How Do I Get Rid of This?
by Big Tex inhave you ever had your eyelid twitch uncontrollably?
it's driving me crazy.
it's been going on over a year.

BigTex, I get these twitches when I am stressed or haven't slept for a few days. Caffeine doesn't effect my twitching. But calcium is always good for nerve twitching. Do you have any other muscle pains? You could always talk to a nutritionist too.

Aging
by joelbear inadam lived 930 years methusaleh 969, noah 600 or so, but the psalms say a man's age will be 70 or 80. the explanation for shorter live span today is more imperfection, but why would man live so long for the first 2500 years and then drop to 70 or 80 in david's time and then stabilize at that age for the next 3500 years?

WL, I will get that for you. I believe it was from either the Chalice and the Blade or When God was a Woman
FrannieBannanie, The years were accounted for by the 2 solstices and other annual celestial happenings. The Maya did this with the most exquizate accuracy. And primative humans did it with stones at places like stonehenge. The Gregorian calendar has nothing to do with the astronomy of ancient cultures.

I'm wondering where people get the money for good handguns I mean we're talking about a $900. cash out for one average revolver! Now shot guns and rifles are way cheaper, I mean go to walmart and pick one up for under $200.
AlanF I agree that drugs should be legal --- definitely.
Everyone else: Americans have a Constitution which allows for gun ownership to protect us from our gov't., I guess the founders realized that they wouldn't have won the Revolution w/o personal gun ownership. You must realize Americans are very hep about their rights. I'd have to say it's a national tradition. And if you lived where I do with rattle snakes and wild boar with big tusks, you'd want a gun too. And if you live in a high crime urban area you need a gun to protect yourself and your friends.

The Watchtower Is Lying -- Yet Again! (Wt 9/15/03)
by metatron inin the sept. 15, '03 watchtower, an experience is offered concerning a man named.
rolf-michael, who apparently traded drug addition for cultish addiction.. (perhaps some of you recall a cheech and chong sketch in which an odd man.
announces that he "used to be messed up on drugs and he used to be messed up.

Metatron, Such an excellent post. And we've all seen too many sorry family circumstances because of religions. Here's an interesting one:
After my DA was announced (I wasn't there), within a day, a day, yes I said a day ... a sister called my husband all concerned and asked him if he got to see me or talk to me very often??? Nick said yeah I see her everyday. Sister says oh well I thought ... she never said what she thought. We both laughed because of course I da'd because I was immoral right, I must have done something wrong or why would I leave. Godd grief I still shake my head over that one. SHEEEESH

Prayers in Restaurants....
by caspian inon bank holiday monday just gone, a dear kind older couple in the cong decided to take me and my good lady out for a slap up meal, to try to cheer us up after the recent upheaval in our life.
somehow i ended up with the bill.. anyway, this was the local italian trattoria were we often go, and are on first names terms with the staff and quite a few of the other regulars.
big mistake!!.

Caspian, I guess you were getting your lesson through prayer.. but he stood up to pray! Oh just great, he was sure gonna show you, yeah castigation through prayer. Wasn't there some KM talk about NOT using prayer as a teaching tool? That reminds me of the parable of the 2 jewish men praying and the one prays outloud "I'm glad I'm not like that sinner" Thats pretty much what you had to listen to, and pay for a second time with cash.
That was a true picture of a self-righteous act. AARRRGGGGH***
This is a story about self righteous JWS. I remember after my first semester overseas, I'd been back about a week or so and a friend called to come over. She said she was on her way to the city with this other sister and just wanted to stop by. Yeah right? As soon as they came in and sat "my friend" began to grill me on how did I deal with my spirituality when there was no place to go to meetings. Or did I have any specific different ideas about Jehovah or the Bible I'd like to share? Hello, could you be more transparent? Good grief I couldn't believe this was happening. It was as if the SS of Nazi fame were goose stepping in my living room. So thats, that.
I was often embarrassed by people who insisted on praying in restaurants. That is so unbelievable, how sacred is that? And wasn't everyone super ready for restaurant prayer when the CO was around. Or a sister is praying at lunch and her kid is acting up so she smacks the kid while she still has her eyes closed! Oh boy...

Non-believers......... Do they "bash" Believers too hard?
by gumby ini have been beginning to wonder if those that have come to disbelieve in the bible as god's word, and those who believe in no god at all............use the wrong verbage here.
is it disrespectful to those who believe.... for non-believers to say things against what believers hold so precious?
many have moved on, or..... mentioned they do not post their true feeling here on certain subjects for fear they will be harrassed by others here.. first off....i'll admit i'm a guilty one for doing this very thing but have been wondering if i'm out of line as well as others who post similar ideas in the same type of manner.

Dave and Gumby, Both of your posts were great, really on the mark. I wasn't raised a dub but I did spend almost 20 yrs in the borganization. I think you both touched on that you'd been lied to your whole life. I can see that must be so. Some of us xjws had also been lied to before and came to the WTS thinking we'd found "truth" Imagine figuring that that was a lie too.
So here we all post together. This forum is a major place for healing. Even though Christians and non-Christians don't agree it shouldn't matter because we are all part of an important healing. Hearts are mended on this forum. The fact that we disagree makes us even more intimate. So we care for one another.
Are any of us done learning --- no way. Once we started on this odessey there doesn't seem to be a way of stopping. And the more we learn the better prepared we are to live. If people need religion, well okay, that's them and why should I attempt to disuade(sp?) them. The problems arrise when religion wants a place in public schools or libraries. Unfortunately some children think that creationism is a science ... We are taking the rights to information away from kids when the religious decide that any pseudo science is better than the truth. I guess I'm saying that reality is more interesting than their policed opinions.
Christians raz each other too. Some believe X others Y, nothing which is provable so why argue? I think about the Reformation and all the wars over religion. Those are the things I disagree with, hey believe what you want just don't expect other people to share your
fantasiesfaith.I don't think I "blast" christians. I give my honest thoughts. Isn't debate part of socialization and community?

"Protect Your Children" JW radio advertisement -- sickening?
by Gopher ini just heard a jw radio advertisement regarding family and children for the first time.
this may have been the radio version of the "award winning for excellence" psa (public service announcement) which the wt society ballyhoos in their media website www.jw-media.org.. .
while listening to an oldies/nostalgic music station based in a wealthy twin cities suburb (stillwater, minnesota), they had a newsbreak, followed by an awkward half-minute of silence, then this commercial about family and children came on.

Big Tex I didn't get out today but I am determined to find out about that cemetary. I mean with the crosses and all it must've belonged to a Catholic church, right?
Hey, I have 4 older brothers, I got their hand me down clothes and toys --- we played cowboys and Indians --- faithfully watched Bonanza --- the Dodge City Matt Dillon show (I forget the title) Sugarfoot, Maverick and the rest. I wore my gun belt and hat from the time I could wrestle them away from my brothers. So us East coast kids played like we were in Texas!
Again I let you know If I find something.

LOL stillelder --- You know Carl Jung, famed student of Freud? Anyway --- it's a fairy tale --- supposed to be for kids --- but the kids are in danger from their grandmother who wants to eat them!!! Because she is really an Ogress. Which means the King is half Ogress which means his children are1/4 Ogress. And she wanted sauce on the kids too.... Now would that be a good bedtime story for a child?
