Well I didn't tell Mr.Panda anything, except that I had read CoC and had a copy. I also told him I would maybe go to a SUnday meeting or 2 with him , but Basically I would no longer participate. He was an elder and I know the other elders got tough with him. He saw the way his fellows treated me and that helped him to reason on my leaving. After my Da he actually did read the book, but I still kept my mouth shut because I know my bitchy ways would not be helpful. But I hoped, and not in vane. I did send copies of my DA letters to a few close friends (many who are now ex-dubs). Mr.Panda is not an atheist but he has come around on evolution (for which I may have been in bitch-mode). So sometimes being a bitch ...

Are you an Irritating Bastard?
by gumby inhow many of you ex witnesses out there became irritating bastards to family and friends when you left the organisation?
did you push your believing mate right out the door with your verbal assaults?
did you send out a long letter to all of your witness family and friends telling them what a lying cult the watchtower organisation is?

CBD, Congratulations on a year off an addiction. That is certainly a great coup for you and a spit in the eyes of WTBS. Your discussion with Mom was totally appropriate. You are really getting rid of all the poison in your life and nothing will make you feel better than having the power to rid yourself of that.

Something Odd Just Happened
by luna2 ini work in my parents' hardware store.
there are a few "friends" from the kh that come in here regularly and they usually stop by the office to say "hi, we miss you, blah, blah...when are you coming back?
" there is one bro, i'll call him brother goof, who used to literally haunt me.

Quite a story. And while odd it seems to be the type of behavior (odd) that dubs display when confronted with a df or da. I mean it's like a deer in the headlights sometimes, and you don't know whether to run over 'em (figuratively) or just smile and say HI.

Sparkplug, What a great way to eulogise a good friend. I imagine that everything she brought to her life was reciprocated. I'm sorry you lost your friend; but I'm also glad you had time to know her.

Hey maybe COs will be carrying these tunes on their phones. But honestly, is there any dub anywhere who would put this on their phone? I mean people might ask "Oh what's that ring tone?" What would the say? "It's a Kingdom
melodyoh oh oh wait a second... a new way to witness in the grocery line... oh yeah. Not embarrassing at all... you play that thing all day for getting your time in... bus stop, library, bookstorI see yet another way to waste time(other peoples) and money(the dubs). -

Did it ever bother you that Watchtower never did charitible works?
by AK - Jeff ini mean, for forty years believing the witness lie it always made me wonder.. judas was the keeper of the money box - and there are statements that indicated that the apostles thought that wasting money that could be used to aid the poor was sinful - so indications are that the earliest christians were doing charitible works.
of course there are many scriptural passages that encourage that activity among believers.
today all the organization ever does is pay lip service to charity.

Yes yes and yes. I never understood this, and it really got to me when I tried to explain to my Catholic family why JWs did not help people in dire straits. I felt guilty that JW missionaries did nothing to help build schools or hospitals. Now I wonder, "why did it take me so long to figure out what kind of org the borg really was, and why not step away from them sooner."

Eagerness To Shun Bound To Fade
by Englishman inmy own parents gave up shunning me after i was disfellowshipped.
they kept it up for about 3 years and then just sort of gradually folded.
here in wsm, most of the witnesses who remember me can't be arsed with the shunning thang any more.

Crumpet, Sorry about your family situation.
Eman, It's good news about your family.
Personally, the only relative who was a dub was my husband. And It wasn't too long after I DA'd that he saw how I was treated. He actually cared more about it than I did. Eventually he stepped down as an elder and finally faded. I know that I was real lucky that he was such a reasonable person. This past year I've heard from a few newly exdubs... they are fading. I'm glad they've gotten in touch.

It has to have been all of those super duper shoulder pads in the 80s. I mean my goodness they stood about 3 inches high and I thought that they looked good. Yikes.
