Talesin, Tell me about those spider bites! At first there was no way I believed it was a brown recluse ... then the next day the site looked just like the photos. I asked a frind and she said if it didn't hurt I would probably be fine. Then it got this blister which I immediately broke. The center cames out; the flesh around the bite turned black and gushy (and smelly)... I put some neosporin on it after a few days it started to heal as an indentation. The next week I had a doctors appt. he looked at it and said "Looks like it's healing." Yeah okay. Another week and another bite. For a person with an impaired immune system I wonder if those bites might help my chronic urticaria. I told my Vet (I worship Veterinarians) and he looked at the bites, yup brown recluse. So now I'm wondering if anything can kill me??? I've also got scars on my butt from frostbite in a very cold winter in Northern China (DaTong) because I just had to see those miles of Buddha caves and hanging temples. But no spiders and clear bare wired light bulbs.

I've always wondered about why those filaments were so fragile... planned obsolesence...figures.
How about those flourescent bulbs for incandescent lights? Or those new five year bulbs?
DUST good grief I wouldn't know what to do w/o dust bunnies to keep me company!
Dog hair! Go to www.community.webshots.com/user/tpantaza check out my 2nd album (only one pick)
Spiders are a plus out here. We have these great looking zipper spiders who catch everything in their great big symetrical webs. Of course then we have the brown recluse (been bitten twice and have the necrotized dented flesh to prove it) and the ultra lovely black widow (I swear those gals are wearing goth!)

What is your daily household irritation?
For me one of the household daily irritations is dead light bulbs. I often day dream about having every light socket , indoors and out with new light bulbs. That includes those lights in the ceiling (spot lights?) and those florescent bulbs in the kitchen and those fancy bulbs in the hallway and those other fancy bulbs in the bathrooms... Oh yeah and the outside light that burned out last fall. Oh and those solar lights which died last year too.

Wife's weight problem
by dangel ini amlooking for advice.
before getting married, my wife was slim and took care of herself.
after the wedding however, she started to eat much more and not exercise.

Dangel, Welcome and hello. All of these self help ideas are , well, not going to help the two of you. There is one sure fire way for the 2 of you to lose weight.
First, get a maid service to clean your home, change the beds, do the laundry and iron. Oh also take out the trash and sweep outside.
Second, get a personal trainer.
Third, get a cook. One who has read all of those Oprah's chef's books. And have the cook do the grocery shopping.
That's the fool proof way to lose weight and regain your health. When you are not doing the food shopping it greatly lightens the refridgerator load.

by HappyDad infor the first time in over a year..........maybe longer.............i saw dubs in fs at 11:00 am today as i was about to enter a local eatery for lunch.

these feelings went from loathing to pity.......no iota of guilt on my part though!

I remember visiting a cong in Florida. The sisters did not wear pantyhose!!! Not until I moved to Texas did I realise the reasoning behind that , oh and taking the shoulder pads out of clothing... the heat and humidity were awful.

What words and phrases do Brits and others see as 'American'?
by sonnyboy inas an american, i see words such as cheerio, blimey, bloody (when referring to something negative), loo, bugger, fag (cigarette), etc.
as chiefly british (i suppose they are).. what words and/or phrases do you consider to be chiefly american?
i'm honestly unaware of which words i use that may not be used in other english-speaking countries.

In the USA the accents are enough to make you think you've travelled with Dr.Who. I grew up in New Jersey and spoke with rrrs where none existed and
aaa's where rrr's were written motha= mother; fatha=father ; sista = sister; brotha = brother
ch where g's were written example: ahr'nch = orange; garbich = garbage
and wawlk thah dawg.
In Oregon the change wasn't really that bad.
In Wisconsin I thought all the men had sniffed helium... honest the voices were so high pitched... I still don't know why but it was creepy.
In Illinois a few people had a sort of southern accent but more understandable.
In Texas I could not understand directions at the morning meeting for field service for months. Now "Yah'll" has become second nature and I try really hard to understand. But the further south I git the mo' hah'rid 't b'co. Almost Shakespearean wouldn't yah'll agree?

Valis you sure had a great vacation!
Only... well just my thought on those fish... Aren't those the ones who eat all of the dead "thangs" in the water? Scavengers? ICK... sorry just not into eating other rotting beings. OOPS wrong fish --- trout right? They seemed to swarm you and that smart looking cutie who you probably paid to have her photo taken in your campsite. Honestly though your photos are gorgeous. I've heard that Missouri is pretty and green green green...you proved that. -

Philosophy - is it worth the bother?
by Abaddon ini fully admit to only having dabbled in the waters of philosophy up to now.
i kept on being put off by the smell... .
having said that, is there anyone more clued up than me about the subject who can tell me anything that might make me change my mind?.

the_classicist has reminded me of the fun friday nights out with our friends who were also exiting (the borg) at the same time we were. Bill and Barb would tell us after dinner how much they enjoyed listening to MrPanda and I discuss evolution or societal woes. I suppose MrPanda and I agree to disagree --- married 31.8 years... Argument may be our aphrodisiac!
