Did you ever believe that NDE's were DEMONIC?
by DebraDoll inafter re-reading my original post, i realize my true intent and its meaning was clouded by my harsh approach.
my deepest apologies to all!

Debra Doll, Well, I think you have already made a decision in your relationship. I guess the best I can say is that I support your decision. And don't look back. There are a few things to consider:
How attached are your children to your partner?
How attached are you?
Could you make it on your own?
You need to play Laura Bush "If you don't go to counseling we need to separate."
Finally, rejoice in your new knowledge and freedom. I believe the old saying "knowledge is power", did Wm Blake say that? You'll do very well. Hey, why not pack up your kids and live overseas for a few years!
Take good care of yourself and again congratulations, I don't think I could've done college with kids... so I more than admire your stamina.

Just curious, what have some of you done with your exspensive book bags?
by Singing Man ini use my book bag to store my computer soft ware in its perfect for that.
and as for all the old issues of magazines i used them to start my wood stove on those cold mornings.
one time i asked for a lot of older issues from the friends so i could use them to line the bottom of my camp tent, they were more than happy to give them to me.

DebraDoll, I started college in 92 and finished in97. My major was history, however I had equal credits in anthropology, and advanced language strudies was close behind. I had way more credits than I needed because I didn't change to history until the second half of the second year. Previously I was in engineering but I saw a long long road ahead, so since I love history I moved over to the liberal arts. I did post graduate work in China, for parts of 3 years. I loved the university there and my many new friends, some who have visited us here in Texas. Your partner sounds to be in very serious shape. Is he/she going to some therapy? That really helps. I know it and college saved my life, got me out of the borg and freed me in all ways.
I grew up and got married just south of you in NJ.But I wasn't a dub in the 60s. I was 22 in '78 when I got baptized, I really fell for it, hard. Right now I am so darn glad to be away from the WTS and the small minded people and male dominated congregations. You know something, I finally felt good, really good about myself, almost as if I'd never taken a full breath of fresh air, so my lungs got full and here I am. I love this forum and themany good postings and posters.

What Do YOU Expect From Others?
by Guest 77 inin short, respect, honesty and truth.
perfection?
i personally sense some persons expect and demand toooo much from others on forums of this nature.

I expect some level of reasonableness from others. Respect is great when reciprocated. Wait maybe I don't expect these traits but I hope to find them. I also like people who don't take themselves too seriously, yet will stand strong on vital issues. And I especially hope to meet people who feel as did Malcolm Forbes when he said "It's only too late when you're dead." Oh and chewing with your mouth closed, yeah I guess I do expect that.

Public Library and Creationism ... UGH
by Panda ini got upset at our library yesterday.
i found a video tape titled evolution what's in your childs textbook (well thats not the exact title but close.
) i asked why they bought this, the answer : it was a donation.

hooberus, Did I mention that Creationism is religious and biological evolutionary theory is science. Was there something in those words you didn't understand? It seems very simple to me. Study the biology, not the frantic half-truths of fundy's. The kids I get to talk with have explained evolution to me, and I am happy to say that even they know the difference between science and religion... out of the mouths of babes.
Anyway, I didn't make a fuss at the library, I just returned the tape. No comment. That was good advice from whoever gave it to me earlier. I have found recently through this forum that there are many Christian evolutionists (I had another thread about this). So once again it is the fundy's who show themselves as negative. Which of course they are. It's like everything human is bad, dirty, sinful and violent. Well they make the world that way with their rotten expectations.

"We tend to blame the media"
Oh I just love that. Did you know that one trait psychiatrists look for in psychopaths is blaming others for your own problems. So since psychopaths blame others and evangelicals blame others, then evangelicals (and jw's) are psychopaths. Oh, if it were all that simple.
And wearing the badge of "the unrighteously hated because we are right" reminds me the the recent WT study Blondie did for us. Basically the WTS says we should definitely be persecuted or we are not faithful enough. Are there actual degrees of faith? Can you have a little faith? I don't see how. Either you believe or you don't.
When people come across as "holier than thou" it is real hard not to dislike them and their message. This reminds me of a Baptist friend who told me this past weekend that she is living in sin with her boyfriend. I said I didn't think 42 yr old women could live in sin, I mean aren't you old enough not to be expected to get married and settledown? No, she said that she knows what she's doing is wrong, that she is sinning. I mean she was serious! I told her that if god is love that he won't hold it against her (hey she's my friend and I thought I should attempt to console her), but I asked wasn't she probably going to hell? No she said nothing could separate her from Jesus. I said well your new boyfriend has, she said I didn't understand. And she's right I don't, because she says I'll probably end up in hell, but she won't.
So no wonder no one wants to hear their message.

Well I'm not so sure about OBE or NDE, but I do know that with MPD I really don't want any other "not quite here" experiences.
I don't think I ever considered them (NDE) evil. I do know that the psychological community are heavily weighted toward the brain playing last minute tricks. Otherwise why does every experience seem so relative to that individual?
Sounds like a great topic for a paper. And congrats on your last semester. I graduated at 41. It took me 5 yrs. Keepup the good work.
