  I feel so angry!

  not really much point to this except i want to vent some anger but yesterday my little brother came round to my house for lunch, he is studying and living at the house of my jw sister, i myself have never been baptized so am not disfellowshipped but they all (with the exception of my little brother) treat me as though i where.. anyway, my little brother came round for lunch and the next thing my jw mum phones my house, asks to speak to my brother and gives him a telling off for being at my house because i'm bad association, and tells him that he has to spend more time with the members of the congregation.. he tries to explain to her that the members of the congregation don't want to know him, that he is sick of making an effort to be friendly with them when they just ignore him.. anyway, it finished with her telling him he is to go straight back to my sisters house and not see me again.. he is 24 years of age, surely its up to him if he wants to come to my house!.

  sorry, i know there is no point to this, but i just wanted to let off some steam!

  now that i'm totally free of the wt & it's indoctrination, standing alone not sure of my purpose in life, not sure where to turn to.

  i still believe in god but find myself on the verge/or perhaps already questioning him.

  this is quite a sensitve topic & not sure it suitable, but i just need it out there.

  God is an idea. You need faith and belief to have a God. That means any proof of God's existence, is non-existent. Faith and belief are emotional and have nothing to do with changing the world. When human beings recognize that this life really is your only chance to make a difference; that God has no power over good or evil. Then all the superstitious rhetoric will become so much bulls***. Faith and belief are quite literally a mindset which relies on beliefs which have no evidence. No one will be able to explain God faith to you, or why you have the need to feel God.

  You have the power to make a difference to people around you. Mentor someone in high school; volunteer to help local kids with reading in the library after school (or on vacation). Visit someone you know. Take a walk. Write a journal. Read lots a books. Join a group. Help out at a bake sale... Do the helpful stuff around you. That way you'll be better prepared to answer your own questions with proof, not poof.

  Tez, Your story is painfull to read and just like this thread it shows the heartless patriarchal WBTS for what it is... I mean I remember when I would look for opportunities to mention " Well, the society says..." I hate myself for those evil comments.

  Alan F, Thank you for posting this interview. I hadn't seen it before (I haven't been around for awhile) and I hope more on this discussion group will get the chance to read it. For me, Dawkins has a talent for explaining science and not make his audience feel stupid. Thanks again.

  just came home from grandmas house and found him next to the road.

  i guess he had made a jail break (he jumped my fence everyday) and got hit.

  of course, noone left even a note, what do they care, its only someones dog.

  John Doe, Well you've made your point. BTW your argument is not logical. It seemed to me that you attempt to come off as such. Your self serving phrases prove unsuccessful. All of the situation points you refer to as,"we do not know (this or that)" Show that you do not think for an instant that this dog owner had made a mistake...yeah a mistake. The immature person who blames the victims family has need of life experience and a good course on Plato's philosophy.

  i was explaining to a frind who had read that fundementalist christians hate the un.

  Thanks everyone... some really good ideas to start from. I still have the problem of explaining why fundies believe this stuff... see my friend is an athiest like me and she has never had any religious indoctrination. So the Bible and specifically Revalation is way out there .... So I have tried to explain the scriptures folks (esp JWs) use to prove the UN as beast. Again thanks.

  The motorist (aka killer) was probably worried about a law suit; so no note. What gets me is that your dog may have still been alive when he got hit. I hit a neighbors dog once and took him to the vet . I paid for the surgery and that dog is still alive. So yes restraining a dog is the owners responsibility BUT the humane reaction to hitting a dog is to stop and render aid. Of course what the heck am I thinking #%$%^^^$ Humans hit people with their vehicles and don't stop... So many people treat their "pets" like some disposable commodity... I don't think Sambo's Mom was one of them.

  My tears are with you. I lost mt 13 yr old Great Pyrenees 2 weeks ago. She died after cancer surgery. I had to try to save her or I would have forever felt guilty. I will miss Jasmine. Her 2 dog buddies have mourned her. They got very hyper and were up and down; on and off the porch for days. Please keep talking about your beloved canine because most of us here share your loss.

Well I made an attempt and she said "Say, What?" I've had to explain this as a dub to get people to believe the WTS point. But now here was a person wanting shere all of this stuff comes from ... how you explain?
