That is so great that yah'll will be reading Flyboys. One aspect that I don't even think that the author knew would hit home with readers are his descriptions of the "folks back home". Just reading about the mostly caring and supportive families is so WTS-anathema. What I found was that yes support of the US in war was important, but even more the support of what these young sons wanted in their lives. They wanted to fly. They wanted the newest most exhilerating experience, and yeah a few guys knew the ladies would swoon in the arms of a pilot. These guys were young 19 or 20, they had the enthusiasm of youth accompanied by the quick reflexes and buoyant health of young Americans of the time (for more on US military men's health and what it meant for the War read Citizen Soldiers by S.Ambrose) I hope you enjoy this read.

Who Is Responible??
by Satanus inthis is a bit of meandering about my life.
in my life, i have undone most of the wt memes, i have worked on overcoming the negatives resulting from the abuses of my parents.
the emotional emptiness resulting (i think) from my mother's aloofness, noncomunication, nonsupport can't be deprogrammed.

SS, Yeah we are responsible for our decisions, but our parents are responsible for allowing abusive people (in your case JW's and the WTS) to control young lives. Teaching you to be a JW is harmful and evil. Other decisions aren't likely to come out right because you hadn't been taught how to make decisions. The smartest idea you've had was to leave the dubs (siblings, family included) to their own devices of hate. Because you are here you have probably helped many many people to know they aren't alone and abandoned when leaving dubdom. That's mighty important. Part of your healing(I hate that term) --- let's say part of your awakening has included this new group of friends. Everyone has their own story of success and failure. Because you asked the why questions you are way ahead of your siblings. Just imagine blind faith --- I think that's hell for sure... and your family is still there, spirits crushed and curiousity abandoned. Now you on the other hand are quite alive. So lets say that from now on pay attention to your decisions not as simply anti-WTS but something more. I don't know what to call that something more, except maybe, yourself? You will have failures, sure, but the good of your failures is that you are alive enough to make them your own, not because you were told DO THIS or DON"T DO THAT by a publishing company. Maybe as humans we need to accept the failures, no maybe embrace them as learning who we are, be like a physicist and build, rework, add new stuff understand yourself on the atomic level ;-) Really living is painful. I mean, look at the greatest in art or science. Picasso is a good example of changing by learning. Not only in his art which is marvelous to see his evolution, but even his personal life the women and his children. The very concept of the basic elements of structure beautifully reduced yet somehow enhanced by his dynamic simplicity. Like that dove picture or his guerra works, amazing. So that's like you too. Always shaping and reshaping your guts. Maybe it's learning from yourself and not from some idiot old men w/ many lawyers. So are you responsible? Of course. But just like if you get something like asthma because of pollution you are only responsible to get treatment so that you'll live. There's nothing to do about the cause of that illness. So you have the WTS diseased upbringing. You won't be able to change that, but time will fade the idiocy and pain. It won't ever really be healed, but your distance will enable your great mind and heart to live and make decisions your way, w/o the contaminant.

it seems that the worst cults have the most lawyers
Bebu, I love that statement. It brought a little bit of light heartedness into a very sad discussion.
Contracts w/ religion so you can never leave... can anyone say inquizition? I suppose that WTS will have the newly baptized signing the answers for their baptism questions. Do you think that will scare some dubs? I hope.

You (Great Britain) never paid for that stuff anyway (Marshall Plan). Why? Because the rebuilding of Europe was paramount, not getting paid for equipment.

Thanks LL. Customs should've told us that traditions like winter celebrations are worth keeping --- but we were dubified so no reasoning on something "nice". Decorating, baking, eating with the people you love ... well of course that's got to be bad, really bad.
You are also so right about Chinese holidays being for children! Even non-Christians celibrate Christmas (in a way) because Santa Claus ShenDanRen, is everything positive to Chinese people. He wears red=happiness, he is old=wisdom; he is fat=rich, AND the biggy he gives presents to children! And the Christmas song the kids I taught knew was Santa Claus is coming to town.
One change though, in China the Spring Festival is the Chinese New Year celebrated in February (the New Year according to Chinese lunar calendar) and it is huge. The presents for NewYear are red envelopes with money.

Hey has anyone read Flyboys: a true story of courage, by James Bradley? He also wrote Flags of our fathers. This new work is quite objective in dealing with how the Japanese where viewed by the US and vice versa. This was an informative read about the real beginning of an airforce for the US military. Well researched and written. Some people mught think its too graphic, but it's the truth. The main group of murdered pilots had a few survivors, one of these lucky guys was named George HW Bush. If you have any interest in personal experiences in the pacific, and a better understanding of why the war was fought so differently in the Pacific, you should read this book.

Badger, President Bush doesn't need to resort to children for blow jobs, apparently he and Laura are happy with their sex life with each other. You know the spouse having sex with the other spouse... I don't think Bill Clinton even considered that.

Yeru, B-complex or B-12 shots will help "pump you up", hot tea w/lemon and honey is great for sore throats and sniffles. Chicken soup is the miracle drug especially if it's homemade... honest it's true.
Nick works hours like yours so when he gets a 4 day weekend I just let him rest, it's what he needs most.
My complaints: The medicos tell me I'll have chronic urticaria (immunopathic) for at least 5 more years (it's already been 5 years!!!!) I'm tired of drugs (8 perday) and no insurance to pay for them. If I dwell on my health issues I become glum. Sooo think I'm a kitty, you're a kitty; I'm a kitty, you're a kitty---

Hey you guys remember the UN?
Remember the UN vote which said "Yeah Saddam's got WMD --- SOMEWHERE."?
If you truly believe that President Bush would be so petty as to allow some imagined personal vendetta against SH, then you watch too much LINK-TV.
If you recall, #41 was all for NOT entering Iraq and driving to Bagdad.Let's not get into who gave what to whom and when. The Cold War is over. Many leaders have supported the "bad" or "wrong team." And if you want to recall a really seriously damaging move think about the UK support of Hitler taking control of the "Sudetenland" and Poland, and everything up to the borders of the USSR(which was supposedly an ally to England). Over 6 million dead because of that sweet support. And how about NOT allowing German Jews into England, eventually kids were allowed in w/o their parents . Oh let's go further back in time when England often supported rival factions in order for them to destroy one another,(India, Thailand, Saudi Arabia) really peace loving eh? Oh and this is good --- the forced opium trade in China. Imagine fighting a war so you can sell opium! Oh yeah and guess which country actually paid her merchants not to sell opium --- yep those evil selfish Americans --- they were the only country to stop.
Pres.Jimmy Carter left Iran open for Ayatollah Khomeni because he didn't understand what religious nuts were capable of doing. He also lost soldiers and civilians to wacko muslims. Religion is an ugly creature no matter where it sits.
Pres.Bill Clinton visited the US military on more countries than any President past or present.
WMD were never the only reason to invade Iraq. President Bush's speeches revolving around this war are easily obtained on the internet, you should read them.
And yes I watch Euro-news and the translated AlJesseera. No I am not cold hearted and uncaring about our soldiers dying. If you pay attention to some of the soldiers returning home you'll find out that part of the reason they are easily targeted is because they are not just taking over and shooting everyone in their way. They are attempting to minimize civilian casualties by not bombing everything. Talk to some WWII Vets and they'll tell you that it was never like this, ie., saving lives and rebuilding the nation.
But if you prefer to hate America and American President's then that's your perogative. I hope you will always have the freedom to voice your opinion, oh yeah if some despot attempts to curtail your rights the US will be there to save your ass ---yet again.
