but how about persons of mixed parentage, are they considered to be black too?.
how about my son's old girl friend whose grandmother was from the phillipines, is she black because her skin had a slight (and very beautiful) brownish glow that came from her ancestor?.

Vicki, You know everyone here supports {{{hugs}}} you. As a victim of child molestation (not by a jw) I especially feel for you because of these constant reminders of your pain. I get so heart sore whenever I read more and more about the destruction of childrens psyche by the f***ng rapists, not to mention the physical trauma. I know that everyone says hate is bad energy etc., but I hate. I hate enablers of rapists as well as the rapists too. Please accept my caring thoughts for you. Big Panda Hugs

This is an interesting thread. I think the older you get the more difficult it is to hide the "true" person inside. Just like that portrait of Dorian Grey, eventually your life gets written on your face and in your eyes.
Reading the many posts here I wonder that everyone might have varied definitions of nice guys /gals.
If you are looking for someone to meet your own needs (which is important) but then you never find out who they are past that fulfullment of your desires. But if you add to your needs a knowledge of your partners needs, well things can be great.
Sept.1 we'll be celebrating 30 yrs together. There is no one else worth all the trouble; there is no one else who could give me all the joy as my husband Nick (Panda gets a tear in her eye).
Neither one of us is *all* nice. But so what! Nick never treated me like garbage (not even the 19yrs as dubs; part of which he was an elder) and treating me badly would not make me love someone ...it'd make me leave them.

Simon, Just one point for now (more later) during the Civil War, England sided with the Confederacy which was pro-slavery.
Oh and maybe one other thing until later ... In South and Central America the Portuguese and Spanish continued slavery until the 20th century (add the Phillipines in there) and while the Brits may have said "No more Slavery" they were harvesting opium in India and selling it to the Chinese. They even fought a war so that they could continue to be the dope pushers of Asia. So India and Malasia remained virtual slave labor for the Brits and French , also into the 20th century. more later gotta get dinner on ...

Do you tell your spouse or partner EVERYTHING?
by doodle-v infrom my experience, and im fairly young so i still have a lot to learn, but i found that being honest can be very difficult and it also takes a good level of trust from both parties.
one night my fiance and i just sat and told each other everything about our past, you know, (if i tell him that he might leave) that kind of stuff.
well i'll tell you it was one of the most difficult things i've ever done.

Simon, Hasn't the Netherlands legalized drugs?
If drugs were legal the same people would become addicted as now, only we wouldn't put the doped-up crack heads in prison. Now there's a money saver. I think that drug use should be a personal decision. And then the drug czars would have to find something else to do, who knows maybe they'd buy cocaine farms in Nicaragua, learn fundamental soil conservation, and save the planet. See ... it could work. And they could still wear their BLING and designer clothes. Then some rebel group could come in and say "Ustedes es perros de capitalistos" and then "hasta las vistas mijos."
