How did we get from singular ha-Elohim (God) to plural ha-Elohim (judges)?
by I_love_Jeff inread exodus 22:6-8
jps tanakh : 6 when a man gives money or goods to another for safekeeping, and they are stolen from the man’s house if the thief is caught, he shall pay double; 7 if the thief is not caught, the owner of the house shall come near (נקרב) to god (האלהים) that he has not laid hands on the other’s property.
8 in all charges of misappropriation pertaining to an ox, an ***, a sheep, a garment, or any other loss, whereof one party alleges, “this is it” the case of both parties shall come before god (האלהים): he whom god (אלהים ) declares guilty (ַיְר ִשי ֻףן) shall pay double to the other.

Read Exodus 22:6-8
JPS Tanakh
:
6 When a man gives money or goods to another for safekeeping, and they are stolen from
the man’s house if the thief is caught, he shall pay double; 7 if the thief is not caught, the owner of the house shall come near (נקרב) to God (האלהים) that he has not laid hands on the other’s property. 8 In all charges of misappropriation pertaining to an ox, an ***, a sheep, a garment, or any other loss, whereof one party alleges, “This is it” the case of both parties shall come before God (האלהים): he whom God (אלהים ) declares guilty (ַיְר ִשי ֻףן) shall pay double to the other.
hā·’ĕ·lō·hîm — 366 Occurrences
I asked Jehovah's Witnesses:Jehovah's Witnesses: How did the word ha-Elohim in Exodus 22:6-8 become a plural translation?
https://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20170506211530AAv72Yg
HA-ELOHIM the [TRUE GOD]
8 Occurrences for hā·’ĕ·lō·hîm to mean judges.
Exodus 21:6 הָ֣אֱלֹהִ֔ים (judges?) (singular w/definite article)
Exodus 22:8 הָ֣אֱלֹהִ֔ים (judges?) (singular w/definite article)
Exodus 22:9 הָ֣אֱלֹהִ֔ים (judges?) (singular w/definite article)
"For discriminating students of the Sacred Scriptures the New World Translation preserves all the uses of ha-el and ha-elohim in the Hebrew texts by translating such accurately as “the [true] God.” " Watchtower 1966 pg 526 par.17
So how did we get from singular ha-Elohim (God) to plural ha-Elohim (judges)?
"Observe that in Noah’s history recording the days of Enoch, after idolatry had become practiced, the true worshipers frequently put a definite article ha before el or elohim to indicate “the true God” Jehovah as distinct from the false gods who were also being referred to as el or elohim but not as ha-el or ha-elohim". pg 526 par. 16 Watchtower 1966

Are the Jehovah's Witnesses allowed to check a source if it leads to apostate literature?
by I_love_Jeff inin this link (http://defendingjehovahswitnesses.blogspot.com/2013/11/walter-martins-kingdom-of-cults-amounts.html) you will find an article written by bar_anerges (jehovah's witness and most likely an elder.
popular on yahoo answers and else where..) in the article he quotes from an apostate named james penton (see link below).
is it possible for jehovah's witnesses to peruse penton's work without putting their relationship with jehovah in jeopardy?

In a situation like this, should they just accept what Bar is saying without looking it up for themselves (even though he looks up everything for himself)? Why is an allegedly-active Jehovah's Witness elder looking at apostate material anyway? Should the JWs follow his lead?

although jehovah's witnesses believe that paradise earth will remain forever, why does there own watchtower library 2014 software state otherwise?.

New NWT deception at Genesis 8:22 to indicate earth remains forever.
by jwfacts ini could not find mention of this before.
i was reading genesis 8:22 in the niv and was surprised i had never noticed that this verse gives the impression that the earth will not remain forever.
genesis 8:22 stated by god after the flood, when promising to never again destroy all living creatures.. as long as the earth endures, seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, day and night will never cease.

"The revised NWT cleverly and conveniently took the negative particle lō' meaning "not" or "never" toward the end of the sentence, and placed it at the beginning of the verse (as did ISV) after the constituent adverb ‛ôd, still within the bounds of Hebrew-English translation to have it say: "From now on, the earth will never cease to have seed-sowing and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, and day and night."
BUT, the NWT reader may get the overall impression, more so than with Fox's translation, that the verse somehow indicates the eternal existence of the earth, when that in itself is not explicit by the wording used." -
