderating on JWD in the early hours of the morning, I am battling the sleeping demons, but have tried to keep myself up-to-date with the never-ending tableau of abused victims of the Borg.

  Reminiscing on those moderating days, luvs ya Lee, you did good!
