Note the following comments and research taken from A Concise Dictionary of Cults and Religions:
What [Jehovah's Witnesses] define as unity is actually, in effect, a rigid organizational structure and policy. Unity, as the Bible teaches it, is a oneness of spirit and humility under the Lordship of Jesus Christ. (Romans 12:15-16; 14:19; 15:5-7; 1 Peter 3:8)
"Accordingly, as Jehovah's people, we are united because we accept Jehovah's sovereignty, love our brothers, hope in God's Kingdom, and respect the ones God uses to take the lead among us. Jehovah helps us to overcome certain attitudes that because of our imperfection could otherwise threaten our unity.-Rom. 12:2."
"Because present-day elders cooperate with the faithful and discreet slave class, all in the congregation are encouraged and assisted to remain united. (1 Cor. 1:10) When we submit to the Bible-based instruction from Jehovah's organization and follow the direction of the elders, we give proof that we are "earnestly endeavoring to observe the oneness of the spirit in the uniting bond of peace."-Eph. 4:3."
