This is very interesting because rather than dismissing cases of shunning each is being individually studied and decisions then rendered. Also, I'm glad to see religion getting punished for their holier-than-thou dogma.

Halle Berry is a fabulous actress. She can do sci-fi or drama. In Monsters Ball she blew away other Best Actress's that year. She's so good she doesn't seem like she's acting. Her personal problems are sad and typical for many women today. She was rejected by her father (read that abandoned) her whole life. Maybe after she became rich he wanted to get in touch ... now what sort of emotional rollercoaster would that make?

My Story: My Current Religious Experience from Birth to the Present
by the_classicist ini don't believe i've said anything about myself here, so here goes.. i was raised a jehovah's witness from birth.
my family's invovlement in this particular religion began with my great grandmother, a rather lovely woman who lived a long life who made homemade oreos which i had the occasion to enjoy once; she died firm in her beliefs.
my grandmother was subsequently raised in this religion, although not all of her brothers and sisters were, as far as i can reckon.

Classicist, Hey thanks for telling us your story. You sound much older than your years, maybe because you're a very serious young man. Anyway, have you read Thomas Hardy's poem "God's Funeral" . There is a line in it(stanza XIV)I could not buoy their faith: and yet
Many I had known: with all I sympathized;
And though struck speechless, I did not forget
That what was mourned for, I, too, long had prized.

I see by your license plate that you weren't a Californian yet. Yikes you make me remember that MrPanda and I did the same travelling when we were 22 and 18... so long ago ... we had fun before we were dubs. But now we're having fun again.

millions now living will never die?
by headmath ini always found that line confusing, look at this:.
quote.
1920 "based upon the argument heretofore set forth, then, that the old order of things, the old world, is ending and is therefore passing away, and that the new order is coming in, and that 1925 shall mark the resurrection of the faithful worthies of old and the beginning of reconstruction, it is reasonable to conclude that millions of people now on the earth will be still on the earth in 1925. then, based upon the promises set forth in the divine word, we must reach the positive and indisputable conclusion that millions now living will never die.

As a JW how do/did you feel about 6 billion people being destroyed?
by jwfacts inhow else can a person justify that jehovah will destroy 6 billion people, innocent children included?
i could never accept that i deserved salvation whereas almost no one else did.
it put me on permanent spiritual edge because i thought the slave is right so the doctrine of destruction must be, but my heart always knew it was wrong.

Well, as a good Bible study I thought "Hey it's fine because I won't be one of them." I thought people deserved to die if they didn't recognise Jah. But reading the Bible more intently and then being able to dismiss it as myth made me feel tons better.

New JWD members on the Horizon!
by Sign oTimes insoon (if they haven't already) local congregations of jws will welcome newly disillusioned former members of the bethel family.
the most potentially dangerous have been paid off already (but what do you mean?
weren't we all given severances equally proportionate to our years of devoted service?

Welcome and thank you for such interesting news. I hope that at least some of what you say is correct. Ya know about 15 years ago I recall a reg pio sister getting upset because apts were being added to KH's for CO's and their wives. She asked why should they have a free place to live. Well she's still a reg pio even though things like that bothered her.
WAC you're doing a great job

I'm sure Welnick would like to have 4 more years but he was actually 51when he died. And this makes me realise that I really won't be seeing 17 ever again.

Report: It is now 1:37 on 06/06/06. This is one of those miraculous days when Simon and the rest of us will be able to understand the date (as written) in the same way. This is exciting news. It's almost as if the universe were coming together or lining up or to quote an old computer "something wonderful is going to happen" HAL, remember HAL?
Later today I plan to visit some christian friends and tease them!
