Tres, Definitley go to China town. And Little Italy has great restaurants and REAL pizza!!!! Around Lincoln center there are some great restaurants. I'm going back in February. But when visiting relatives you never do the cool tourist stuff.

i was at the watchtower meeting last sunday and one elder gave an answer that jw 's do not have the problems like the cathlic church where the preist are molesting boys or the church has to pay huge sums of money out to abused cases.
is he not aware what is happening within the jw organization ?

I think remarks like this elder made are purposfully cruel. I say this because I've seen elders use answers at WTstudies to alert the r/f that no matter what you hear this is elder B***S*** telling you it isn't true. Also it says , anyone who has said differntly will be questioned on who else they've told.
My husband just could not believe some stuff I told him UNTIL he took a good look around and did some of his own research.

Brown recluse spiders are the worst I've ever seen. We had a land lord whose Mom was bit by a fiddle back which I think is another name for the brown recluse. Don't they live in moist areas ---LIKE OREGON AND CANADA

Simon, are you sure that your flying creature might not have been a mud dawber? They are a brownish red color and they don't know that they are supposed to die when hit with the TV guide.
I like spiders. As a kid I used to go looking for black widows behind our garage because my Mom always warned ---"Don't go behind the garage or you'll get bit by a black widow spider.". We had a black widow by our front door this past spring. She was big and shiny like black patent leather with an equally shiny red mark. We had to redirect traffic to our backdoor (which in the countryside is the norm anyway) and I made all guests swear to leave my beauty alone. Someone killed her and I think I know who...
Spiders inTexas are big big bigger. We've got some lovely zipper spiders. Yellow and black so they warn birds not to eat them. And they eat every flying insect in the garden (I think that they are also named garden spiders). Their web design looks like a zipper along the main support beam, thus the nickname.
We have the loveliest tarantulas anywhere. Fuzzy with little beady eyes and walrus looking cruncher thingy's. Not very aggressive unless you are a mouse.
The scorpians are playful, unless they are in your shoe or bed ---then it's sting mania. Did you know that they carry their babies on their backs for awhile. Yep. Kids like to see how close to getting bit they can come. They want to see the scorpion attack with the tail over it's head charging forward. Sometimes you'll get stung *ouch*
We also have a few venomous snakes. The western answer to all those asian pith vipers --- the diamond back rattlesnake. They are great for pest control. I always thought I'd just shoot one if it came by my house. But I realized I'd be shooting my house and one of my dogs, so no good. And eventually the scared serpent slithered off my porch.
I used to have a boa but she now lives under my neighbors porch, which is why my neighbor has no barn cats.
Now fire ants are what I call the problem illegal alien. Oh man, they don't sting one at a time. They attack en masse, and you can start pukin' and coughing w/in a few minutes. Now fire ants I do hate. They kill local ants which our horny toads eat and now horny toads are endangered.

Oh wow do I ever remember the era of 90hrs/m 1000hrs/y. I only reg pio for 2 years (actually less) I was stupidly honest on my time sheets. And we couldn't count a study until the 3rd study. Plus I worked 3 different part time jobs. Yikes no wonder I crashed! When I quit nobody talked to me about anything. Not even a sorry you've had it so tough. Nothing. Now I was just a poor publisher who couldn't afford to go on trips before and after assemblies. I started to think that I was exactly where many in the cong wanted me depressed and down. And neither of those are Jah worthy.
I hate believing a publishing company is god.

Poor JW dies from heat stroke

83 years old and too poor to afford the added electricity of air conditioning on her $500/month social security check, she was found dead in her chair with a fan blowing on her.

Exactly. She litterally cooked herself by having that fan on in the hot trailer house. And no elder must have ever visited her or they'd know her situation. No one cared. I remember somewhere that the WTS said it was first the family responsibility to care for elderly people. Nice way to brush that off! And she probably had low hours for many years because of poor health etc. So she was no longer useful to the publishing company ... no gol watches here.
