He was not daft. He was brilliant but also strange, bizarre. He had a gi- normous ego and truly a “one- off” . There was never another like him.
Despite his faults , I woould love to see someone remotely like him today to break up the blandness…
Even after so many years I can recall the imposing presence of “Brother Blayney” with his white hair and all.

In the 80's in Australia, we had Vincent Toole as C.O. As a kid, I thought he was ok - but then again- kids are idiots.

Agreed, but our Rex was not the sharpest tool in the box, was he?
BTW it was spelt Mainwaring.
Anyway he projected the template for ‘spiritual’ men (as he was a large man himself) and came accompanied by a loyal, much smaller, subservient wife.
Rex had all the qualities necessary for the apparatchik of a controlling cult. He displayed no original thoughts except those of ‘the Organisation’. At the time, I quite liked him. Times changes things.

in fact nobody has reported seeing him anywhere, not even at a local liquor store.
The fact that his beloved Caddy is parked out front tells me he flew offshore or out of the region to stay/sponge.

Can anyone seriously imagine any member of the current GB standing up and reading a Resolution seeking Jehovah's forgiveness for any errors within the organisation? From my own understanding in the land Downunder, my take is that it was not a mea culpa by the GB (WTleadership) of the time but rather derived from a reprimand of the local i.e. Australia branch, leadership during a visit to the branch.

Is this discussion open to the list of the “glorious ones” in the land Downunder ?
that the wt "self insures" kingdom halls has come up in occasional conversations on here.
how exactly does that work?
do they* actually set aside a portion of the monthly remittance from each kingdom hall and save into a pool to cover damage etc.
An interesting question and I suspect a discussion is back in the archives.
I should know the answer to this (“let the reader use discernment” as to why) but I’m suffering from memory lapse that comes from old age and I’ll follow the responses with interest.
