schizophrenia .......sound like anybody you know?
by gumby ini think most people are unfamiliar with why certain people behave the way they do.
most people lable those who are quite different as the rest as nutty, strange, plain nuts.
(i'm guilty as the rest)

Snakes image in illustration in WT study just done
by Noumenon ini was at the meeting on sunday just gone (first time in about 5 weeks), and being a lot more attentive to detail these days, i noticed in the illustration of jacob and his sons (page 20 of june 15th watchtower) on the wall behind the old jacob there is what is clearly a bird with wings spread, but have a look at it's nec and head?
it looks more like a coiled serpent with large wings than a bird!
more sneaky images of snakes and s's (sssatan the original ssserpent)?.

PLEASE... keep a record of time, place and questions you are asked. At some point you may need to have a record of this harrassment.
You might even use some deprogramming tactics, but of course the other dub should report this one for even talking to you.
You could always use this opportunity to get new publications and reports on new light, think of all the time she'll be able to report!

Congratulations
You've done it! I rememeber writing my letter in 1997, I wasn't sure, should I shouldn't I???? But then you get that FREE AT LAST feeling, kind of EUphoric. I think that your happiness and general health is confounding your family because you are supposed to be miserable w/o the borganization. Yet here you are going off to college.
I say continue to take back your life, knowledge is power remember all of the great postings here and come back when you can!

*sigh* is it over yet?
by arrowstar inbefore i begin let me just say that this is just a rambling from a tired and scared gal, who in her heart knows that it's all going to be just fine.
i just need to babble for a bit and get it out of my system.. as some of you know, i'll be moving to a new apartment on saturday.
this came about because where i'm currently living has raised my rent beyond my means.

Arrowstar, So is it over? God I hate moving! Folks who haven't done it have no idea of the pressure (mostly money and the lack of) I really wish you the best... heck
Nothing helps but to get the f******ing thing over with, and who ever said that moving helps you get rid of extra stuff doesn't know from whence they speak. Yikes I really hate moving. We made one last move because our house was repossessed. that was the worst move. I was so stressed I couldn't even getdrunk... really, sleeping pills just barely gave me a buzz, but that was probably better because I had loads of packing.
I feel for you.

My wifes and I meeting with two elders. Their true colors shine through
by Winston Smith :>D ini thought id give you an update re whats going on.
my qing the wts of recent has been very hard on my wife.
if i could, i would change my timing of doing so, but its just the way it has happened.

Winston, This situation hits right home to me. My husband was my support as I began seeing a psychiatrist. He was so loving to me and even though I was the one asking about the date discrepencies while he was an elder he always supported me. Psychotherapy changed my life. My guy insisted and so I got help. That reassuring push to get help actually didn't feel pushy, I knew his plea came from pure love.
Medication helps tremndously. Did you know that men like Mike Wallace take Zoloft everyday? Also William Styron (author of Sophies Choice) wrote a book about Darkness Visible or maybe it was Maddness Visible (I know thats not the right title but I think your local library would have a copy.) Anyway when I read his words I cried for hours. My depression was so much like this person I was amazed. I too spent days sleeping, but also weeks with little sleep. I wanted my life to end... then it began.
My husband , like you went through a lot to support me, mostly I always knew he loved me and truly wanted to help me get better. He stood up to non-JW family members as well!
Oh another good book is titled The Noonday Demon, not as poetic as the Styron book but very informative.
I wish your wife could read all of those posting to your message. She would see the love and support you are getting from complete strangers.

Holy Mackral ! Did you write this article. It's very interesting. I always wondered what the real scoop was about Pres.Eisenhower, now I know. Do you have the Bibliography of this article? I'd like to look into those sources, especially Ike's brothers work. Very very interesting. Thanks for posting!

Remember, I was having a drink with a df'ed friend of mine???????? well....
by BLISSISIGNORANCE in.............it was a very strange experience to say the least.. this friend was raised by a dub mother who believes she's anointed.
they broke up.
mary did all the wild stuff for several years until she met another guy at work.

Unfortunately, we all know one Mary or another. It is sad. Don't feel sorry for her, she'll realise her mistake when her dub kids refuse to let her near her future dub grandkids. Her heart will get broken. But it doesn't really matter what you say she will continue to believe the borg doctrine... and if this is true she's probnably a walking vessel of guilt.

What happens when you leave.....fade out...disappear?
by Zoewrex inso i'm considering having a 'talk' with my father about being a jw (maybe giving him c of c) and all that i'm finding about the wts.
there are many levels to this and i was wondering what happens when you fade out?
what was 'that' feeling replaced with for you?
-
Panda
While I wrote a letter saying "I am outta here" my husband and a few friends who happened to be leaving at the same time decided to drift away. I think the elders felt relief that no one (publicly) could talk to me. My husband had already stepped down from eldering and he eventually read Crisis of Conscience. I never asked him to read it. But he faded away and no one really paid attention. I think that fading is good and less emotional than writing a DA letter or getting DF'd . For me I was so busy starting grad school that I didn't miss the borg. I was sad that so many people who'd claimed to luv me could easily turn on me. My husband had no problem missing "friends" because he saw how I was treated. But in order to reconsile his beliefs took time. He came to a sense of believing in the Bible and christianity but in a loving god. So that was ok with me too. His replacement wasn't a replacement at all, he simply became the christian he always was anyway.
I think fading is easier if you have some new friends and activities to de-borg.

Did you ever attend a NonJW Funeral?
by AuntieJane inmy brother died suddenly.
his funeral was in the catholic church.
his 2 jw children and their offspring actually stood in the back of the church, behind a glass wall, and observed the service.

Panda
I feel for you and your family. When my Mom died I didn't do all of the Catholic standing kneeling sign of the cross, but I did attend to be w/ my Dad who was truly devasted. Of course there were folks in the JW congregation who questioned my attending a RC funeral. They asked questions like "Didn't you feel out of place?" No I didn't feel out of place, I felt like my Mom was dead and I missed her." or my favorite, "Didn't you realise the danger you put yourself in being in the midst of Babylon the Great?" No my Mom was dead and I was miserable.
So if you want to know what the people behind the glasswall were thinking? Only of themselves and how the congregation would view their attendence. JWs are like some nasty political backstabbing SOB's. It seemed at times like everyone was looking for non-JW behavior in others to pounce on and get you in trouble.
